hi all
We,re thinking of Rhodes for next years holiday (May half term). Some people have told me Rhodes can be a very windy island. Have been to Fuerteventura and was very windy. Didn,t like it. People say some parts are windy and some not but I can,t remember whether they said East or West of island. Any help appreciated
But that was just two weeks out of the whole season so it may be we were just lucky. (Not like Malta a few years earlier...a windswept rock, never again)
Today seems to be ok if the reports are accurate....10 mph wind and 29 degrees centigrade at the airport.
It's the West coast and Rhodes Town that can be quite windy debs, the East coast is much calmer and as a rule has better beaches too
Thanks so much. Will know where to look now.
I always go down to the south on the east coast to Pefkos and have always found it to be calm and warm both in May and Sept.

We live in Faliraki on the east coast. For past few days temps. have been 110 to 115 f. So the breeze is very welcome. could not compare the breeze we get here to the WIND we have experienced in Fuerteventura
The Aegean side (north and west facing) is more windy, the sea can be quite choppy - good for watersports like kite surfing, windsurfing etc.The Mediterannean coast (south and east facing) is calmer, the sea appears more blue and the beaches tend to be better, more sandy.
