Have never been to this hotel. Though, i can presumably think that prices are quite high! It is one of the most historic buildings in Mdina and considering this, it may be a fact that prices will be higher than average.

Thanks for the info Graham - most useful, although the Xara Palace isn't available for the nights we wish to stay (10-13 Feb or 15-18 Feb). We may have to book direct and fly with Ryanair to cut the costs slightly!

I would like to be within walking distance of Mdina but the only hotels I can recall in Rabat are the Grand Verdala and the Nigret (which was a long walk from Mdina) and I can't seem to find either of them despite Google's help! It seems the Verdala was having major construction and refurbishment about three years ago and there seems to be a lot of concern about a proposed golf course at the hotel but I'm not sure what's happened to it since!

Back to the drawing board I think!
