Benidorm
If you need convincing, then take a look in the Costa Blanca forum at the video's that I have uploaded, including one uploaded yesterday of Christmas just gone.
PS: that's where I shall be....already booked.!

Hiya Helen.
I've not used a TA for donkey years, I have either booked on the internet or on the local departures on teletext.
As far as DIY is concerned......I'm now fortunate that I can go anytime of the year and this gives me the advantage to pick up the bargains...some of those bargains in a package holiday are just as cheap as DIY, when you take into account transfers, flights, accomodation and food....for 2 adults.
My hubby is a bit of a stick in the mud Also, you have to take into account the legal responsibility that the tour operators are bound by in the British Courts ( Package Travel Regulations 1992.)......... especially if things go wrong.
Some of those "rights" as far as I know, do not apply if you go DIY and they are further eroded if you book direct with the owners of apartments.
I'm not knocking DIY, I'm just answering your question as to why we don't do DIY.
Benidorm it is for me.

Helen, the one problem with DIY to Benidorm is the distance from Alicante airport to the resort. I hired a car the last time, but taxi's etc can add on quite a bit for a DIY holiday, something to be considered. The quicker the train link starts the better.

I'll second, third and fourth that
Whilst I have never done it myself, there is plenty of information in the Costa Blanca forum about the various tried and trust companies, who do the transfer from Alicante Airport to Benidorm at a very resonable price in comparison to Taxi's, plus depending on the time of your flight, there is a bus that runs from the airport ...although I believe it is still only 4 a day.

We go to tenerife for xmas and new year. Every year the resort is getting better and better. we stay arond the Puerto Colon area of Las Americas where there is lots to do and it is a good base to get your holiday started. The main road runs along the back of the area so there are no busy roads to contend with. I would reccomend this resort for all ages. Roll on Dec 25th when we return.
I've recently come accross a really cheap taxi firm,(based in Spain), called Albatross. They have English drivers (So no worries with the language barrier). They charge £65 return journey, from Alicante airport to benidorm. (If you base this on four people it works out about £8 per person each way.)
We have booked them for our forthcoming holidays to benidorm, and they prefer you to pay on arrival at your hotel.(and not in advance)
Hope this is of some help to any travellers who are looking for a cheaper taxi service.
Regards, BBB
