I agree with Millie, if your looking to go at Xmas book sooner rather than later. Prices go up nearer the time rather than down. Sorry cant help on package deals as I book independent.

We have booked for 3 weeks over Xmas and New year and have paid just under £1000 each.

Goa Xmas and Newyear - very busy with national tourists - very lively but noisy through to early hours - book early and enjoy, but as long as you are ready to "go with the flow" perhaps better to book after Xmas/ week after newyear as a lot of us tend to avoid goa "unless you can`t) at this time.

We went this year (flew on New Years Eve) and paid £700 each with First Choice staying at the Marinha Dourada for 2 weeks,we could have stayed in the Blue Beach or the Osbourne for £600 each. We booked about 8 weeks before going.

I booked my Xmas holiday for 2 weeks at the Highland Beach departing 20 December for £1898 for 2 , was very happy with the price, my holiday is now full but similar are now £2,600 , so I think it paid off to book early.

I went this year 8-30 dec flight only and paid just over £600 + accommodation which was £10 per night then £20 per night, was £7 pn last year!! Ok if there's more than 1 of you. I'm getting a package for Dec and next March, works out cheaper now.

Thanks for all your replies. Not sure what to do. Other half has a xmas closedown for 2 weeks so it makes sense for him to holiday during this time. Only trouble is, the prices escalate!! It looks like I will have to get a move on though and book sooner rather than later if I am heading back to Goa

Cheers everyone

I have also been looking at prices for Christmas/New Year. In the past we have paid anything from £700 - £900 each for this time of year, in 2 star accommodation. Looking at the scheduled airlines the price drops dramatically if you fly on Christmas day itself instead of a few days beforehand. Don't know if this helps.

We haven't booked anything yet.

I have just found a deal ..... leaving on 11th Dec and flying home on 26th Dec. Price includes staying 14 nights at The Osborne, flight with First Choice, transfers, inflight meals and 20 kg baggage allowance (not this new 15kg malarky!!) for £639pp. I didn't want New Year anyway. Hoping to book this, if I can persuade other half that flying home on Boxing Day isn't a problem!! It you went out on 6th Dec, you could stay 21 nights for £599.

Sounds like a very good deal Janerlily :cheers

I think thats a fantastic price if you want to be away for Christmas time. Doesnt interest me in the slightest, but I wouldnt mind going away after Christmas time and being there for New Year. It then becomes much more expensive, and IMO is not worth it, its quite simply a rip off.

We've paid £1899 (for both of us) with First Choice from the 13th to the 28th December staying at the Silver Sands in Candolim, that includes pre-booking our seats on the flight and upgrading to a superior room, we thought that was a very good price, we booked it last December. We didn't want to stay for the New Year as we did this a few years back and it was just too busy for us, but we thought Christmas was great.

We paid £990 for 3 weeks from 13 December to 4 January staying at Senhor Angelo. We go away at Christmas because we get a week off work then due to shut down and feel its a waste to stay in cold England but I agree with Gemma it is a rip off going away at Christmas. We didn't think this was a bad deal considering we usually pay well over £500 for a week in Benidorm on FB.

Tell him to look out for us, we will wear our wristbands.

We flew back on Christmas Day two years ago and we didn't book til September and we paid less than £300 each for 2 weeks. If you're stuck to date sthough best to book early

I don't necessarily choose to be away for xmas but sometimes it just works out better for us. I work for local council and with xmas and boxing day off, we also have to take 3 days compulsory leave, so by the time you attach that to 2 weekends you have 9 days off work. OH is self employed in building trade and they close for 2 weeks at Xmas, so makes sense for him to go then. I hate having to pay the escalated prices to be honest, but if I make the most of bank holidays etc, I get more time to go on other holidays :) Think I would prefer to go beginning of Jan, but that then takes us too close to our next holiday.

I am hoping OH will agree to fly home on Boxing Day so can get to Goa again. I first went last April with a party of 23! Some of you may remember my trip report at the time. This time just the two of us. My sister is getting married in Cuba next May so would like to have dress made in Goa beforehand and was gonna get her wedding rings made out there too.
