we didn't get there till the 27th but we saw the new year in. They have fireworks and parties in town which are televised. We chose to spend it in a good pub near our hotel, after spending the early evening in the centre. They did the countdown, passed out party poppers, had 5 minutes of mayhem at midnight- then it was back to normal. At 1am all bars closed. I actually quite liked it Even better, was sunbathing on the 1st when I knew that normally I would be ill in bed with a hangover
