i remember a taxi ride once
we were coming back from hampi(we had to come back early as i was ill),it was like a horror film

the driver was overtaking on blind bends driving past lorrys at break neck speeds,

.it took 11 hours to get back to goa through the night, every so often he kept getting something out of the glove compartment and popping it in his mouth.when we were nearly back he told me husband that he was a lorry driver and not a taxi driver and that once he dropped us oiff he was going to turn round and drive straight back
i just wanted to die,my legs were so painful ,they were so swollen that i didnt care how bad the journey was.
when we got back to the hotel the hotel staff told us were we crazy to travel back that way ,and to start with we couldnt understand why untill they told us,the lorry drivers that travel through the night are all smashed out of their faces on alcohol and opium

and chances are so was our driver, and that there are hundreds of deaths on the road because of this
not a journey i want to repeat but we never did get to see much of hampi
