Becki,
It depends how long you are going for!
I do not know what prices are like in Zante, but in the Greek resorts we go to you can figure on paying around Eu25 per couple for a good (traditional Greek) meal with a couple of G&Ts and a half-kilo of house wine. In more touristy restaurants the prices were higher and the food poorer. A beer ranges from Eu1.5 - 2.5 for a draught Mythos or large (500ml) bottle depending on the location of the bar. Hopefully you will have a nice balcony so can enjoy a couple of beers/wine on the balcony of an evening with some nibbles - supermarkets are cheap!

have a great time!

hi becki, we went to zante last setember, just the two of us and found it pretty reasonable. like you we had already paid for a hire car which we picked up from the airport. we are not really into organised trips like waterparks and stuff so we did not spend money on excursions as such, but we took in a different corner of the island every day in the car, visiting different beaches, zante town and all the other resorts (we actually stayed in alikanas) we usually had breakfast out as we were s/c, so that is something you will save on, on the odd occasion when we needed lunch too (when we were still fighting the hangover by noon!) we could grab a light meal, such as a greek salad with feta or a pizza for each of us, plus a couple of juices and a few beers for less than 20 euros. evening meals were 5-8 euros on average for a main courses, 3-5 euros starters and desserts, so pretty much o.k! i think we went through about 1,500 euros in total for 2 weeks between 2 of us, which is probably roughly around £1,100-and we never scrimped once, infact we had plenty of drinks every night. it did help that the car was already hired and paid for in full though, but out of our money we also sorted out air-con, which we really needed. i think you will be fine with what you are planning to take, one tip i learnt from my dear nanna who is sensible about money to the point of obsession, is to divide your euros into 14 equal amount on arrival adn just carry over any unspent cash til the next day, it sounds like such a worry wort thing to do but it stops you living like posh and becks in the first week, and then les and cilla battersby in the second!! hope this helps x

Becky. I was in Kalamaki, Zante last year - a last minute cheapy. It wasn't to my taste but I found that most of the restaurants in Kalamaki did a "special" which could be as cheap as 6 euros per person. Wine etc. is additional but if you keep to the specials, which are very good, you can eat very cheaply.

I've just come back from Zante (Kalamaki). We went for a week, myself, hubbie and teenage son, we took £1000. We were bed and breakfast, ate out everynight, the boys did jet skiing, we bought the usual nonsense, lilos etc. Perfume, ciggies and a few bottles on the retun journey.

Have a great time

Hi! Hubby & I take £1000 for 2 weeks SC .We don't scrimp and eat out every day, a good breakfast, a cheap lunch round the pool and a decent evening meal. We also enjoy a good few drinks each night. We also buy gifts for the 3 grandchildren. If we go on any trips however we pay by card. We split our money into 2 envelopes 1 for each week. You should be fine - leave a couple of hundred in your bank here and then you can always use the cashpoint in an emergency.
