Location
Friends of ours stayed here in 2005 and their kids had their nintendos stolen from the hotel bar when there was only staff around and the management did nothing about it. Even the ticket lady on the bus was given out to by an angry passenger she had tried to rip off. Although this hotel looks beautiful it definately lacks good service and friendliness. Oh be prepared to pay crazy money if you have to visit the doctor. One woman paid 500 euro to get two stic
tches. We would not stay here again because of the staff but we really liked the resort.

The apartments weren't even finished they were still having delivery's of chairs, microwaves etc. Rest of the Holiday was great but wouldn't visit Bulgaria again as once you've been round it all thats it really. Some of the staff were rude and sometimes unhelpful.

Trying to get a sunbed was a real joke. For a hotel of this size their were only 200 or so beds and if you were not up at 5am - 6am you had no chance of one. The bridges over the swimming pool were really nice to look at but lethal when wet.
The staff really were not at all helpful unless you were wanting to spend money. Sheets on the bed were too small. I would like to say that the cleanliness of the hotel was superb but that is the only positive thing I can think of to say.
I certainly would not go back and would advise anyone thinking of going to this hotel to think twice and then go somewhere else.

Food was ok with quite a bit of choice, they also allowed you to change evening meal to lunch if you give them a days notice and if you ask at lunchtime you can have your evening meal in the A La Carte restaurant which is basically the same food on offer but served by the friendlier waitresses with guaranteed cutlery.
Spa was good but again they try to get you to book more and more treatments, enjoyed Turkish bath and had a Balkan Sports massage where I was crawling up the walls, felt like he had ripped my calves off the bone, felt quite good the next day though. If you book a few treatments you can get use of the indoor swimming pool, which proved useful for the kids as we had a few overcast cooler days at the start of June.
The casino opened when we were there with flyers given out saying everything was free. However on enquiring they said you have to pay 20 lev nefore you have a go and the machines are about 0.25lev a go. I asked how you get your winnings as you don't actually put the cash in the machines and they said you can't it's free. ????? Didn't bother having a go after that.

The bed was 2 double beds together. It was all done out in leopard skin (sounds horrible but it was really nice)the staff worked very hard all day.
I find it hard to believe that there is so much bad comments about this hotel as I found nothing wrong with it.
The food was lovely and I never had any cold food at all and there was 6 of us.
The hotel is in what you would call the quieter end all that means is it is not where all the bustle and most of the bars are but there are plenty of bars and shops all the way along the fronts.
If you are over about 30 and want a relaxing hol use this hotel but if you want loud noise to keep you up all night then go to the other end of the resort.
I hope people read this who are taking a holiday at this hotel because believe me you will have a great time. I would go back to this hotel as everything for me was perfect.

If you are looking for something with a bit of luxury then this is the place. The decor may not be to everyones taste but I think it just added to the splendour of the place.
As for our room well what can I say ... I think we were spoilt because we had a suite and it was just enormous. There was a large circular seating area at one end that had a pull out double bed and at the other end were 2 3/4 size beds put together to make one huge bed.
We had a balcony with a sea view that took your breath away.
The food ... this was ok, lots of choice but didn't cater for children. My 2 eat with their eyes and refused to eat anything in the evenings so we ate out which was fine because it is so cheap. Breakfast was good tho because there was everthing there, from bacon and eggs to cereal, fruit, meats and cheeses. and lots of chilled water and juices.
There was no entertainment there at all other than some woman playing the piano. I don't like places that have riotous entertainment with kids running around everywhere but it would have been nice if they had put some sort of show on in the evenings even if it was just 2-3 time a week.
On the whole we loved Victoria Palace ... so much so that we booked the day after we came home to go back next year. We even requested our same room!!! The only downside was that there is nothing for children if the weather is a bit dodgy (we had 3 days where they couldnt go in the pool) It would have been nice if they had a games room or something to occupy them if need be. If you're looking for a hotel with a bit of luxury, wonderful location at the quieter end of the resort then this is it.
Just before I finish we did have an added bonus when we stayed there because Sting was there as a guest of the owner who lives on the top floor. We were told that 50cent had been there and Anastacia was due to visit some time soon. So if you're lucky you could even be rubbing shoulders with the stars!!!

Apartments are very nice, so decided to stay there for all the holiday.
Restaurant was a nightmare at breakfast and dinner, not enough tables. Chipped plates and cups. Not enough knives and forks. Food cold on a number of occasions. No entertainment. Forget about getting a sunbed unless you want to get up at 5 in the morning to put towels on them. There is a notice saying any towels left unattended for over an hour they would be removed, but they never where.
Lovely pool area, but no lifeguard ever on duty.

The hotel staff are very friendly and while some don't have great English they will do their best to help you.
I have to say I found the Spa attendants very very pushy, I went to book an Aromatherapy massage but had to go through a 20 min spiel about how a 200leva massage would be much better. In the end I didn't bother having one, I went to the beach for one and also had another further down the resort.
The hotel wasn't fully booked so there wasn't any problem with sunbeds but the beach is only across the road if there was a shortage.
As for the food, breakfast was fine and dinner was ok too. One night it was mostly deep fried food but we just had a big plate of salad, bread rolls and some desert. There was something to suit everyone morning and evening. Strangely enough there was a problem with cutlery, it was limited to say the least. But hey you're on holidays, if you have to wait for a spoon to eat your cake then just relax and go with it.
Now for location, you are a good mile from the centre of the resort so ladies remember to pack a pair of flat walking shoes. I used to change into my fashion shoes when I got down there and put my flatties in a bag.
While I understand some people have had bad experiences ours was on the whole excellent and I will certainly book Vic Palace for my next stay in Bulgaria.

From the moment we walked it to the hotel we were so impressed it was so beautiful I think we will have a job to better this hotel.
Our room was fantastic as you look at the photo in the brochure it was on the top floor (8th) with the large balcony over looking the beautiful beach, our room was large the ceiling curved to 20ft high in the middle! Spotlessly clean with a good sized 4 piece bathroom suite. The only small thing was the angle the shower was at it could only be in one position and it squirted straight into your face and the water first thing in the morning was should I a little on the cool side!!
As for the food which so many of the complaints seemed to refer to, we had a lovely choice of food every evening. There was a choice of various salads, soups and lovely crusty rolls for starters, and the main meal usually consisted of mainly chicken, veal, pork, there was always a choice of vegetable and the most lovely baby new potatoes and for the less adventurous chips. The hotel caters for a wide range of nationalities (not just the British!) I cannot understand people who want to go abroad and eat burger and chips!! If you want this type of food this hotel is not for you stick to "British Pubs" in Spain!! The breakfasts were the best there were continental style, cereals, bacon, eggs, scrambled eggs bean, bacon, sausages in fact too much choice to mention and to top it all at around 8am a chef dressed very smartly in his white uniform would cook fresh pancakes, what more could you ask for?
We would then go and sit and relax on the comfy settees in the lobby area have a coffee and listen to the lady playing the piano, and we really enjoyed having a drink in the bars especially the safari bar. It would really spoil this beautiful hotel if there was tacky entertainment like karaoke or bingo if you want this type of entertainment then this hotel is not for you. In my opinion it would benefit from changing the casino (which was always empty) to a disco bar just a small suggestion.
This was a fantastic hotel and I cannot see why it gets some bad reviews it certainly made our holiday!

The hotel was brilliant the staff friendly and the food was good too.
As for entertainment how can people say there was none why is this such a surprise, all brochures I have read clearly state there is no entertainment in the hotel, people seem to moan for the sake of moaning.
To anyone travelling to this hotel IN THE FUTURE you will love it ignore all the bad things others say they just aren't true.
