I had read reviews on this hotel and had thought that they had been exaggerated. Unfortunately they haven't.

Luckily we received an apartment room that was quite spacious. Room turned out to be o.k. Shower curtain rail broken and we seemed to have some sort of leak in the bathroom. The sheets didn't fit the beds and rolled up during the night which was pretty annoying. We also had issues getting towels and we were told on two occasions that there were no new towels available. Then room needed a good airing as well as it seemed pretty stale. The maid was very nice though.

There is also a lack of lifts and you often have to wait a while to get one.

The rep was really nice and helpful.

The restaurant is a complete joke and it was a fight at both breakfast and dinner to get a table. The restaurant is far too small with too few staff who were among the most unhelpful and discourteous people I have ever met. Even when tipping quite substantially they look at you as if you have come from another planet and are really ignorant towards you. They just looked bored out of their minds. We also found this at the pool bar where we were treated really badly by the staff there. We thought we were paranoid but on speaking to other guests we found that they all agreed.

The food is awful in the restaurant and my wife ended up with an upset stomach. There is variety but it all tastes really bad. Luckily there are plenty of restaurants around and I

The hotel was excellent but the staff were totally ignorant and very rude. The food was like something the dog brought up. Went down to the restaurant and thought I'd entered a canteen with the food being served from stainless steel "bread bins". If you were lucky enough to find a table, you had to shift the mess from the people before you then set your own and if you found a cup you were on cloud nine and you kept hold of it all morning. In the end we gave up the fight and ate out because morning was bad enough so we ate out in other nearby hotels which were much nicer. The only thing that grieves me is that we paid for food but we had to pay for it again elsewhere. I will never ever return to this hotel again.

The hotel was excellent compared with any other we saw or heard about in Sunny Beach. The towels were changed every day and the beds every couple of days.

The only part we can be sure of is the whimpering English people who would blame the hotel for the length of the cats toenails if they thought they would get away with it, but the English moan the world over about petty things.

Plenty of lifts and plenty of security in the form of cameras and guards around the hotel.

Who told the woman every night that she was a pianist.... grim was not the word for her, apart from that... perfect.

Rooms very spacious and kept very clean by hard working army of friendly maids and cleaners.
Food was very dissappointing,Breakfast was ok but the evening meal being absolutely dire, cold meats, instant mash and soggy french fries and a lot of frozen veg,
however i found the sauces from the kitchen very good and always hot!! The sun bed situation was a complete joke we managed to secure 2 sunbeds on our 2nd week when the hotel was about half empty, and again it was annoying that you had to pay for sunbeds and brollies on the beach which for us cost 18 lev per day(

All iIcan say after reading poor reviews of the Victoria Palace is what a contrast we experienced! The hotel looks amazing inside and out and the room we had was fantastic.

Plenty of room, very clean and with a sea view. Sometimes a struggle to get a pool bed but no worse than other places. Location is very good being straight onto the beach and a nice stroll to the centre.

The pools were very pleasing if a little cold. We found the food very good and varied over the two weeks which with two children is no mean feat! The staff were very helpful and friendly all our stay. There was no entertainment but we had been made aware of this. Overall a excellent hotel and would gladly return in the future.

Hotel was very clean and to a high standard.

Food was terrible.

Staff were as helpful as could be but struggled with English.

Pool and bar areas excellent.

No entertainment.

Would go again to hotel and Bulgaria but maybe without the kids.

Just arrived back from the Victoria Palace and all we can say is wow what a Hotel, it is right on the beach, fantastic pool but like others have mentioned it is hard to get a bed, the hotel now though is removing any towels that or on the sunbeds before 08:00 unless they are occupied. The hotel is kept spotless by the hundreds of cleaners that are employed, the rooms are cleaned daily with clean towels, bedding is changed every other day. We did not have a room with a sea view but this did not take away the enjoyment we had staying there. Right now to the food, all we can say is that it is edible, breakfast consists of Bacon, eggs ( a little too cooked for our prefences) hotdog sausages, scrambled eggs, boled eggs and the usual continental salads and cereals. Dinner was Veal, Veal, Veal and occasionally chicken and pork. after the first week we ate out a lot more than stayed in the hotel.

The hotel and room standard is definitely that of a four star hotel with the maid service being on the whole very good.

The food is dire, with everything being steamed under metal covers. Unless you went into breakfast and evening meal very early it was a fight for food and seats. The standard was about that of a 2star not a 4star, with veal, soggy chips and instant mash every night! Not one person that I talked to had a good word to say about the food!

The location of the hotel was lovely, really quiet, but within easy reach of the resort centre. Lot's of shops bars and restaurants within minutes.

The only really friendly member of staff was the maid the others had faces down to their knees most of the time.

The only entertainment was an out of key pianist playing the same songs every night. Yippee!

I would not visit this hotel again as we all felt ripped off by the poor quality of the food and poor service we received.

Started with a four and a half hour delay. Arrived at the Hotel Victoria Reception and was very impressed, allocated our 2 rooms which were booked 1 year ago and requested a sea view, balcony and rooms to be on a middle floor adjacent to each other. The rooms given were on the 8th floor and not next to each other. We opened one room were the children/adults were to stay, and then the nightmare began. The room smelled of damp walking into the room the carpet was soaking wet. You could push the water from under your shoes as you walked about the room and the curtain had been pulled across what we thought to be the door to the balcony, but all that was there was a window. On looking around the room you could see were the water level had reached via the water mark on the plaster. We then left this room and went to the second room which was not adjacent, no smell of damp but pictures of naked women pinned to the wall, again no balcony just the window.

Off I went to reception to asked to be moved to more suitable rooms only to be told that the hotel was now full and they were only the night staff so I would have to speak to the day time staff. The time now being 5.45 am and we had left are home in Liverpool 2pm that day. We had no option but for all 4 to stay in our room once the pictures had been removed. After a couple of hours sleep we returned to reception and made the same request stating all the problems with the rooms. The receptionist asked who allocated me the rooms as these were used by staff and should never had been given to me,that's not my problem it's yours so can you please move us this now being Saturday 7th Aug. We were told we could not be moved until Monday 9th Aug some time in the afternoon. They said they would send a cleaner to try and dry up the water in the room this she did by leaving the bed spreads lying on the floor and nothing could be done about the smell.

I then waited for the Balkan rep to attened, as I said this being Saturday. We decided that we all would have to stay in the one room until the move. Monday arrived and we were allocated two new rooms, I said we would view the rooms to see if were suitable. Great, the middle floor and adjacent, no water on the floor but in both rooms the wall into the bathroom had the water marks, they also had balconies, but no seaview. I did not want to take the rooms as I knew that rooms facing the sea and beach were availble. On return to reception I asked about these rooms only to be told they were allocated to guest arriving later that day. By this time my wife and kids/adults said lets just take the rooms which we did. We did get to see the Rep on Tuesday, she offered us use of the spa for all the inconvience, WOW.

Meal times what a joke. The restaurant could not cope with the amount of guests as it

Arrived at Victoria Palace and was well impressed with what we saw as we entered lobby. Illusion was soon shattered, my room was not ready. Were told would be 5 hours. Went to friends room, which was next door to ours, and found we were looking onto building site and air conditioning units for all of the hotel. We immediately returned to reception to ask to be moved, the girl who had checked us in suddenly couldn't understand English and pointed us to a girl wearing badge of "guest relations"who said would see what she could do. Ended up getting into the room, 6 hours after arrival, which was soaking with damp and smelled awful(delay was obvously due to them trying to dry the room out) With help from friendly Balkan rep. next morning we got moved to another room at 1.00pm, so got unpacked 24 hours after arrival.

New room ok but if occupants of room above bathed at same time as me I was showered with their bath water as I soaked!

Of the hundreds of staff seen I can honestly say only one bell boy and two of the bar waitresses were worthy of their jobs, the remainder were unhelpful, rude and made us feel as if we shouldn't be there.

We tried the dining room several times thinking the food might get better, it only got worse as the week went on,then one of our party found an artificial fingernail in his cabbage(after putting it in his mouth) so ate out after that, something we didn't expect to do staying in a 5* hotel as Balkan brochure had rated it.

I can honestly say if I were offered a free stay in this hotel I would refuse and think the Tour Operators should look seriously at peoples complaints and address the problems before taking hard earned cash from next seasons holidaymakers expecting 5* treatment and getting less than 1*
