We visited this hotel in May 2005 we found the hotel to be the most friendly that we have ever visited. The staff are a credit to the management, whom may I add helped to clear the beach after a tropical storm washed up loads of debris.
The hotel is well positioned on the beach with plenty of sunbeds and ample shade. The snorkeling is fantasic from the beach.
The bedrooms are spacious and clean with clean towels daily.
The buffet and the al-la-carte restuarants are excellent, we never had to wait for a table and the meals were always prepared and served to our satisfation.
The animation team are all hard working and extremely friendly and put on really good shows, (one of the highlights of our holiday was watching Chris Blizzard what a lovely voice that guy has)there is something to do all the time but the entertainments team do not bother you if all you want is to relax.
Look out for Pablo Piccasso and his donkey!!
The grounds of the hotel are well tended, don't forget to have a look around the spa and take your camera!
Whilst at the hotel I had a massage which was 55 minutes of pure luxury!
If you want to enjoy a little bit of heaven on earth the the Casa Del Mar is for you.
I will return and it will always remain one of my favourite destinations.

I had to drag my husband home from this place ,(and he normally wants to go home before the end of the holiday). He loved it, I loved it and so did our little girl.
One complaint (if you could call it that,)there was a bit of leaving the towel on the sunbed thing going on, but if you can,t beat them, join them!!
The staff were fantastic, the place was spotless and the staff never stopped. Nothing was too much trouble and I would recommend it to anybody.

Oh my goodness!!!! what a fantastic holiday!!! Although it took about 1 hour and 15 mins to get from the tiny airport it was nice to see the real part of the island where the locals wave and cheer as you pass. This was topped off by a welcome drink/cocktail in the reception,(we were 1st off the bus).
As it was christmas the hotel was beautifully decorated with a massive tree in reception, the nicest I have seen and the gentle sound of 'silent night' in the background. If it wasnt for this we would have never remembered it was December!!
With the bell boys more than happy to help, they have you quickly checked in and shown the way to your room. The complex at first seems daunting but after a few days it doesnt appear so vast and you feel very welcome.
The rooms are great,we stayed in block 5 which seemed perfect as it was close to everything. Two double beds, a good selection of TV channels, and not to mention a mini bar(real size fridge) that was restocked everyday with bottles of sprite, coca cola and rum and water.
There was an ice machine on the ground floor for everyone to use and yes it was fumigated every week if you wished. This hotel is far from anything so if you want a lively night life with bars all around this is not the place for you at all.
There are 4 fantastic a la carte (off the menu) restaurants who all serve fillet, YES FILLET!!! and its even better than ours at home. You must try the nachos in the saona grill with the salsa, it is to die for!.
There are loads of bars in the copmplex who speak good english and are always ready to please you. There is a pizza bar that has pop corn machine and there are nightly movies shown on the beach on a big screen, this was good for chillin after a night on the champagne that seemed top flow freeely!
Thompson hold a welcome party on Friday nights on the pier where they serve loveley fish and chips and champagne until you can't have any more and are all lying around the pier complementing the hotel and the sunset view( this may have just been us).
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, you realy have to go and try it it was the best ever!!
*Do remember to take plenty of us dollars as the exchange rate is awfull and if you like to tip as I think you will find they deserve it will cost you a bomb to change sterling and their pesos. If we went again we would take 300 us dollars and no other money at all and would probly come home after 2 weeks with half of it left.
*If poss see you rep about vip lounge at the airport. It is only $21 per person for the way home (free drinks and snacks and free internet and so worth it for the air con as the airport is terrible and roasting.
Good luck hope this has been some help!

This was the best holiday of our lives.
The hotel was so clean it was unbelievable, no sooner had my husband put a cigarette out than a waiter cleaned the ashtray away and put a fresh one in its place. If you had finished your drink they were there asking if you'd like another.
The hotel couldn't be more idyllic on the pure white sands with so much going on all day and night it

The Casa del Mar was impressive from the minute we walked into reception - spotlessly clean and well-designed.
The choice of places to eat, as well as the quality of the food on offer was better than we had expected. The Asia restaurant served lovely chinese food while the da Marco alternated between Tex Mex and Italian. The only reservation we had was that everything in the italian restaurant was served with mashed potato unless you asked for pasta!! The main buffet in the Bayahibe restaurant was fresh, varied and interesting with something to please every taste.
The pool area is well laid-out with plenty of sun-beds. Be aware that the trellis areas round the pool only offer partial shade.
The beach is all anyone could wish for. White sand, turquoise sea and enough loungers for all. Shade is provided by trees and umbrellas, the low ones by the pier being particularly shady for most of the day.
Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff anywhere in the complex. They were without exception cheerful, polite and helpful.
The evening entertainment was provided by the same tireless team which hosted all the sports activities during the day. We only saw one show, but only because we were 'exhausted' by about 9 o'clock each evening and sound asleep by 10. Ehat they lacked in professionalism they made up for in enthusiasm.
For me one of the best experiences was the time I spent in the Metamorphosis Spa. Prices were a little cheaper than at home and the whole spa area is a haven of calm and luxury where I was treated like a princess on 3 separate occasions during my 1 week stay.
For a holiday of sheer indulgence the Casa del Mar certainly fitted the bill perfectly.

Casa Del Mar is truly a four star accommodation. Spotless,to the degree once a week they fumigate each room (you have the option to decline this service)Rooms cleaned each day with the change of towels daily and your mini bar re-stocked.
The hotel is set in it's own grounds that are beautifully maintained continuously. Directly on the beach, white sand and turquoise sea!!lush. All the staff are so friendly and as mad as hatters some of them... in particular Freddie and Pablo, total nutters but hilariously funny.
The entertainment could have been better in the day - unless you were on the beach you would not have known about the daily activities - the pool has water polo and volleyball only and that was sporadic.
Evening shows were very entertaining although not everyones taste... the best night was 'play back' and the 'Michael Jackson' evenings Great Fun and well put together.
The Food was excellent, with a choice of 5 restaurants never stuck for choice, we have four boys and they loved all the meals we had from Chinese,Italian,US Diner style or the buffet - Excellent all round and would definitely go back

I visited this hotel in July - August 2004. We were there for two weeks.
This resort was wonderful. I enjoyed it as I am 19 years old I enjoyed it very much.
The hotel was really clean and kept well. The staff was wonderful always gave us a friendly "Hola" every time we saw each of them.
I stayed at block 5 which I thought was kept very clean.
I will tell you something we all loved this resort all 8 of us, we are going back next year in August. We went out on the quads twice and thought was wonderful, luckily we brought old clothes with us as they got very dirty but it was worth it.
Hope to have a great time next year.

My husband and I have so far stayed at this hotel twice and it is so wonderful we are going back on 17th Feb 05 for another 3 weeks.
We also stayed in block 5 each time. Staff are superlative and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Could I suggest people tip weekly at the bar, after all if you were on a different pay basis you would tip regularly.
Rooms were spotless and the fridge was topped up every day. We loved the shows, Michael Jackson has been going three years at least and had changed slightly
each time.
Staff ensured everyone had a good time. The Reps even kept books for exchanging.
