Well what can I say but brilliant!!

We were there from Feb 16th to 2nd March and have booked for the same time next year.

The weather was amazing , it rained on just one night and bright sunshine the rest of the time.

The day time activities were well organised and were fun to take part in or just lay on your sun lounger and watch and laugh.

The evening entertainment was well worth watching ,we were even dragged up on stage a couple of times to join in !

The food was good enough and even the most fussy of eaters would of found something to eat. Ensure you book the
restaurants well in advance and make the most of them.

Our room was fine we were in block 56 upstairs and had a nice room over looking the golf course.

The maid came daily and if you tip she will look after you well.

Take mozzie creams and make sure you put it on before you go out for the evening as thats when they attack.

The wave pool is fun and the kids all love it over there though we stayed mostly at the activities pool as there is always something going on over there to keep everyone amused, we most enjoyed the water polo matches of which we the guests beat the entertainers not once but twice !!

Cocktails are the main drink, my favourite was sex on the beach or tequilla sunrise but they will make you any mixture you wish.

The shop on site is expensive so try to remember everything you will need.

Kids club is on at convienient times and the staff are well trained and keep the kids amused all the time. It is very safe so make the most of it if your kids like doing
that sort of thing.
The beach is fab though i recommend you go in the sea in the mornings as it is calmer, then gets rather rough in the afternoon.

Take dominican peso as every thing is priced in them so if you pay in dollars you will lose out slightly.

If you are a chocolate lover like myself, take a few bars as the chocolate is not the same as in england and even the english bars such as snickers are expensive and taste all wrong.

Excursions.. I would recommend the Outback Safari, that was a great day out and Ocean World, you must do the dolphin swim ,it was an experience of a lifetime and extremely reasonable in price, we upgraded from encounter to swim on the day and I am so pleased I did.

Also if you have sea legs and seriously if you have sea legs, do the sosua free style catamaran, I did feel a bit rough on the way there but my goodness it was worth every queezy moment, the fish are something else, so many beautiful colours and so many fish, I would recommend you take an underwater camera.

I will do this again next year but will hire a snorkle set from the hotel and get a taxi or hire a car for the day and drive there as it is only 20 mins away.

We met some great people and even made friends with a family from England who we are going back with next year, hi Louise andy, molly and jack :)

At this time of year at seems mostly Canadians there and just a few English, but I found the Canadians great, they are very sociable and easy to get on with, we spent many hours chatting with them about all sorts.

So all in all we had a fab time my husband and children cant wait for next year.

Hope you have as much fun as us.

Steve, Marie, Stacey, Charlotte and Ashley from Lowestoft, suffolk England. Flew out on December 23rd 2007.

We stayed at the resort for Christmas and New Year.

On arrival the staff were very nice and helpful. We were very disappointed with our rooms as they were at very low standard and were nothing like it had showed in the brochure, we opened the patio doors and they came off the rails in our hands, our main door did not shut properly, when it rained everything got wet and the rooms smelt very damp.

When it rained the entertainment room got very wet and floors were very slippery and dangerous. The variety of food was the same every day and was not cooked properly, beach was good and the entertainment was good but the same everyday. Not enough entertainment when wet weather.

Childrens clubs were not too bad and soccer school was enjoyable for my son. overall this is not a 4 star complex our rating 2 star.

Take away the palm trees it would be another form of butlins which we have down the road for half the price.

Would not visit this complex again but would book another holiday with first choice as the staff were all brilliant.

Ater reading some of the previous reports, to say we were apprehensive after booking this holiday is an understatement. Butif you are planning or have booked a holiday here don't panic!!!

The hotel is very clean and yes it can be very slippery around the poolside bar area when it rains, but warning signs are clearly visible. Our room was cleaned every day and was both spacious and comfortable.

the food was something else, always freshly prepared and hot.i would recommend a visit to the a-la-carte restaurants, espiecially the japanese lotus and the carribean on the beach. No problems with the food at all.

The location is directly on a very nice beach, with lots to do to keep the kids occupied.Beware of the kyaks as they are difficult to get in,as my partner found after banging her head several times!!!.

The staff are great and like it when you get involved with the activities. We were always met with a smile from all staff including the bar staff who work extremely hard.

Evening entertainment improved throughout the fortnight but in the main was dissapointing, the have got to get rid of bingo and magic numbers every night, it became tedious. Themagicians were good but if the rspca turned upand saw the state of the animals they would far from be impressed!!

Overall an enjoyable experiencewhich I will definately repeat in the future. Watch out for the mossies, you have been warned!

Well............It was great !
A bit worried after reading some reviews but all in all this was a really good holiday especially considering the price. Our room overlooked the kids playpool. There wasn't really much of a terrace but hey ! who really wants to sit there anyway . Room clean and really spacious although very dimly lit which was ok except for getting ready at night. Bar staff were lovely , always smiling and eager to please, it pays to give them a little something every now and then cos they will have your drinks ready when they see you coming and they really deserve the tips. Beautiful grounds and beach was nice , lots to do , we were only there a week but could have stayed longer and would have no qualms about returning. Nothing really negative to say ,the entertainment could be improved but it was adequate and yes there are mozzies but if you're sensible and spray regularly with the good repellent (50% or above "deet") then you should be ok , we only took a few bites, nothing serious.

When we arrived check in was a bit busy and hectic but it was pouring down with rain so every one wanted there room as quick as possible. Rooms were nice high ceilings which made it seem airy and the room was nice and clean.
We found the hotel staff friendly and helpful,we did have some problems with our room, 1)air con broke 2)the roof leaked, reported both and someone came out and fixed it on the same day had to nag a bit to get it done but they fixed both problems and sent some fruit to our room the next day to apoligise for the problems, other then that no other problems.
The food was good.
The swimming pools were clean and great, we spent must of the time around the wavepool for my daughter and it was less busy here.
Cant say much more about this hotel, we as a family had a lovely holiday here really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to others.

I went to the holiday village in september 2007 and loved it. The food was good and always a wide variety to pick from. The waiters were really friendly as were te bar staff i couldn't fault them. The bar staff put on a great bar fire show. The room was always clean and fridge always full. The entertainment for the first part of the night wad boring and always them same with bingo, but the show after that was good always different the 2 weeks i was there. The only thing which i could say let it down was i was really looking forward to the beach party and it got cancelled becasue it was going to reain and it never did. The weather was lovely and i am going back this year in september.

I got married in this hotel 13 years ago when it was a 4 star Jack Tar, it was a wonderful hotel. Now it has been changed into a version of Butlins. No way is it 4 star.

The wavepool is nice but very dangerous, also the entertainment area is very slippy when it rains and believe me this year has been a very bad year so far for the rain.

Rooms leak and personnel belongings get spoilt. They will not move you. Paid extra for family room, the layout of our room was very poor as you had to pass through the children

Do not travel here as a single parent!

Kids club was excellent, but they dont tell you its only 3 hours per day, in two sessions, so you cant go/do anything else.

It is apparently unsafe to travel into the major towns, and was recommended to use a taxi, who would wait for you and bring you back

The prices outside of the all inclusive were horrendous!

we were told that this hotel was new and it was all singing all dancing, don't belive a word of it. when we got ther we found out that it had just been renamed (formerly the jack tar)and had a few alterations. we'll start with the rooms, small and badly lit while i understand why energy saving bulbs are used a celing light would have been better than just a few lamps. the bed was fairly comfortable though but if there would have been three in the room pity the one who got the sofa bed! the bathroom was small with a very shallow bath and the toilet kept breaking (cistern chain kept coming off the leaver). at other hotels we have been to when we got in at night we'd sit and have a drink on the balcony or patio, not here though there was a patio it had been taken over by a very large bush so we did'nt dare sit out at night for fear of being eaten by the mossies. others in our party got flooded constantly when it rained (the first nine days at around 5 o'clock the heavans opened)
the food in the main resturant was bland and very samey not much veriaty, the beach bar was nice and seen as we spent most of our time there through the day we were thankful of that though again not much choice food wise. the themed resturants on the other hand were very good if you could manage to book them, i had to get up at 6am in order to have a chance of booking them (they start taking bookings at 8am) and then i was'nt always successful. the bar staff were good though not enough of them and always tried to keep the queues down best they could, the adult bar was very very good, clean, air conditioned, comfortable seating and steve who did the entertainment was brilliant (his version of ghost riders in the sky was, lets say differant) the entertainment in the family bar was average.
