We went our honeymoon to the Jack Tar resort in Playa Dorada. It was far from the trip of a lifetime.
On arrival the resort looked nice, although the rooms left a lot to be desired. The decor was dull and the rooms were not entirely clean, the bath was covered in mildew with a layer of brown scum around the taps. We paid a healthy premium to upgrade to the superior room which consisted of one huge bed rather than 2 king size beds!! Not exactly fantastic value for money!
In our first week the toilet flooded 5 times!! We complained every day before the rep eventually agreed to move us, the resort staff were blaming the rain!
Our new room was apparently a further upgrade - there was a kitchen, which I had to close the door on to avoid the stale smell.
The second room turned out to be as bad as the first. The air conditioning was extremely old the ceiling fan rattled and the lock on the door was broken, we were guarenteed it would be replaced 'manana' but this never materialised.
The staff were very friendly although the entertainment was very repetitive and very loud!
The hotel was a 1 minute walk to the beach which was great and the food was really good - excellent variety.
This hotel is badly needing updated, in particular the plumbing!

We spent two weeks at the Jack Tar hotel which was our first all inclusive holiday. Sadly the hotel is beginning to show its age (an understatement)

Food was fantastic the room was very big, location of the beach 1 min from the hotel, the hotel entertainment was really bad.

We did have a fab time here as we try not to moan and just relax and make the best of holidays, however I have to say this IS NOT to 4 star standard.
The rooms really let it down, you could hardly see out of our window it was so dirty and going to to the bathroom just scared me! Wires hanging out and cracks on the walls in bedroom. Our friends room was much the same and we had already been moved as we paid a premium supplement and they tried to put us in a broom cupboard (could have been as tour company we used had double booked around 180 people and they were practically rioting in reception) ha ha

Complex was very nice, not over crowded at all. Could always get a sun lounger, and then pool was always quite. No children were allowed which we found very nice when we was there. The food superb and the staff very very helpful. There was a group of 10 of us, and we have all said that we would all go back. would recommend to anyone.
