Well all i can say is WOW!!! this place was wonderful.
After a fantastic flight out with Thomson, we arrived at resort about 30 mins after leaving punta Cana airport.
Check in took about 5 mins tops, we left our luggage to be delivered by the porters. 10 mins later we are sat in our lovely room with cases delivered.
We went for a 2 minute walk to see the beach and what a beach we found, white sand blue sea pure paradise. A little meandre of 2 mins along the beach we found the most wonderful beach bar, happy smiling, singing, dancing barmen poured our drinks and we sat and took in the beach and its magnificent surroundings.
After a while we walked round the corner to the pool area which was lovely and quiet.
After while we returned to the room and dressed for dinner, a little walked thru the fantastically manicured gardens, full of bananas, mangoes, coconuts and most fruits you find in the exotic section at the supermarket, over a bridge and into the restaurant.
We chose a table by the water and my son sat and fed the flamingos, ducks and peacocks that wandered by.
The food was amazing everything was fresh and cooked in front of you.
There were 9? a la carte restaurants to choose from as well if you did not fancy the buffet restaurant. we tried a couple which were lovely but with a child in tow we preferred to dine in the buffet.
The daytime entertainment was very good as well they came round the pool/beach and invited you to join in but never pestered, my son and i both won medals and t-shirts which was lovely.
If anyone is thinking of going to the Dom Rep please try this hotel as it is truelly wonderful.
I would be most happy to answer any personal questions regarding this hotel if there is anything that i have not touched on, please PM me.

A fantastic hotel, with excellent staff and entertainment, the only hotel I have ever visited where guests queue to join in organised activities. I love dancing and keep fit and could attend up to 4 classes per day, all professinally led.
Rooms are large and airy and the mini bar is stocked daily. The food in all restaurants and at the pool bar is extremely varied and excellent quality. Pool area excellent with plenty of sun beds all with soft cushions.
Weather was disappointing, six days of cloud and rain, but the staff always did their best to change the entertainment to suit the conditions. I was quite ill (nothing to do with the hotel)and the medical services were fantastic, including an overnight stay in the 'private' hospital. For the Dom Rep I would rate this hotel highly and would consider a future visit.

Having visited the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon in 2002 I decided to take my wife on a surprise return trip for our second wedding anniversary. We previously have stayed in Iberostar properties and I knew that the quality should be good.
The Bavaro certainly lived up to this expectation and is certainly deserving of it's 5 star rating. The room was spacious, bright, clean and very comfortable, we were also lucky enough to have great views!!
The restaurants were very good and range from a buffet style restaurant to a speciality restaurants. The standard of food in all was very good, and hygeine standards are clearly met. The bars were very good, together with a huge choice...the only problem being trying to find the way back to the room after a few rums...but that's another story!!
The beach is great, just what you'd expect from the Dom Rep...white sands...beautiful sea, and sun!!
We are playing a return visit here, and my wife has said that this hotel had the slight edge over the previuos one we stayed in, being the Iberostar Dominicana, although this was also excellent with great flamingos!!
We would, without doubt recommend this hotel very, very highly!
