Beaches

The beach is black, man made and is built on re claimed marsh land, where if you are taking a nice early morning stroll, you will catch the staff fumigating the trees to eliminate the hoards of sand fleas and mosquitos!

The resort itself was very clean, the beach was o.k.
If you want some peace and quiet then go to the beach as it is quite noisy around the pool area with the entertainers trying to keep you amused. They do there very best.
Entertainment at night was good, there was a variety of different shows 7 nights a week. After the shows everybody heads to the strip which has karaoke ,disco, casino, and Burger bar. The entertainment continues well into the morning and has great atmosphere.
All in all it was a great holiday we all enjoyed it even me wee girl at 6, and we will return to this hotel in the near future.

Have Just got back from the Bahia Pricipe, Had a fantastic time. Hotel is lovely and clean you will always be able to find someone to help you with any problems.
The staff are really nice and friendly, loads of activitys to do during the day and in the evening the put on a disco and games for the kids and then at 10pm they put on a show.
This is the second tome i have visited here and it just gets better each visit.
There are 4 swimming pools and a lovely clean beach.

As mentioned earlier there is nothing to do in 'resort' there are no nearby hotels. The nearest town is Cabarets which is a good 20 mins by bus and that’s a popular surfing resort with budget friendly hotels and surf shacks.
If you want to get out and about you have to go on trips.
We spent a fortune of trips. One was a jeep safari quite expensive but money goes to the local charity which helps build schools for the local children. They take you to a family’s house for a snoop round and a Dominican coffee. Again the family gets money for this and it helps them to get by in life. You go to a 'zoo' or so they call it, take a ride in a boat down the river which is scary and the last bit they take you boogie boarding on a surf beach which was one of the best bits of the holiday.
The next trip we went on was swim with dolphins which was great. They pick you up and you get to go pick everyone else up from other hotels which gave us a chance to have a nose at the other hotels in Playa Dorada. Again expensive but worth it if you love dolphins.
The last trip was the trip to Saona Island. It's where that famous bounty advert was filmed. I'm so glad I went because it was stunning. Lunch is included that was a beach bbq. The trip was extremely expensive about £150 for each of us I think. But we had to get a mini bus from our hotel to the airport in the south then there were 2 planes with 20 people in each we flew to the south of the island. All got on a coach to the 'docks' jumped in a few speedboats and were on our way to Saona. And then of course all that back home again. It was a long day the plane was very very scary indeed not good if you’re scared of flying. Beware of weather conditions the trip only goes on certain days. If you book it in the 1st week and it gets cancelled like ours did you still have another chance to go but not if you book it for your second week. Infact on our original day on the first week we missed the collection at our hotel and they left without us (it was early like 6am!) But we found out that when the rest of the guests who were on the bus got to the airport the flight was cancelled and they couldn't go due to bad weather. So that worked out ok for us anyway. Beware!
Don’t do what we did and be late as you wont get your money back we managed to because it was cancelled at the last min anyway. But they are quite strict.
Beach wasn't what I expected not white sands but as it was my first time I didn't realise that the north of the island wasn't the Caribbean sea. Still okay beach if you don’t mind a bit of seaweed.
Sorry for babbling on and on but I hope this is helpful.

The resort was extremely clean and tidy and the cleaners made a real effort to make the rooms lovely with flowers on the bed and inthe bathroom every morning. The beach was lovely except for the sand ants that bit you to death!! be aware of those.

the resort is v clean.resort entertainment is watchable but if you want a bit more life then visit the carribean stret at the front of the hotel this is also part of the all inclusive package, there are a few shops, medical centre, and bars and casino.the beach is not white sand more a caramel colour and the sea is not that clear but is nice to swim in the only problem is that the beach is crawling with sandflies .we did manage do snorkeling and husband hired a jetski which is extra.there are a few vendors along the beach who sell excersions but we were warned off them by our rep who said they were not insured.
