Superclub Breezes in Puerto Plata. Excellent pool, restaurants.
Buffet was ok but not enough seating. Beach was very scenic but red flag every day but 1. Activities and entertainment were great. Grounds very lush with lots of spots to sit in the sun or shade.
We were 4 in our 50's with our 78 year old mother. The accomodations were more suited to spring breakers. Mom had to be moved 2 times before she was near us. The first room had a major leak from the ceiling which we were soon to find out was very common as the showers all leaked and it took 3 towels to block the water from running out the door. No hot water and only warm water a couple of times. Single beds with very old rough bedding that didn't fit so your feet were on a rough surface every night.
The rooms were very old and in need of major refits.

Sosua itself is a bit of an eye opener and clearly shows the poverty the locals live in. It is well worth a walk through to purchase items, if only to support the locals - don't be afraid to haggle!
We didn't visit Sosua during the evening, as our hotel, Casa Marina Reef had everything we wanted.
We only had access to the beach with our hotel and it was always immaculately clean.

Not much in this resort. Ok to have a wander down in the daytime but scary at night especially as we had a 17&12 year old with us she was quite frightened.
It was also not a very nice resort to take your kids down into at night. My husband and I went down 1 night it was lit up like Blackpool and there was blatant prostitution everywhere we never went into town at night again

Resort has 1 main pool at the Reef- very noisy, with loads of daytime activity but great for the kids as filled with lilos/balls, etc ! 2 beaches, very clean - 1 on the left of resort is small but beautiful and very quiet.
Jacuzzi's were freezing and watch out for the little hermit crabs that join you occassionally !
Staff were not over friendly, unless you were tipping all the time and there were lots of German people at this hotel who were very rude !
We did the trip to Paradise island which is fab but a long bus journey (6 hrs in total) but the pictures are amazing.
Although the complex was okay/the entertainment was good and we met some fab people, I was not impressed overall and have had better holidays in Dominican.
ONE TIP - Take Pesos or English money as the exchange rate on the dollar is very poor and you can get alot more for your money.

We only went out of our hotel twice so dont really know much about the resort.
From what we saw it was ok. Beach was great and we would go back.

There was not alot out and about in sosua it is pretty much a although big, rather poor village. Everybody is after your money trying to sell you things polish you flip flops or dragging round beautiful children begging. I was quite sad as you can't give to all of them. My friend did buy a newspaper from a man on the beach. When he worked out the exchange rate he had paid £2.50 for it and soon descovered it was 3 days old picked up, by the enterprising chap, from a bin at the airport, disgarded by a British traveler.
We were incourged by our travel agent to take american dollas with us but soon realised we would have been better with pesos. You gave the dollar and got change in pesos and never knew where you were and if you had been ripped off. Just too confusing.
A must if you have to go in Jose O'Shea's Irish bar ( don't you just love the name)good food good surrounding, straight on the beach. Visited in the day and returned for a meal at night.
Had a great day out on the amphibius tank affairs out and about throgh real(ish) Dominican villages. Except that we did stop at a designated bar in the middle of some-off-the-beaten-track village, to be greated by children who wanted to be your friend and your chaity wrist bands. We were served drinks ( resonable price) but then asked to buy sweets to give to the children. We agreeed but didn't realise till after we had spent £10 on them. The kids who we gave the wrist band to semmed to be watching the barman too much as if they had to hand them over as soon as we were out of there.
But racing through the countryside on those vehicles was so exhilarating. Would love to do it again, and seeing how the real people live certainly opens you eyes. Though why a mad was blowing river water up a chickens bum is yet to be seen.
We also did the dolphin swim which most people found amazing but just didn't do it for me. A born coward I was absolutely pertrified and wasted £65 keeping as far away from the dolphins as possible. I know. What a plank.
The beach at sosua was nice with quite a few bars and shops along it we didn't go down there only once in the day but it had more of the caribean feel about it than the superclub hotel.
I think I would visit the dominican again but not sosua.A bigger resort and do my home woprk first and go where recomended my someone I know.

Sosua is a lively town. It gave a great flavour of Dominican life. Quite an experience, and if you can learn to say no to the sellers, then you will have a great time. Very safe to walk about with some really nice bars to try away from the hotel. Just remember to watch out for the mopeds flying about! Really enjoyed this holiday, but remember, if you don't want to, you don't have to leave the hotel, but it would be a shame not to just to experience the typically laid back attitude of the Dominican people.

Sosua, situated on the North Atlantic Coast of the Dominican Republic is divided into two districts, El Batey and Los Charamicos.
Sosua Beach more than ½mile long separates these two communities with El Batey to the east end of the beach and Los Charamicos to the west.
The beach is a truly fantastic place to socialise with the local people or you may prefer to relax in peace. Here on the beach you will find more than 100 vendors offering souvenirs, local craft, cafes, watersports, diving etc.
Sosua has many good restaurants and bars. The all inclusive package should not deter you from venturing out and trying them. Eat and drink with the locals and experience their friendliness and hospitality.

Central in Sosua, market close buy and enough nightlife for this holiday.
When in the Carribean be prepared for being hassled to buy, some people find this annoying but what do you expect in a different culture!!
A must is Sosua beach, looks like you see on the films.
New to the island and a must is Sea World it was great swimming with dolphins and if you're a bit braver a swim with sharks!
