We booked a suite in the hotel this year as we considered the rooms to be on the small side, and thought as there were three adults in our party we would have more space.
When we arrrived we were met in the lobby by the doorman who remembered us from last year, he quickly unloaded our hire car whilst we headed to reception to book in. We were shown to the bar and given a welcome drink whilst our luggage was transported to our room.
The suite proved to be very successful and very roomy basically two rooms divided by an interconnecting doorway. We had a lounge area with table and comfortable settees, a huge balcony with two exits. The lounge part had its own toilet and handbasin but no shower, the bathroom itself had a separate toilet and bidet and a jacuzzi bath. On arrival on all three beds there were bathrobes and slippers, and in the bathroom the usual selection of toiletries. The maid service was excellent towels changed as often as you wish. Linen changed every day.
Food was very varied, my sister who is vegetarian was well satisfied with the choice of menu, although I did feel at times there could have been more variety. Certainly for non veggies there was an excellent selection every night. Breakfast was the same every day, but still plenty of choice.
The very pleasant thing about this hotel is the staff they are so friendly, whether you've stayed here before or your first visit, they cannot do enough for you. Nothing is a trouble.
Once we had unpacked we rang down to reception and asked if it was possible for more pillows. Within 10 minutes of the phone call the housekeeper came with a full supply of as many pillows as we required. This is just a sample of the hospitality of the staff here at St George.
Cyprus is a wonderful place and the islanders are very friendly anyway, however, some people (like the staff here) go out of their way to make things just that little bit special.
The grounds of the hotel are immaculate, there is always someone tending the gardens watering the lawns, and even they smile!

Our room was situated on the ground floor, and had good views of the sea but the pool view was obstructed by the restaurant roof which extended from the large balcony/terrace. The room was very spacious and had a bed settee and chair. The bathroom was o.k. but surprisingly for a fairly new building, beginning to show signs of wear and tear. However, the maid kept the room spotless and supplied fresh towels every day. Personal beach/pool towels supplied on arrival as were the dressing gowns and slippers. Pity however that they only supplied a medium size.
The grounds are excellent and kept spotlessly clean. The hotel is located next to the rocky beach, it does have a very small sandy cove, we were there in March and the sea was quite rough at times and looked as thought it would be dangerous to swim in(if brave enough to bear the cold), best to take local advice at the time. The hotel is set well back from the main road and we were never troubled at any time by traffic noise, in fact, although it was fairly busy, it was still very quiet and peaceful.
We found the quality of the food, especially at dinner, to be excellent. Varied menu every night with an excellent choice of salads, hot buffet & carvery. My only complaint was that some of the tables were put very close together and it felt a bit cramped at times. Found that by going a bit later you could get a better table as it became quieter. The lunch menu was very good and reasonably priced. Good choice also at breakfast.
Good compact gym with modern equipment. Good sauna & steam room with clear warning notices re standards of dress which, were printed in two languages but were clearly for the attention of Non British guests. The indoor pool was a bit small and could have benefited from better lighting. However, it was still quite pleasant.
The Hotel is not within walking distance of Paphos but is within a 10 minute bus ride. Two buses, No's 10 & 15 pass every 15 minutes and cost 70 cents, about 80 pence. A taxi is

Thompsons pass this hotel off as a 5 star hotel by awarding it 5'T's. Guests we met believed it was 5 star & paid extra for the privaledge. The hotel is ok but it is not 5 stars. The rooms are on the small side, with little furniture. The bathrooms are basic & have no bidet.(You should not put paper down the loo) The daytime & evening entertainments ( with 1 exception) are poor or non existent. The gym, both pools, jacuzzi etc. are only open 9am to 7pm. So no pre breakfast workouts or swims.
There is a frequent bus service into Paphos, but this does not run winter evenings.
POSITIVE-
On the positive side, The staff are very friendly & courteous. the food is good, if a little bland with a large selection. Vegetables are limited but there is always plenty of salad. The breakfasts are good, sometimes with 2 choices of bacon. The English sausages are exceptional, - The best I have ever had abroad. There is a fridge & TV with BBC in the room.

The reception check in was appalling. The rooms were tiny and very rarely cleaned and in need of an update, Children were allowed a free run of the bar area whilst the entertainment was in progress.
Apart from reception the staff were freindly and helpful. We found that the prices were quite cheap compared with other hotels we have stayed in and we found several quite places in the hotel where you could sit and read.
We will not be going back!!!

The hotel and bedroom were always kept spotlessly clean.
The food was so good we did not eat out, as we had expected to. Wonderful variety, superbly cooked.
Lovely gardens, lovely beach.
The evening entertainment was not to our liking, but there was enough room to have a quiet drink elsewhere in the hotel.
Prices were good for Cyprus, with a happy hour of half priced drinks.

The staff were friendly but we found that the bar service was very slow. Also the indoor swimming pool could do with being cleaned.
We found Cyprus very expensive and therefore will not be returning to the island.
The wedding was perfect and we all had a lovely holiday except for the weather being bad for most of our stay.

Food was good. Service was perfect, pool was perfect, beautiful sunning area with plenty of shady trees. But please, please, please no more marriages in St. George.

The food was excellent quality and a good variety and well cooked. The rooms were very clean and the air con was a godsend as it was so warm there.
The hotel was a bit out of the way of town, but only a short taxi ride away.
