Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

There were plenty of shops & bars in the Pernera end of Protaras with goods shows in the bars for the evenings.
Protaras itself was really good again with plenty of choice for evening entertainment. The beaches were a bit rocky in the Pernera end but Protaras had lovely beaches , although quite crowded.

Protaras was a holday never to forget. Clean, friendly, safe are just some of the words I could use to describe it. Restaurants were brill, Bars even better!. favourites were..... Waves (friendly staff). Greenery(cheap cocktails)and Bells (cheesy music with dance floor). With plenty to do for all ages, we met friends there, group of 26 of us in total ranging from 7-60yrs. Each of us have no faults. During our stay.we went on a glass bottomed boat trip which was really lovely, hired jeeps which we took around the island. We are planning to go back next July and am sure we will enjoy as much as this year,I would find it very hard to believe bad reports from anyone staying in Protaras.......... Enjoy your holiday

Pernera beach is a quiet part of Protaras, the beach is not brilliant, is used for fishing and scuba diving. Busy at weekend with locals.
Protaras itself has a McDonalds, lots of themed pubs/bars with pool/snooker/x-box,internet access ,restaurants and shops-boutiques, jewellers and the usual gift shops. Very busy in the evenings with many bars having cocktails at £1 each (Cyprus £'s).
The part of the resort we stayed in was quiter and suited us.
The main part of Protaras is busy and has plenty of evening entertainment for younger singles/couples. Felt personally, not suitable for children, later in the evening.

Protaras is lovely, lots of bars in the centre a bit loud for the little ones though. Lots of Elvis! There is a Bar/Resteraunt just outside the Cavo maris entrance called Americanos,we spent a lot of time and money there the meals were quite cheap, Alana a Romanian girl worked there she was very friendly, we had our wedding evening there they reserved tables for us and even presented us with a beautiful Boquet of flowers.
Its about a 10-15 minute walk(depending on how fast you want to walk)with little bars and shops on the way. There was a local bus stopped outside the hotel which was only 80 centsto wherever you went.
Fig tree bay was nice but very crowded.

The resort was ace, definately worth hiring a car and going to Nissi beach,Kanoss bay and fig tree bay they're all beautiful.Have a drive down to Pernera its a lovely resort, although quieter than Protaras. While you're there you must go and see Barry and Yvonne at the Steels Phoenix bar, they are 2 of the most friendliest people you could meet, the food is gorgeous and Yvonnes Hilarious! we miss them already. If you cant find it ask for the bar that burnt down last year the whole block burnt down so all the locals can point you in the right direction, its near Knights pub just keep going straight down to the end you wont be sorry.Would definately do it all again!

While the main centre of pernera was a ten minute walk away and the centre of protarus was a few minutes away in a taxi, there were enough supermarkets, resaurants and bars within a couple of minutes walk away for our needs - at the end of the day we had the choice to stay within a minute or two of our hotel or go into the main centres.
The beach which was at the back of the hotel was a lovely little cove type beach - with plenty of water sports - the children loved the banana boat and the ' floating bouncy castle'
we did find cyprus to be more expensive than anywhere else we have been to - a small drink of coke around the pool was one cypriot pound which is £1.20 - having three children it did work out quite pricey but then I think everywhere is getting more expensive these days
Overall this is one of the best places I have been too - it was brillant for the children my eldest daughter and her friend (they are 16) loved it - my other two children aged 14 and 12 and my nephew who is 10 loved the place too - I just want to go back!!!!!
