Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

The resort is lovely as clean with some beautiful beaches. with diving recommended with the Poseidon diving school.
The food in the area is excellent and you can eat a three course meal from 5 pounds onwards.
I recommend eating at the Super Grill next (ish) to the hotel that I stayed in (Sweet Memories)

Protaras is a lovely family resort which has a wonderful beach, sea is calm and clear, there are plenty of good bars and restaurants to keep you going for two weeks.
There is a Mcdonalds, a Friends bar, only fools and horses etc. We also tried a Japanese restaurant in the cultural area which was fabulous.
Plenty of lovely souvenir shops. One way traffic through main street. Everything close by.
The beach is definately the winner in this resort.

The resort was top class, really clean and cared for.didnt think much to the entertainment, but there are large screen tvs in the bar area.
The beach was a mix of rocks and sand. If going into the sea I would recommend a pair of shoes as we ended up with cuts.
Resort is within easy reach of buses that take you as far as you need to go. Plenty of daytrips advertised, theres as much or as little as you want to do. Theres a water park nearby, friendly shop owners, not like the ones at home. A charming resort.

Everywhere was kept immaculately clean and tidy, the beach was clean the sea is calm lovely walks to other towns.
The town itself was full of themed pubs like Friends, Only Fools and Horses, Egyptian, lots, I imagine they would be packed in high season.
Plenty of restaurants and takeaways, even Maccy D's. A little restaurant with a parrot in the front that talks on the main high street just outside the resort did a fantastic Lamb kleftico, my partner kept going back for it!!!!
Be warned about the reps on the street that give you a scratch card and try and sell you holidays cheap, You will win we got a taxi to the office (it was raining so we had a free trip) he took us to another hotel, to a pub for a drink, he thought we were really going to buy, then when we said we didnt want it he threw a temper tantrum bad, we did come away with a free flight voucher (con) and a bottle of wine though, after perserveering we were entitled to it for listening to him.
We only had 1 rainy cloudy day out of 14 (ok 2 were stuck in the hotel room but it was hot hot hot on those days).
Plenty of activities to do on the beach, jet ski, fish ride, parasailing, boats, etc, and cheap. day boat excursions were ok. We hired a jeep, cheap from the town and travelled the island and came across some fantastic little places and coves if you look at the side of the roads.
Ayia Napa was quiet when we went, the beer is dirt cheap there and a nice collection of shops. Paphos was interesting, Tomb of Kings was interesting although felt like they needed props to help the imagination, looking into a hole in the rocks became mundane, "oh look another empty hole" Troodos Mountains were unbelievable, the views magnificent, buy fresh oranges from the side of the road, (you leave your £1 in a basket and take a bag full of oranges/ lemons) see the little churches and meet the local folk, very friendly.
Cant fault the place at all, once I have travelled to more places (we are off to Ibiza in Sept) Cyprus is definitley for me, I even got a nice tan this time.

Protaras is a pretty resort but out of season it can be a bit of a ghost town. We went to Aiya Napa which was worth a visit and Paralimni which is good for shopping.
The watersports are good fun and the beaches are beautiful. The bus service is reliable and most of the bars are clean with friendly staff. There is a McDonalds which the kids will love and a Pizza Hut!!!

We loved Protaras, it has everything you need to have a good holiday, whether you have young children or teenagers there is something for everyone.
The cafe bars and restaurants are all of a good standard and although we couldn't possibly have eaten in all of them in 2 weeks we had a good time trying.
The beach is lovely, beautiful soft sand and a wonderful turquoise sea, with lots of activities going on, or you can just relax on the sunbeds.
There are a few shops, but there are lots more in Paralimni, which is a bus ride away.
Will be returning to Protaras on October.

We were very happy in the hotel garden & around the pool so only visited the local resort of Penera in the evenings.
We can recommend the Cordon Bleu restaurant.
Protaras itself is bigger with many bars, entertainment, and places to eat, we ate out every night and didn't have 'bad meal once'
If you hire a car use a local firm they are much cheaper than the holiday companys, and make sure you visit Konnos Bay.
A lovely holiday and we are planning to return to the same hotel next autumn.
