This hotel is fantastic - we have booked again for Christmas.

The food is varied and plenty, very clean, lovely pool area and beach.

No rush for sunbeds as they are plenty with freshly laundered towels everyday.

The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you.

Entertainment is good for the children and varied.

This was a last minute deal for us, having visited Egypt a few times I was under no illusions what the star ratings actually meant but I still checked out this site a few times for reviews and went with the flow that each person can have wildly differing opinions of the smae incidents but heres ours.

The HLB is a short trip from the airport so the transfer is painless, just enough time to get the basic info from the guide and find out what time the welcome meeting was.

The hotel is a massive sprawling area of individual villas, out buildings (housing such things as the gym and kids area) and the main hotel complex. We opted for the main building as we valued the pool area over privacy and isolation.

A good decision in our opinion. We were a good 5 minutes walk thru the hotel to the room which was 1 minute from the pool and the balcony overlooke the very impressive pool complex in the middle of the hotel facing the beach.

The room was fantastic and deserved the rating, the bathroom a little untidy regarding the odd tile here and there but not 'dirty' by a long shot. The balcony as previosly stated over looked the pool area, this as we found out during the week was very quiet with regard the music played at the pool bars and ambient noise of sunbathers/guests, very pleased so far.

The amount of time you decide to spend exploring will determine your experience I feel. We strolled around the first 2 days finding more bars, places of interest (took 2 days to find the gym/squash court) and it even took 4 days before we realised there is a much better eating place than the 'canteen' we started in. (This is to the left of the main entrance of the lobby - live music and less queues)

Which brings me onto the food. This was for me not a problem as I will pretty much eat anything and love to try the local cuisine, there is always the back up of pasta and rice with ample amounts of different salads if you are struggling one or two nights to find meat to suit your palate. Even I struggled one night, for no other reason than I was being lazy and the chicken option was curried and on the bone and the fish was poached and you had to fillet yourself, this doesn't go against the resort but be aware if you are fussy then you will end up eating what you would at home !! Chips, pasta, soup, rice, bread - all available but jeez, you are abroad ;-)
Breakfast was superb, freshly made omelettes, eggs and pancakes, along with fruit, cereals, bread, cheeses etc.

Drinking on the all inclusive - Depends on the waiter but local drinks they will serve you one at a time but I used to ask for 2 pints and then go up and get the g/f's 2 drinks as well, and if they saw you emptying, then some would just bring you another. Very polite but they also like to have a laugh which can be unamusing at 10am with a hangover and they pretend to not understand the word for coffee (god I can be miserable in the morning !!)

BEWARE - if you go drinking in the nightclub - drinks after midnight need to be paid for. Charged to room or cash in

The board basis was All Inclusive, however the food was certainly not up to the Hilton standard. We were here for Xmas and found that the Xmas gala meal although we had been told was included by Libra wasn't and would cost approx 35 euros each.

The first night we went to the Lotus restaurant for our evening meal and the food including the soup was cold. On the second day we tried the Al Dente restaurant which is situated in the lobby and the breakfast was a lot better as was the lunch, but the dinners were still very much hit and miss with the quality of the food. We eat in this restaurant all holiday but by the end of it we all longed for a hot meal with potatoes, vegetable and meat cooked properly.

The service you could not fault in either restaurant. We have travelled before to Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia and we expect the food to be of a different standard however, we have had better food in a lower rated hotels and bed and breakfasts in these countries.

The Hotel staff were excellent and the location was very good with direct access to a large beach. The hotel rooms, communal areas and outside areas such as the pool and beach were always kept spotlessly clean.

The only other downfall to this hotel is that you would expect it to have enough seating in the lobby bar area for the guests and sufficient glasses, but the hotel when we left had over 2,000 guests, but seating was only available for around 200 in the main lobby bar and as it is quite cool in the evening at this time of year, there was no other option available apart from your room or the Chat & Chew bar which whenever we visited was cold. The lobby bar also continually ran out of glasses around 8pm and you had to keep hold of your glass otherwise you would not be able to get a drink.

The entertainment was held in the disco which was in the basement of the hotel. It was very small (approx seats 100 maximum)and the stairs down to it were very dark and therefore the it was not accessible to all guests, and as my mother walks with a stick, we were never able to see the folklore shows etc.

As with all inclusive hotels, you do get one or too people going over the top with drink, but in the Hilton Hotel and in the lobby bar beside security you do not expect it. There was a guest who had become a nuisance and had been pestering other guests namely women and despite having been reported to security several times that there may be a problem, they continued to serve alcohol and ultimately a fight occurred. Not something you wish to see on holiday nor in a confined area such as the lobby bar with adults and children around.

We booked this as a late holiday and had a brilliant time. We found the hotel to be really clean, everywhere you went there was always someone cleaning the floor, even the toilets on the beach.

The food at breakfast was very good, as was the food at lunch, the snacks on the beach and round the pool were also good, but we found it hard to get an enjoyable evening meal until we went to the al a carte restaurant and paid for one.

Our room was in the main building so we were close to the beach and the pool. We spent most of our day on the beach, the kids enjoyed playing on the mini golf and swimming in the heated pool.

We found the hotel staff to be very friendly ,we tipped them on the first day and they could not do enough for us, our beds were saved for us on the beach or round the pool every day.

Our youngest son who is three loved the mini disco at night. We went on a red sea dolphin boat this was fantastic it enabled our little one to see what everyone else could see when they went snorkelling.

We will be going back next year but for 2 weeks so that we can go on some of the daytrips as we did not see Cairo or Luxor.

My daughter and son in law booked this hotel online for 6 of us (ages 5 - 64) in early summer after which I then read the bad reviews from last year. You can imagine how bothered I was. Well I needn't have worried, it was a wonderful holiday.

The hotel is very big with even bigger grounds. The layout of lawns, small flowerbeds, waterways, minature bridges and pools is attractive and when lit up in the evening gives the whole area an aura of glamour. The poolside evening entertainment was spot on, relaxing and not too loud. The daytime music came on occasionally with long spells of quiet in between and all outside music seemed to finish about 11pm There were ample sun beds both round the pools and on the beach plus towells, loads of quiet areas, wonderful safe natural lagoons and although quite windy, a smashing reef for snorkling. On the beach daily there was free belly dancing tuition, volley ball, aerobics classes, a couple of hammocks.

The beach (which we found mostly clean) is gritty and there is the occasional touting for food, day trips and a camel ride but I wouldn't consider the 2 or 3 polite queries a day in any way excessive.
We went on the snorkling trip and thoroughly enjoyed it.

There is a children's club, tennis courts, crazy golf, outdoor chess, amphitheatre with nightly entertainment, courtesy buses for the more remote accomodation, disco etc.

There is no room service but the food is available almost round the clock from various outlets and the choice of drinks was more than adequate with local whiskies, wines, water, orange, coke etc on tap.

Yes, the restaurants are self service but with such large numbers of people staying on such a large site anything else would not be practical.

You had to queque but no more than a couple of minutes whilst we stayed there and an extension to the dining room looked to us imminent.

The bedrooms were the largest we have stayed in with good storage space, lots of lighting and the bathrooms were clean and more than adequate with toiletries and tissues.

Not one of us experienced any upset stomachs during the week and unlike Marmaris where we stayed 2 months ago, it wasn't the least like Backpool and without much effort anyone can remove themselves from what noise there is and find peace and quiet.

I wouldn't say it was lively enough for teenagers but for families and couples wanting a relaxing holiday with facilites if needed it was perfect. And yes, it sits by itself at the edge of the desert and you need a bus to travel to town, but surely people look up details such as this before booking any holiday.

We found all the staff hard working, polite and friendly. For someone like myself who cannot abide constant noise with its accompanying thud thud thud, it was wonderful to hear the sound of silence a short walk away.

If you are expecting silver service and up market sophistication then obviously this won't be the place for you, but for us it came as a very pleasant surprise.

This hotel was very clean and hygienic. We had absolutely no complaints concerning the cleanliness.

There was plenty of choice for food in the hotel (although not what we would choose) there was always plenty of food and it was always hot.

The location of the hotel was slightly disappointing although there is a courtesy bus that runs from the hotel into the main town itself. (Payable locally) Hurghada town was nothing but tourist shops with locals trying to drag you in off the street at every opportunity.

The staff at the hotel were brilliant. Not once did we encounter any rudeness and they did everything possible to make our stay an enjoyable one.

The daytime activities were very good with the programme running from 10.00 to 5.00 and then at night.

Excellent hotel although a bit too large for our taste .

Food was very good and always fresh with good choice served Buffet style .

Staff were always courtious and friendly the room-cleaning guys especially (I tipped ours at beginning of stay and didn't have to ask for a thing ) pool area was large and plenty of space and sun-beds also the beach area ,which was private ,had plenty of beds.

We ate mostly in the Italian Restaurant as we found it was less noisy and served the same menu as the main one (the Lotus ) .as we were A.Inc . the drinks were freely available all over the site.

One down side --The clientele appeard to be mainly Eastern european and Russian and tended to be a bit pushy at the Buffet tables although there was ample for everyone.

Hurghada Town was easily reached by Taxi in about 15 mins and if you didn't pay the driver till the return journey then you were sure that he would come back for you at a pre-arranged time .

PS Longwood's reps were 1St class

It was okay as holiday's go, nice pool, staff welcoming.

Food rubbish both had upset stomach for 1 week, the other half still ill.

The area was nice, beach fantastic lots of fish to see when snorkling. best part was trip to Maymaha island to snorkle.

Did not like the airport security as men and women want money for trolley's and putting suitcases on weighing scales and use of toilet's.

You do not have to pay so just ignore them.

I had such a good holiday that I've already booked to return soon.

The hotel was very clean, with cleaning staff being evident every time I went anywhere in the hotel. My room was kept spotless (which can be difficult with a disabled room).

I used the main restaurant the whole time because the food was good with a wide variety of choices and both hot and cold dishes were on offer every time.

The hotel is south of the main town of Hurghada which means that many of the disadvantages of being in town don't crop up. There are buses for anyone wanting to visit specific places in Hurghada.

The members of staff were probably the best aspect overall, and everyone was really helpful - often doing more than I had asked, which added to the happiness of the holiday.

Although I wasn't often awake long enough to partake of the additional entertainment what I saw was excellent.

Apart from the hotel and its staff I was there to dive and the Pirates Diving Network (which is on site) was probably the best dive centre I've come across.

As I said at the beginning, I've already booked to go back (but I've made certain I won't have to fly with Excel Airways).

My husband and myself have just returned from the Hilton Long Beach, Hurghada, after a week cruising the Nile. The hotel was very clean and the friendly staff worked hard and were quick to clear away empty glasses, dirty ash trays etc from the bars and around the pool.

The majority of visitors are all inclusive and the hotel food was buffet style or you could eat in the a la carte restaurant (at a supplement). The snacks at the pool bars or on the beach were basic - burgers, hot dogs. Breakfast was the best meal of the day, with fresh eggs and omelettes cooked to order. There was quite a choice of buffet food in the restaurant, although when we went for dinner (around 8.30), the food was never hot. I am a vegetarian and there was not a great deal of choice i.e. salads or pasta. A nice touch for the children was a special low level area for them to select their own food.

The hotel is vast with a separate family block of accommodation.

There are five swimming pools and a "lazy river" around the resort.

Although the hotel is on the beach, the sea is way out and very shallow, but the water is extremely warm.

For the size of the hotel there is a shortage of toilets and it was inconvenient going back to our room, even though it was in the main block.

The entertainment was the usual karaoke, best couple, Mr/Miss Hilton Long Beach, etc. The animation team worked hard day and night and put on a Fakir Show one night, which would have been hard to be beaten by professionals. There was a nightly disco which went on until around 4 am, but although our room was quite near to it, it caused us no problems.
