we arrived at the Tropicana Garden Palms after a"Hotel on Arrival" deal. We were generally pleased.
The pool area was nice, plenty of sunbeds-although we did get up at 5am to save the beds then go back to bed! Need to do this sometimes as it does get busy. Pool water wasnt too cold but enough to cool you down in the blazing sun!!
Staff were friendly and attentive in the pool area, topping up your drinks.
Make friends with the sunbed man as he will save you the best bed in the best sun spot for you if you become his friend.
Food was ok, got a little repetitive at times but for what we paid for the holiday, it was fine.
Waiters were very quick on clearing your table, sometimes a little too quick.
Bar was excellent, plenty of choices of drinks to choose from and unlimited bottled water which was very much needed!
Rooms were nice, bathroom needed a little touching up but rooms were always cleaned thoroughly and nice animal shapes made out of your blankets!
Reception staff were very helpful.
Dont buy jewellery from shop in hotel as they are 100% more expensive then in Sharm centre.
All in all a nice hotel for

Our room was spacious and overlooked the heated pool, which is definately the warmest I have ever come across.
The manager is very much in evidence and monitors all parts of the complex.
The shuttle bus we made very good use of to take us to the sister hotel the Oasis, El Gafe beach, where they have free beds and umbrellas, and access to the sea from the beach, which is unusual, as it is normally by floating pontoon jetty. They also run three return trips each night to Naama bay, which we did to sample the local night life and make a change from the hotel and its boring entertainment.
Well worth making use of the shuttles to break up the days and nights in the hotel.
The beer is drinkable lager but very weak and the spirits are local, not brilliant, and you don't have the option of paying extra for the proper stuff as they don't stock it.
The main object of going was for a winter break away from the cold weather and in this it was great as we had warm sunny days nearly every day for sun bathing if you so wished, but it could get cool at nights, which we knew about, and had taken jumpers and cardigans with us, which you definatley need if you are out and about.
Overall a very good holiday.
We shall return, but may consider a hotel a little nearer Naama Bay, which would suit our particular needs.

Egyptian culture expects tipping, I would recommend and so does the hotel, that if you are going to tip the staff do so at the end of your stay rather than a daily basis. They are on very low wages but always seem cheerful.
The entertainment at the hotel is generally very poor except Sunday evening when they have a "spinning man " on. This is not to be missed he is amazing. If you fancy a bit more entertainment head into nearby Naama bay.

The hotel is impressive, there is a lot of biulding in Sharm, it certainly seems to be growing very quickly, we had a nice welcome and the the site is very nice, the rooms are made up of blocks of 4 mainly, only 2 high, so made for a nice complex, we were situated in the upper floor by the smaller heated pool, each of the pools had a bar.
The heated pool was at a very comfortable temperature, the large pool was a bit bracing, ( and colder than sea temp?) but not uncomfortable if you wanted a refreshing swim.
The rooms (we had 2 as they only have 3 max ocupancy) were very large with air con, tv, fridge, would have been 2 rooms in the spannish resorts, very clean, and continually cleaned whilst we were there.
THe water seemed a little vague, not sure if its an area problem of the hotel, possibly a bit off both, generally fine but sometimes unable to get the waters cold enough...
The whole complex was kept tidy there seemed to be gardeners and staff out all of the time during the day.
With our deal you had 3 meals and if you so desired you cold get snacks from the pool bars from 11-5, drinks with meals but no water at breakfast, so if thats your tipple you just get some from the main bar the night before, just top up on bottles and put them in your fridge, for trips out etc, We didn't purchase anything , we found the beer fine (free from 10am - 12pm from the main bar and 11-5 in the pool bars) the kids had soft drinks and water, the wife said the red wind and the rum n cokes we fine too, but thats as far as our needs went.
we found the food very good, lots of choice and well presented, the staff we very keen to be of service and inside the hotel there was no pestering for tips,
The hotel isn't on the beach but insome ways we found this better away from the hussel and bussel of Narma bay, you can get a taxi into narma (

In general terms I would say that this is a three star hotel that with a little effort could become 4 star, it is very clean and in general terms is very clean. It does however lack certain things like a Gym and other leisure facilities, but they assure me they have plans for these!! I was also unimpressed with the internet facilities, there is a little shop attached to the hotel where you go for this but have to pay for an hour which is rather steep if you only want to send or receive an email. If they got all this right, it could easily be 4 star.
So who goes there

After the recent bombings we were pleased to see a visual security presance at the main gate that imediatley made us feel at ease for the remainder of the holliday.
The service we recieved at reception was first rate, we couldnt have asked for more. Generally all the waiting and bar staff treated us well but we did see some staff acting inappropriatley towards young ladies and groups of ladies. To be fair to the hotel it was dealt with swiflty by managment and the staff were made to appoligise for their behaviour.
The grounds of the hotel are superb. There are two lovely clean and fresh pools with very helpful staff. clean towels are available each day free of charge and there is a pool bar with as much local soft and alcoholic drinks as you need. If there is a down side to the pools it would be that there don't appear to be enougth sun loungers to guests and so we were unfortunatley putting towels out at 6.45am just to get a place by the pool.
The rooms are great. we had a huge queen sized bed, satalite tv, walk in shower and a fridge. The rooms are kept clean by the hardest working group of cleaners i have ever seen. On returning from days at the pool it was not uncommon to see our towels made into animals like a peacock or a crockadile, always putting a smile on our faces.
Food is served in a buffet style and is generally of a high quality. Generally the waiting staff are very friendly and helpfull but again one or two let themselves down by pestering young ladies by taking their pictures with mobile phones.
We both became quite ill after eating from the BBQ on the friday night, and this put us both out of action for the next 24 hours. My advice would be to go to the hotel doctor straight away as he was able to administer local medication that worked 10 times better than anything we brought with us from the uk. Please be aware though that there is a cost to seeing the doctor. I was charged

We were all inclusive although 'local' alcohol is pretty raw and don't even bother with the wine! The food was excellent - if you can't find something to eat at each meal you are being very picky.
The hotel was a little out of the way, but transport links are very good and we had no trouble getting around. Local taxis are very cheap. Hotel staff usually happy on cheerful, although how they do that on the poor wages they are paid I don't know. Entertainment was okay-ish, but for a really lively evening go into Naama Bay - wow, this was a surprise.
I was extremely ill one evening, but the doctor turned up right away and after some treatment (including a drip) I was back out and getting around the very next day - could not have asked for better.
I would recommend you do not delay if ill, just call the doctor as he can get you back on your feet very quickly.

The following morning we awoke to a very hot but lovely heat. The pool was of a good size and u could drink as much soft drinks and alchol as you wanted.
The waiters worked extremely hard however there were a few males who were very letchy and even went as far on a few occassions to touch our toes which made it very uncomfortable.
There was a wide selection of food and they worked very hard to provide a variety. Myself and my partner came down with stomach ache and many others were complaining of stomach upset. We stayed at the hotel for the rest of our stay due to this but still it was nice to dip in and out of the pool.
The entertainment was at 21.30 hours every night and lasted until 22.00-22.30. We personally felt that the entertainment was poor. However they did try very hard at pleasing the crowd.
Unfortunatley we booked our holiday for two weeks but left on the 7th day due to the bombings as it was just a stones throw away.

You are met with hotel staff that cannot do enough for you. After a swift check in you are taken to your room by the porter who insists on carrying your cases for you. The rooms are spacious and have the much needed air conditioning.
The rooms are cleaned daily and there is constant cleaning around the reception area.
The food is good and plenty to chose from.
The alcohol does taste slightly different but it went down quite nicely none the less.
The staff are very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Even after the bombings and during the very difficult time after the staff remained friendly and calm.
During our holiday we walked to Naama bay but was hassled constantly by taxi drivers. It took about 25 minutes and when you arrived there was restaurants, bars and shops. Luckily we were not there the night of the bombings so not sure what it will be like now.
I would return to this hotel although the weather was extremely hot for me.
