This was without a doubt the best holiday i have ever been on. I am visting again with my family in February next year and already have 4 more trips planned and booked.
The entertainment is good for children and there is a very good eygptian barbeque type thing on friday nights for all age groups.
Staff are amazing. Met now a very good friend out there from the staff. Considering there weeks wages are less than around

The two of us stayed at the Hyatt Regency for two weeks ending 24th May 2004. The weather was excellent - hot and sunny, although during the second week, there was a fairly strong (though warm!) wind which kept the sea choppy and did not make ideal snorkelling conditions. We found the beach preferable to the pool areas for sunbeds - quieter and with a little breeze. There always seemed to be plenty of sunbeds available.

Tha overall impression of the hotel was how quiet it was. Indeed, apart from when we were using the main restaurant, it only appeared to be about one third full - though at weekends several large Egyptian, Arab or Israeli families visited for two or three nights. Our sea view room (best viewed with binoculars!) was comfortable and spacious and the cleaner was one of the few staff who sought to chat.

Although ranked as a 5 star hotel, the food was not. Breakfasts were reasonable and bakery products (of which there was a wide choice)and the hand-baked pitta bread, were superb. However, dinner in the main restaurant was indifferent and the 'hot' main courses poor and usually cold. A redeeming feature was that we could have a freshly-cooked pizza which would have been so much more acceptable if only the chefs could have smiled occasionally or at least given the impression of being welcoming. We ate in both the a la carte restaurants. The Tanour was very poor - a modest starter was followed by,in one case, dry fish and the other consisted of incinerated lamb chops. We dined in the Seafood restaurant twice - the fish and chips were very good and ample - you will need no starter; the shrimp cocktail and the very filling bouillabaisse were excellent, but serving squid with chips as a starter was a bit too much! Lunches were a problem - very limited choice and everything with chips. We found the best lunches along the beach at The Grotto in The Marriot Hotel.
We would normally enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner but found the Egyptian whites undrinkable - try a single glass first! The Obelisk red was drinkable but not great. Prices of non-local wines are

We stayed for a week at the Hyatt at the end of May 2004 and tried to see and do as much as we could in the short time available while also having time to relax. A full trip report has been posted on the Egypt Discussion forum. All of the hotels at Taba Heights are pretty secluded and quiet - that's one of the attractions.

The Hyatt was delightful, beds comfortable and linen clean and fresh. We found all of the staff very friendly and always eager to help, without being pushy. At one point we were told that the hotel was full to capacity due to there being a large influx of Israeli families during one of their national holidays. This made the restaurant quite busy, but it was never a problem. The pools were busier during these few days, but we always found somewhere to site whatever time of day we turned up. On the quieter days the place seemed practically empty. The pools were all excellent, very clean and well maintained - maybe a degree or two warmer would have made them perfect. The beach area is well maintained and very quiet.

FOOD: We only dined at the Limoncello where you get the inclusive buffet for the evening meal. Even the kids (who can be quite fussy eaters thoroughly enjoyed the food). Main courses were varied and replenished frequently so were always hot and fresh. They included things like veal, chicken, beef, different types of casserole, chicken tikka (!), and burgers, pizza, spag. bol., chilli. The desserts were delicious as well. Breakfasts included freshly prepared omelettes, waffles, beautiful fresh bread, cereal etc. . Maybe not cordon bleu - but then what do expect for the price you'll pay for your holiday? we always found the staff very polite and pleasant and certainly not overbearing.

Can't rate the entertainment as we didn't go along to any.

I would have to mirror everthing noted already. We are very picky when it comes to cleanliness etc but could not fault this hotel at all.

Our only let down was that longwood flew us into Israel and the journey to Taba from there is long and tedius especially as it takes a good 45mins to get across the Egypt/Israel border. Also we had to queue over 1.5 hours on the way back at the airport and the customs officials are VERY instrusive about your personal life and grill you for over 20mins.

However, we are going back but may try the Hyatt in Sharm as we have been told there is a little more nightlife down there.

Apparently, whilst we were there a golf course was being planned which should be up and running next year which would look fabulous.

Regency Hyatt..Taba Heights
The Hotel deserves all the pariase one can bestow...everything those reviewers above say is true. However, the food is a real let down, and I am curious to know, were my party the only ones to suffer severe tummy trouble the whole time? I would really love to return to the hotel...everything about the place is delightful...but am fearful that the temperature of the food had something to do with the problem. Or was I and my friends just unlucky?..Have all you other visitors been OK?
Couldnt fault any other thing tho'...paradise.

Hi we were at the Hotel 14th November to the 21st 2002, and travelled with Longwood Holidays, www.longwoodholidays.co.uk

The flight to this Destination takes you to the fairly new Taba Airport, on arrival it is very confusing as the Staff and Rep's for Longwood shout out that you have to fill in an arrival card, the one we had been given on the plane was no good, once this has been done you can proceed to the Passport Control, no Visa is required unless you intend to travel to other parts such as Cairo, and you have to write Sinai only across the back of the the arrival card, (this does not matter for Eilat across the border we travelled there no problem)

Outside the Airport there are no Taxi's at all. (and worth mentioning for those of you that smoke, on your return to the UK once in departures it is completely non smoking)

On arrival at Taba Heights we were very impressed with the Hotel Rooms,in block A. They were very large with Queen size beds,(which turned out to be the most comfy I have ever slept in) and a really big bathroom all in marble and tiles, with a large walk in shower, the television had been left on with music and a video showing all aspects of the Hotel.

As it was dark we could only see the pools lit up and couldn't wait until Morning to see where we were, as the road from the Airport had seemed deserted,

We had ordered a Taxi to meet us, before leaving the UK, so that we could enjoy our first Evening without the usual wait on the coach, check in was great and we were greeted with a lovely fresh juice, and friendly Staff, the only thing that spoilt this, was that we left the cases to be brought up as instructed on Reception, and it took about 1.5 Hours before they were brought to our Room, we can only guess that we had to wait for the coach to arrive, as the bags were moved around on a motorised vehicle, but this totally defeated us having the Taxi, as were were unable to freshen up and get changed, to go for our Evening Meal, until the cases arrived.

My first impression that evening of the Dining Room well I was a little disappointed and found that for a 5 star Hotel it was very canteeny and brightly lit, we solved this problem on the second Night by taking our meal on to the Terrace part and continued this through the whole Week both at Breakfast and Evening meal, as did many others and there were tables set and Waiters to serve drinks.

I personally also found the food OK but not as good as some 4 star I have visited in Tunisia, the whole meal was self service, and we did find it sometimes tepid, indeed one Night the sauteed potatoes were cold, in the Evening there was a huge choice of salad to start, or soup, and many different types of bread.
The main course was always chicken or beef, along with fish some Evenings, including calamari and to follow there was the most amazing array of sweets.

As I said before the thing that spoilt this for us was sometimes the temperature of the food, and whilst there we made Friends with a qualified chef, who was staying at the Hotel, he was concerned about this, as the food is brought out cooked but not kept at the correct temperature from then on, he feels this not acceptable, and intends to take it up with the Manager of the Hotel in the next day or two, as I have told him about HT I hope he will post on the outcome on his return to the UK.

One area of the Hotel Palm Court is where you can sit and relax on cushions for those that want to there are the traditional hubble bubble pipes, (although we declined) we sat for a couple of Evenings there and it is the only part of the Hotel that we felt needed sprucing up,the cushions were shabby and in fact a few games as in other Hotels that have this facilty wouldn't go amiss, such as board games for those that want them, in this area particulary we found the young boy Waiter very very obliging, and Friendly and he really deserves a pat on the back, he is the one without a waiscoat.

The Hotel itself as Ildi said has some beautiful pools and the one at the top near to block A, is very warm so much so that we were in there at 5pm in the dark, swimming by moonlight.

One of the lower pools is not so warm, but has a lovely setting with water features etc, by this pool is the beach bar the food we had there at lunchtimes was excellent, and hot, and very reasonable about

My husband and I travelled with Longwood holidays staying from Nov 18th 02 to Dec 2nd 02.
We had been told by Longwoods on booking that visas for travel throughout Egypt were available on arrival at Taba airport. This was not so, the local Longwood reps said to write Sinai only across the back of the arrivals card and the full visa would be sorted out later which was a pain as I will explain.

Travel to the hotel was by coach, and on arrival check in was efficient. We stayed in room E311 which had a great view of the Red Sea and was very secluded. The balcony was built up very high though and you had to stand or sit on the wall to appreciate the view. The room was extremely comfortable, spacious and well designed with a massive shower.

The food was great at the hotel buffet, the salads and desserts were to die for.
The Beach bar was overpriced at night when it served seafood and I found it dirty and too noisy during the day with music blaring.
The Lebanese restaurant was our favourite with kebabs served still sizzling on mini charcoal grills at your table.

Service throughout the hotel was impeccable

I went out to Taba Heights at the beginning of November 2002 for 2 weeks and I loved every minute of it. The hotel is stunning, nothing like a traditional corporate looking complex. It's all done in terracottas and yellows with none of the rooms being more than 3 storeys high. It's made up of lots of individual blocks that all look different from the next one, it adds to the villagy feel of the place, with beautiful gardens, little bridges and waterfeatures. It's a lot bigger than you think at first sight (we didn't discover half the complex until day three!). The pools are fantastic, there are 3 in total plus a saltwater lagoon. Some people were swimming in the lagoon but I'd advise against it - it's full of jelly fish and is usually used to train learner divers. Anyone looking for good nightlife outside the hotel - this is not the place for you. The hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains. On the drive from the airport to the hotel there are no villages or houses - we didn't see a soul. The only other hotel open there at the minute is the Marriot. There is the Sofitel next door to the Hyatt which wasn't open when we were there and another hotel half built. But don't worry about noise from builders, the hotels are very much spread out along the stretch of beach and no work was going on whilst we were there. The golf course is not yet built (although it will be beautiful once it's finished) - we were told of a few angry guests who had gone there especially for the golf having seen it advertised on the Taba Heights website, which has since been amended!
The highlight of Taba Heights has to be the watersports - if you go here you must snorkel. There is a watersports hut on the beach - go and hire a mask, snorkel and flippers and venture out onto the coral which is literally 50 metres off the beach. The fish are amazing and it is an experience you will never forget. We also went on a snorkelling trip organised by the watersports centre which was brilliant. My boyfriend did his PADI diving certificate whilst he was out there which takes 5 days and it is well worth doing in such beautiful surroundings. One word of warning - always wear shoes in the water. There are sea urchins, rocks and other sealife that you really don't want to tread on, as other guests found out!
The rooms are huge and the balconies are like an extra room in themselves, they are so big. We got upgraded when our lock broke to a huge room with a kingsize bed, tall dome ceiling and massive shower.
The food is good - buffet style breakfast and dinner. We ate in the seafood restaurant one night but were not overly impressed for the price. Much better is the Lebanese restaurant.
Overall, this really was a fantastic holiday and great value for money (we booked with farawayescapes.co.uk). We liked it so much we're planning to go back at the end of 2003.

The hotel is situated between mountains and the red sea. Within the vicinity are there are 2 hotels and building work is in progress. However, this did not effect the holidaymakers. There are no shops, restaurants or nightlife outside of the hotel complex.

Upon arriving at this hotel the check-in was quick and efficient. The rooms are very spacious with large patio or balcony furnished with wicker furniture. The rooms were spotless with en-suite shower facilities. There is a mini-bar in the room which is left empty for you to stock. We had fresh towels each day.

The restaurant catered for all tastes and the food was good. There is also 2 speciality restaurants within the complex.

The hotel has 3 fresh water swimming pools
and a large lap pool. We found that there was never a shortage of sunloungers no matter what time of day.

The snorkeling is a must. The red sea boast the most beautiful corals I have ever seen. We went snorkeling by the hotel, however, there are many trips where they will take you out to snorkel in the sea.

We went to Cairo on a 2 day trip which cost $145.00. There is a trip for 1 day however there is a 7 hour drive each way and can be very tiring.

We enjoyed the trip however we found that we did not have enough time in Cairo even with the 2 days.

If you want total relaxation then this destination is great. If you want lively nightlife then TABA is not recommended.

Apart from 2 hotels and the third hotel ready for completion in January 2003 all you see is mountains and the red sea. There are no shops outside the complex for some miles.

To get to the TABA border from TABA HEIGHTS is approx 15 minutes by car.

We were at the Hyatt Regency Taba Heights during the first week of october 2002. We would not disagree with any of the above postings except to say we were not bittern by mossi's & I am very susceptable to them! We did have a touch of the gypy tummy easily cured by one pill & I thought the food was quite reasonable but my wife likes more traditional UK food.
However the prime reason for this trip was to snorkel & take my word for it, that is superb. I did 1-1.5 hrs morning & afternoon, the reef is 10-20 yards off the very good beach, but wind got up around 9.15am untill 2.15pm, making it dangerous. There are 2 designated entrance points through the reef & it is very shallow inside the reef (shoes needed). There is one shallow sandy area to left of beach that is very very good for those less sure of themselves in the water, only 2/3 feet deep even nonswimmers can snorkel here. We also did the Dhow trip to Farun Island ($50US) well worth it superb fish. I would go back here again just for the snorkelling,it beats the caribbean anyday!!.
