We stayed here because it was a quiet resort and in our favourite part of the island. There are a few restaurants on the front of the main part in Kolymbari and the beach is pebbly, we didnt go into the sea as we used the pool at the studios.
It was on the main route to Falasarna and Elafonisos which we love, at the crossroads is a good sized supermarket and bakers which sell lovely fruit and olive bread. It is about 20 minutes to Agia Marina, Platanais and Maleme are on the way, and about 30 mins to Chania. From Kolymbari crossroads you can take a road which connects with the main highway that goes along the back of Chania town and turns off to the airport or carries on to Rethymnon so even though it is someway along the coast it is not far from everywhere.
All in all this little place is untouristy and very likeable if you dont like all the mad nightlife some places have to offer. There are a number of lovely little restaurants along the main road where the studios are. We would always consider going back there!

As we stayed in the newly built section it was very clean. There was no entertainment of any discription. The hotel does not have a beach but there is one 5 minutes walk away which is dusty with large pebble type stones
The nearest decent places to eat are in Malame- walk past the co-op supermarket (the best place for food and cashpoint) then take the next road down to the right, walk to the end of the road and there are two decent tavernasd opposite each other with big childrens play areas- a Godsend!!
If you have a young child the big problem will be there is at times no footpath along the road into town and it is a busy road. This is the reason we would not go back. If you haven't booked yet and have children, try agia marina instead, if you have already booked, make sure you take a torch with you to keep safe on the road at night.
For days out, the bus to Agia Marina (gorgeous beach, sunbeds, loads of shops and tavernas) costs 1.20 by bus and a taxi back at the end of the night cost us 10 euros.
