The resort of Sisi is still just about recognisable as a quaint fishing village but more building is changing this atomosphere. The harbour was as lovely as ever and the ducks added to the atomosphere as the came tamely from the harbour water to the beach looking for someone to feed them. The boats came in and out of the little harbour adding colour and waving camera-clad day tourists who only stayed a couple of hours at a time. The beach is tiny but very picturesque and clean and you can enter the harbour water for a swim by little manmade paths through the rocks. Not everyone's cup of tea but we love it there. Here there is one little beach cafe serving drinks, fast food and hiring out sunloungers/parasols. Sisi is not for the young and lively but entertainment can be found in neighbouring bars. Very laid back, slow and quiet. The little town with restaurants and shops is on the other side of the harbour. There are other beaches fairly near but you need transport if you want to get to other resorts. Public transport is very limited and taxis are a better idea. 15 Euros to Malia by taxi. Good car hire deals to be had too. However the lack of public transport keeps Sisi quiet and more exclusive.

We stayed in Sissi, Crete, and thought that the village and harbour were beautiful. Very little in way of beach, apart from a small cove quite a walk out of Sissi itself. You could swim just off the harbour entrance though as it had what appeared to be a small man made beach, which quite a few people were using.

Olympic transfer times were exaggerated as it only took us under 1hr to get to hotel with 3 drops on the way so don't be put off, taxi would prob only take 1/2hr.
Also, it says 10mins walk into Sissi resort - straight outside the hotel are a couple of bars and few shops with car hire etc. then you take a lovely walk down a short hill and in a few minutes you reach the start of the shops and edge of harbour in Sissi.
Sissi is very very beautiful, it amazed us - if we visited again we would go self catering as the selection of bars and restaurants is ample and the prices are very cheap e.g. sardine meal/Greek chicken, chips meal about 8euro max. very good value meals.
If you walk for another 5mins through main street out other side you go into the 'Traditional Village' of Sissi which is like walking back in time with lovely authentic cafe/bars with locals sat outside.
Would definately recommend this resort. Didn't visit the beach, although went on the 'Happy Train' which trundles around for 1hr for 6euro/adults and saw a beach out other side of Sissi which had a coach load of 'Malia youths' doing a beach party, which didn't look inviting for families !!
After realising the short transfer time from airport had wished travelled down to Elounda which is meant to be very elite and beautiful ! Would recommend Sissi though, great for all family.

Sissi itself is a small fishing village full on lovely restaurants to eat and tavernas to have a drink. Do try the local drink Raki.
The Village of sissi is clean. However the roads on the walk in do have a lot of bins about that need to be emptied more often.
Not a great deal to do for children in sissy. pool crazy golf thats about it.
No beach in sissi but a nice lagoon.
We thought Sissi was a lovely resort.

This resort is very quiet and friendly.
The small harbour has some fantastic restaurants and bars (great for watching the sunset).
We didn't visit the beach although our daughter spent plenty of time on the small sandy area by the harbour - here was safe to swim and fish.
There are several tourist shops situated in the small village along with the usual car rental and quad bike hire shops.
A great place for peace and quiet.

The resort of Sissi is quite picturesque, but not much to do there really.
No proper beaches and to get anywere you have to walk about forty minutes to the main road to catch a bus. I would recommend hiring a car.
The tavernas are very basic and the shops area bit tacky, not much tradition really.
Would not go back.

Small village at north coast with plenty of fish tavernas. Beach is not so good, mostly rocky.

Lovely, small fishing village with a spattering of shops and tavernas.
Highly recommend that you take a trip on the Happy Train for €6 as it gives you a good overview of the locality.
Also recommend hiring a car as we never saw any buses to get out and about. The quayside was not within walking distance, given the steep roads and the heat!
Perfect for a chill-out holiday.
