When we first booked this holiday it was only because it was basically all we had available to us as we booked it so late.

To be honest we probably would never have gone to Hanioti as we always went to Rhodes.

After we booked, we did go on the internet and looked up the hotel with the reviews and it did appear to be a good choice.

Working in a busy and loud environment the thought of going on holiday and according to the reports, a noisy hotel was the only thing we really weren't looking foward too.

The flight was very pleasant, what short haul flight is fun and i was very happy the tranfer time to the hotel was shorter than expected.

On arrival we were greeted, given our key and went off to explore the room, which was all I expected it to be. After dumping the cases we headed down to the pool bar to have a drink, the barmaid was extremely friendly and took the time to find out where we were from, what we done and then give us her views of where to eat and where to go.

The cleanliess of the rooms were to be honest was far better than we had in any of our previous hotels we had stayed in.

The hotel is in a very good location, close enough of the night life but far enough away if you don't want it But what really made our holiday was the hosts Sakis and Vicki. The pair of them really made our holiday, friendly, welcoming, accomadating and basically fantatic. The karaoke nights are the best, we had so much fun, even billy sang which is quite rare.

All in all we had a brilliant holiday and have booked up again in june for another 2 weeks. So watch out Hanioti we are coming back! Sorry Vicki, I am bringing him back.

We did sent a friend to check the room because we had our two 5 year old children coming along. He was shown a 2 room suite with a couch that could also become a bed. When we got there we where placed in a single room and the small couch could barely accommodate one 5 year old child. All this at the same price agreed for the suite.
The sheets where changed once a week. That is fair since they had holes after all this washing but I do believe that if they become filthy they should be changed before the week goes by. We did find the same dirty towels that we used for two days and placed on the floor hopping for some new ones, well placed at the bath with all the dirt on them.
The pool was full of insects swimming before us, every morning. I had to take them out of the pool myself so that the children would not eat them. The bottom of the full was really full of insects and dirt.
Finally, at check out we where charged with an extra of 3% just for paying by credit card. It has been the worst hotel I have stayed over the last 10 years I have been traveling around the world.
Hanioti though is an excellent place to stay to. There are some really nice places to go for swimming.

My wife and I were busily searching for a holiday when I found The Hotel Tropical on the web. After reading the reviews and watching the video I had no hesitation booking a family holiday to this location. I wasn't put off by two rather negative reviews. In fact I cannot believe, after spending a fortnight at The Tropical that these people were expecting Michelin 5 Star service. However we were on our way to Halkidiki with our two teenage daughters (14 & 16). The transfer from the airport was very pleasant on a fully air conditioned coach and only took 1 hour 30 minutes along a coastal road. We were met by Vicki (Sakis Sister) and was politely asked for our passports. I had previously requested two pool side studios with First Choice and preferably side by side to accommodate our children. I was therefore very pleased to find that the Hotel had gone to lengths to make this happen. We were located in rooms 304 and 305. On first inspection of the rooms we agreed that they were very clean and more than adequate for our needs. The cooking facilities are limited and a microwave might have been a nice addition. Our rooms did not immediately overlook the pool but were very easily accessible. The rooms are cleaned most days and fresh towels and bed sheets replaced on most days. At night there was very little evidence of noise especially if you close the patio doors. We had a choice of air conditioning for an extra 25 euros a week but did not need it. We did not need a safe and often our valuables were left lying around when the maids were in our room.
Our immediate impression on our arrival was the pool size looked inadequate. However this was not to be the case. There is a small enclosed shallow area for toddlers and a deep pool for better swimmers. The pool was a source of great hilarity and it was easy to mix with others around the pool, hence we met up with Phil (The Rock) and his wife Linda who were both great fun, Mark and Fi who were a great laugh, Lee and Sophie, Nicky and Karen from Merthyr Tydfil and Eddie and Jill. The staff and management are all hard working and very friendly. They make you feel at home and are always willing to greet you with a cheery smile.
Sakis and his fiance Vicki are the bosses and Sakis also has a resteraunt in the square called the Tropical, well worth a visit, Sakis will give you a discount. Sakis has a dry sense of humour but is a great guy when you get to know him. Vicki is front person in the evenings and she organises the quiz, unfortunately she was poorly later in the holiday but still managed to keep smiling. Anastasio (Big Man) ran the bar in the evenings and was brilliant during Greek night, where he dressed in traditional Greek costume and was host for the evening. Couldn't believe he got everyone to dance to Greek music around the pool. Vicki, Vicki, Sakis and Anastasio all took part. My wife and daughter ended up dancing on the table surrounded by fire. Well worth taking your video. George is general dogs body at the hotel. He works tirelessly around the pool and he does a great job at keeping the poolside clean and the pool is always crystal clear next morning. George does his dance with knives during Greek night which is hilarius. Greek night to be definitely recommended, for 15 euros it is a great night and the barbeque is superb. Kamelia is another person that needs a mention. She works tirelessly at the poolside bar where she welcomes you with a cheery smile, whatever time of day you attend for a drink or a meal. She speaks good English as do all the staff and she proved very helpul throughout our stay, plus she helped to nurse the ailing Vicki.
We had many a memorable time during our stay, these are just a few: Anastasio ordering me to help locate our kids in Hanioti square at midnight on the back of his motorbike, doing a karaoke duet with Nicky, stepping on lots of toes when doing the Greek dance, mucking around on airbeds at the pool, listening to Phil the "Rock" singing Summer of 69, Linda singing "I want to be Gareth's girl", eating out every night, winning the quiz at the Hotel, falling off backwards on a large inflatable sofa being pulled by a speedboat, jetskiing, lazing around the pool and a brill beach which we discovered away from the busy Hanioti beach, drinking lots of Amstel, Anastasio's larger than life personality. It goes on and on!!!!!

I would thoroughly recommend the Hotel Tropical for a very friendly, family orientated run establishment. It is highly likely we will travel back there next year.

Thanks for a great holiday!!!!!

Gareth (Ipswich)

Will send some pics and videos to Sakis and Vicki

We had a great two weeks holiday in the Tropical and have nothing but praise for the hotel and the staff who run it. Vicky, Sakis, George, Camillia & of course Anistascio all made us feel very welcome. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, what more do you need you hardly sepnd anytime in them because of the lovely weather. Yes we were asked to join in the bbq, quiz and karoke nights but if we said we were doing other things we were not unduly pressurised as quoted by some other guests, and when we did go to them we had a great time. We would recommend this hotel to anybody who wants a great relaxing and friendly hotel and we would definately go there again. We made some fabulous friends who all agreed how good this hotel is. Once again thanks to Vicky, Sakis, Camillia, George & Anistascio for a wonderful holiday

I really don't know how people can complain about The Tropical Hotel. I would just like to add to an earlier review of this wonderful hotel, all the staff here are great but Anastasios, the head barman is a brilliant entertainer, Sakis and Vicki, you must try very hard to retain him for next and future years. My partner and I will be back next year.

I would like to reply to stathis comments. First of all, i would like to say that if any of my guests have any issues, i would expect them to come and see me so we can resolve them. The towels are changed twice a week and sheets once a week. All Stathis had to do was to come to reception to request more towels if he dirtied them so much. The pool is professionally cleaned twice daily morning and evening, so i fail to understand how it was dirty, and again why this was not brought to my attention if so??? I also fail to understand why this family were using the pool daily if it was supposedly so dirty?
When a hotel room is paid locally at a hotel and using a credit card, there is a standard automatic 3% charge as there is in the rest of Greece.
I, Sakis, Hotel Owner of Tropical Hotel, am very proud of my hotel and am confident my guests leave satisfied and happy. As you can see from other comments on this site.

My name is Vicky. I am Sakis fiance. I was very upset at one of the reviews printed concerning our hotel. It made out we pester our guests. In fact we are just trying to be helpful.

Sakis and I live at the hotel, and he certainly does not go round knocking on girls doors at night.

We try to provide good honest entertainment, and of course we like our guests to attend, but we do not ignore them if the prefer not to come.

We ask where they are eating,so we can give recomendations if required and not just the Tropicanna, but other tavernas too.

We returned again to the Tropical Hotel for our mid-summer holiday, and as always had the greatest time. Our room was poolside and on the reception floor, first floor as you look out over the pool.

The room was as always clean and well kept, the cleaning staff are efficient and friendly. As self catering goes we usually only manage coffee and juice in the room, as the pool bar has good food and drinks, and a super breakfast, and the Tropicana restaurant always has great food. Sakis, Vicky, and Vicky are fantastic people and we love their hospitality and friendship, great to see Mum and Dad again too. George was wonderful, happy as always and very friendly, our boys loved his sense of humour, Kammie in the pool bar is such a lovely person and so friendly, and this year we met Anastasios the bar manager, a big man with a big personality and a love of football to match (Bladesman!!). Don't miss out on the hotel Greek night, fantastic entertainment and good food, and the whole staff are invloved. Good music by the pool and a party in the bar afterwards on Saturday. The weather was very hot for us, but we enjoyed every minute.

We have just had two wonderful weeks at the tropical hotel in hanioti. All the staff are lovely, sakis, vicki, vicki anastasio, george and camelia, they all made us feel like part of their family, they especially loved and spoilt my little grandson daniel aged 3, who in turn loved them, especially anastasio.

The apartments were great, spacious, very clean and very well maintained, food at the poolside bar was good, location is good, close to the beach, restaurants tavernas and supermarkets, I would recommend the tropicana restaurant, excellent food and service second to none.

The entertainment at the hotel is brilliant especially the greek night and bbq, be prepared to get involved with the dancing, great fun. We will be going back next year.
