Afandou is a great little village with plenty of restaurants and bars where we were treated very well.A bit of a walk from our hotel but hey gives you a chance to walk off a great meal!
Didn't use the beach so can't comment on that.Bus service o.k.and loads of taxis.Really liked afandou and the island of rhodes(our first visit)and would definitely stay there again.

The village was lovely. Great tavernas serving lovely food and very reasonably priced. Great cake shop! The beach was superb, never too crowded and great for swimming. About a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Not a lot going on for teeanagers but Faliraki is only a 5 minute taxi ride with great bars and tavernas. The water park in Faliraki is brilliant for all the family, young and old!

The resort was always clean and the entertainment was brilliant. Traditional greek night every friday is excellent. Beach Standard is good and excellent views

Afandou was a very friendly town, a bit of a walk from where we stayed, about 15 minutes. the restort like any town had litter but not a lot, there are lots of pubs in the town square where you can watch the world go by.
the beach is one of the longes on the island although its small pebbles and shingle, but there are sun loungers to hire.
I would certainly return to Afandou on a future visit!

Afandu was a lovely little village about 15 mins from our hotel. The village has lots of bars and restaurants. One of our favourites was Danielles. We had a lovely meal of Pizza, greek salad and Mousakka and it was really reasonable.
Although the people in Afandou itself were nice, I felt really awkward there and I can't put my finger on it. There are loads of bars and tourist places and the local people were polite but I felt an outsider and not particularly welcome. I spoke to other people who were also on holiday and they felt the same but although no-one had a bad experience we just couldn't quite figure it out but there was a definate "atmosphere" there. Perhaps because we were there at the very end of the season and there weren't very many tourists!
There are some lovely shops though and I would recommend trying some gorgeous cakes from the patisserie. The shop is spotlessly clean and their cakes are cheap and tasty. It was a lovely little village and well worth a visit.

The resort of Afandou was a short walk away. It had an excellent choice of restaurants and cafe bars. All of which had very friendly staff. The wife and I have promised ourselves that we would visit Afandou every other year from now on. As it's ideal for couples who wish to have a peaceful holiday

the resort is theologos or tholos for short..
it consists of bars ,restaurants, shop and of course the beach.there is plenty of entertainment here from live singers , karaoke , discos and themed greek nights, so you can choose to your liking.the beach is lovely it is kept really clean . although there are a lot of pebbles .
the water is really warm . we chose the right of the beach ,because on the left there is a hotel ,so that was quite crowded but the left side is really quiet.we will be going back again next year for sure.

Afandou was a nice village. Lots of bars and good eating places. No entertainment but very pleasant to sit in the square at an open air bar and watch the world go by. The beach was excellent. Very clean beach and clear sea. The little cafe provided ices, snacks, etc. and the people there were very friendly. A train takes you to and from Afandou village and only costs one euro.

Afandou has a lovely beach and a quaint village which still sees a lot of real Greek life, the only problem is the distance between them. I have never walked to the beach from Afandou village but in the heat of the sun I can't imagine it to be a very pleasant experience (if you're elderly or with young children you'll need a car).
That said once you get to the sea there is a very long stretch of sand and shingle beach and many of the boats travelling from Rhodes to Lindos stop here for a swim en route.
The pace here is quite relaxed and though there is some choice of restaurants and bars in the village it could never be described as lively.
The village itself does have a certain charm being a 'village' and not a purpose built resort. If you do fancy a lively night out then Faliraki is a very short distance by taxi.
Afandou is not my choice of resort but has many return visitors year after year.

As has been stated by other holiday makers the local beach at Afandou is pretty bland with hardly any cafes, bars or facilities nearby, and the pebble/shingle beach is not the best I have seen.
The village of Afandou has numerous eating and drinking places to be found.
I would recommend car hire to see the other sites on the island.
