The location of the hotel is approx. 15Km from Rhodes town and costs 10 euros by taxi. There are a couple of tavernas and shops nearby the hotel. The hotel is situated on the flight path of the airport and you experience some noise of aircraft coming into land.

Very quiet place but if you did not mind walking 30 mins down the road you would find a very nice place called Trianda.

Found the location was really good - had a couple of supermarkets and bars nearby - really good place called the pegasas which had lovely food and live band and the owner put on a good show as well.

The resort itself was ok but very isolated not much to offer at all exept Bluebay which gave the resort alot of credit.
If I had a wish it would be for Bluebay to be in a different resort but all in all an AMAZING holiday!

Ialyassos is quiet but Trianda is only a short taxi ride away for good shopping, meals and bars if you want more life.
Having a young family we were happy with not being near anywhere too busy. Rhodes is also a short and inexspensive taxi ride away (roughly 10 euros) where there is lots of shopping ie Marks and Spencers etc.
If you are going to Blue Bay Hotel look out for Pegasus Restaurant which is a short walk away the food is great, and it also has entertainment on certain nights. Well worth a visit

The resort we stayed in was Illyssos just fifteen minutes from the airport. There was a few restaurants close by to the hotel can't comment though cause we never visited them.
The beach was sand and shingly. There was pebbles to walk over before you got into the sea but it was sand underfoot then. Lovely clear warm water.
We would definately visit here again.

as above, but beach was lovely especially the sun sets. The staff at the aqua park were fantastic and without them the holiday would have dragged even more than it did.

The complex is situated in a lovely setting, right on the beach. There are plenty of bars and tavernas close by, with a supermarket across the road (run by the hotel). One of our favourites with called ‘The House’ and was to the right as you left the complex. Very cheap and friendly, with a typical Greek atmosphere. Huge portions though and you always got a few extras after your meal. To the left you will find lots and lots of shops, tavernas and bars, one of which is a new bar called Cavo Tango. It’s more expensive than some of the Greek tavernas – 6 Euros for a G & T and 4 Euros for a bottle of Mythos as against 4 Euros for a G & T in other bars. This bar is built to look like Oia in Santorini and has a fantastic atmosphere. It was definitely the ‘in’ place of the resort and the Greeks seemed to love it. I think they also own the Restaurant Pezouli that is just a few yards away from Cavo Tango – not a bad place to eat and again very nice interior (blue and white). Ialyssos is bigger than you think and there are many more shops and tavernas in the main town area, which is approx 10 -15 mins walk.
We were taken to lunch at the Dionysos restaurant, which is a la cart in the evening, but a relaxing snack bar during the day (by the aparthotel pool). It was very good, especially as we didn’t pay for it! In all there are five different places to eat within the complex and you can opt for a meal plan offer. We opted to eat out as this is the reason we like timeshare.

TRIPS AND SIGHTSEEING:
Rhodes Town – day and night is a must – bus service runs from the hotel 4 times per day there and back (not that frequent). It’s fantastic and I am sure you don’t need me to tell you about the old town. At night the place takes on an entirely different atmosphere will a huge selection of tavernas, shops and bars. Much more expensive than Ialyssos, but well worth it. Explore the back street for more authentic Greek places to eat. There is also a thriving trendy area that is frequented by the movers and shakers of the town – some of the bars in this area have hubble bubble pipes – not tried these of course being a non-smoker! Not sure what was in them but it smelt suspicious…… I was told that ‘pot’ is legal there, but I don’t know if this is true. All in good taste and nothing seedy about it. The New Town is fantastic for designer goods and they even have an M&S, but we didn’t go in, so don’t know what it was like. This area has a very notorious bar street that belts out the latest disco sounds all night – didn’t go, but was told about it. A taxi is 8 Euro each way – reception will order one, although you pay 1 Euro more for the privilege. In addition to the bus from the hotel you can get buses that stop in the town every 15 mins or so from the bus terminus, but you have to walk approx ¼ mile to the hotel complex. The hotel bus drops you off at the terminus. A trip on the ferry is a must to Symi, it is a lovely authentic Greek island and is 19 Euro each return. There are many different types of trips you can make to Symi and they all leave from the harbour in Rhodes Town not sure of the price of these.
We hired a car for 3 days from the rental desk at reception. They were doing 3 days for the price of 2 and was comparable with outside car hire firms (80 Euros included insurance). Take the car back with the tank as you found it. Cars weren’t marvellous but okay. Very pleasant and helpful man in charge. Visited Lindos, Old Kamiros & New Kamiros. Did one side of the island one day and the other on the second day, stopping off anywhere that looked interesting. The third day we just flopped at a small secluded crescent shaped bay at New Kamiros, here you will find two tavernas that serve lunch and drinks – both very good.
To sum up our feelings -this is the first time we have not been happy with our accommodation, since we have been using timeshare, but this did not stop us from having a lovely holiday. All staff are friendly and helpful and seem to want you to have a good time. The hotel and hotel apartments had all been recently renovated to a good standard, and can be booked via UK tour operators – Skytours was one of the ones we noticed. Usually it is timeshare accommodation that is the better option, but not this time.
This is our third visit to Rhodes and the area of Ialyssos is very pleasant. Having stayed in Ixia previously, Ialyssos is the better of the two, although further away from Rhodes Town. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would go back sometime in the future. This side of the island gets a good wind that makes it slightly cooler than the other side, but still very hot. The Lindos side can be unbearable at this time of year.
NOTE: The mozzies are particularly vicious here. Don’t do as I did and went out on the first night without putting any spray on and got about 30 bites on my legs. Terry got bitten as well but not as bad as me. After that I made sure I sprayed my legs each evening. The second week they must have got used to us as we only had an occasional one. I don’t usually get bitten and it came as a surprise to me. There are plenty of sprays and bite creams available in the supermarkets at reasonable prices.

The Blue Bay is not really in a resort, it lies between Trianda, Ialyssos and Kremasti. We tended to visit Rhodes Town. However it is possible to walk along to beach to Kremasti and we rather regretted not doing so as it appears that it comes to life at night with a funfair and stalls, etc. Rhodes Town has plenty to offer, the Old Town is fascinating with plenty to see. On two days of the week at set times you can walk around the city walls with superb views. The Palace of Grand Masters is also well worth seeing.
The beach is pebbles and shingle, what sand there is seems mucky and the beach itself could have been cleaner.
Warning - you may get stopped in Rhodes town by "hijackers" from Club Greece. Trust us, it's not worth the prize... tell them you've already been, or just say NO. It took three hours of our time rather than the 90 minutes we had been told and I'm beginning to gather that we got off lightly!
