We have just returned from an all round excellent holiday at The Atlantica Princess. You really couldn't fault this holiday, the only thing which let it down were some of the english families who choose to go their. It is very interesting to see how different countries act when their team are playing football and lets just say the English Dad's were by far the worst!

Location
The hotel is listed as being Ixia, but it isn't its Ialyssos and I was very glad of this. Ixia is horrible. If you are looking for authentic Greece you will not find it here. All the hotels and restaurants are on the main road which runs into Rhodes Town and it is very busy and noisy. The hotels are nothing like I have ever seen in Greece before, as they are all over 10 story high, concrete monstrousities. We counted one which was nearly 25 stories and looked like it belonged in inner city London!

About a 5 minute stroll straight out of the doors of the Atlantica there are numerous bars are restaurants. The resort is quite spread out, but everything is within walking distance. Although we were all inclusive we eat out everynight, as being served an evening meal, just isn't the same as the free for all buffet. I have read a lot on this site out 'Knights of Old' restaurant, which we visited twice and found to be very good. However, please try the next restaurant along 'Navarone', we found the portions to be much more generous and the food excellent.

Hotel Rooms
We were given room 245 on arrival and we were very pleased with the room. The room had massive patio doors and even when you stood at the very back of the room you could still see the beatiful blue sky and sea. The view was lovely, especially when the sky turned pink and created a nice glow over Turkey. Our room has a huge bed (not two beds pushed together either) and another single which we tended to use as a dumping ground. Fridge, kettle with coffee, cups supplied, TV with a couple of English channels and a table and chairs. It all looked newly painted and very clean. The seaview side is definately the best, purely because you don't get any noise from the entertainment on the other side.

Hotel Food
You really couldn't fault the food. Breakfast which was served in the inside restaurant had something for everyone. The lunch was served on the outside eating area and dinner back inside. Be warned, you cannot just walk into the restaurants and take a seat. You have to wait at the entrance to be seated, although if you pointed out an empty space you could sit there. You then order your drinks with the waiter and you then help yourself to as much as you want! A nice touch is the A La Carte restuarant, which when AI you can attend once a week for free. This is to the rear of the outside eating area and is worth a visit, as its all waiter service. The only downfall of what could be a romantic night is the noise that the reps make when trying to entertain the kids on the stage to the side of the bar. This really is something else and has to be seen to be believed.

Entertainment
The hotel has an 'animation team' who seem to work tirelessly 'entertaining' and I use this word losely the guests. We originally did not book this hotel and were due to go to the Ixian Grand, which happens to be the next hotel along, but we got transfered last minute. And being honest, noisey animation teams were what we hoped to avoid, especially during the day. They seem to constantly have a microphone in their hands shouting for everyone to get together for the next acticity. This included water polo, water aerobics and then various singing and dancing to the same songs day and night. If a peaceful day around the pool is what you want, you will not get it here.

Pool Area
Further to the above, the pool area, on certain days can get too busy, although we preferred the grassed area to the rear which was out of the way and less noisy. We never had trouble getting a sunbed up here, but the beds directly in front of the pool went very quickly. The pool area isn't really big enough for the hotel and all the kids which are in the pool with their lilo's!

Hotel Staff
ALL the hotel staff were brilliant. All very friendly and they worked tirelessly to please you. The whole hotel was spotless and was all run very efficiently.

Beach
The beach will not be everyones cup of tea, especially if you have small children, but we found it to be very nice. Its all shingle, but this means no sand everywhere and we thought all the lovely white stones against the blue sky and sea, was rather beautiful. The sea, once you had got past the pebbles (about 2m in was all sand) was beautiful and clear. Now the wind which everyone talks about, is more than welcome, as we had 14 days of pure blue skys and boiling hot sunshine. Yes, there is a breeze, which is slightly stronger some days, but trust me this is nothing to worry about and is very, very welcome. It only seemed to be at certain times during late afternoon, most nights were very still and very hot.

To conclude, we had an excellent holiday, in a lovely hotel, but due to there being various other place we would like to visit we would not return.

Just come back form a fantastic week.

This is the best All Inclusive we've stayed at.

The drinks were in proper glasses-not plastic cups. There was very little queuing for drinks or food and the bar staff were brilliant.

The food was excellent. No complaints at all.

The rooms were very clean and towels were changed daily. The only complaint regarding the room was that the air conditioning wasn't very good. It didn't make the room cold enough considering the heat outside.

The entertainment during the day was great for both Adults and kids. Plenty to keep you amused.

Entertainment at night was a bit of a let down. It was great for younger children but poor for adults. There were no professional shows. The entertainment was provided by the the hotel entertainment staff and relied on guests making the entertainment ie Mr Atlantica Princess.

There are lots of bars and shops approx 10 min walk away if you do want to wander.

A brilliant hotel. I'd definately recommend it!!!!

I found the Hotel to be excellent the staff were really friendly and helpful. The service we received was top rate, and we shall be visiting the Hotel again in the future.

On top of a shingle beach close to shops and taverna's Entertainment by the First Choice Reps Nutty Nicky, Amazing Anne, Funky Fi, Kool Kate, and of course Lauren was brilliant for the children they were looked after and entertained we were all really sad when we had to leave.

Good selection of food, with different theme nights. Very clean the rooms.

Out of the 20 of us who stayed in the hotel it was brilliant!

The sizes on the rooms was great having the choices of the views were amazing the beach or the pool!

First Choice entertainment was fantastic didn't see the children when kids club were one. The boys loved playing football with the animation team and even got up dancing with them.

The service was great and we couldn't of asked for a better friend than Alex when we were there who we still keep in contact with now!

We had a wedding while over there and the hotel was great, keeping us up to date on things throughout the day while we were getting ready.

One thing for sure is we will be back before the end of this season

The hotel kids entertainment was excellent our two young boys loved them. Gentlemen for the evening meal long trousers only, no 3/4 lengths you will not get in the restaurant.

You have to get up early to book a sun bed by the pool -5a.m.!!! the only down side.

We chose this hotel after having our holiday to Kos Aqua Beach Club cancelled a few days prior to departure, and after reading the reviews on the Aqua Beach Club, I'm glad we did !!!!

We all thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, and I'd recommend it to anyone. I was a bit wary about taking a 5 month old away for 2 weeks (I'd booked 10 days at the Aqua Beach Club last year, before I knew I was pregnant!!), but it was a doddle. He was a superstar, lapping up all the undivided attention!!

The hotel was very clean (the poor maid tried her best with the clutter left by 2 parents & 3 small children in our room on a daily basis !!)

The food was excellent - I managed to put on 8.5lbs in 2 weeks!!! Beer and wine drinkable & in proper glasses (I've been all inclusive before, where it's undrinkable & in plastic cups !!)

The entertainment was OK - some nights very good, some nights not so good - very hard to please everyone, I'm sure. My husband loved the water polo & the boys enjoyed the kids clubs. The only downside was that my eldest son cut his head open a couple of days after getting there, coming off the bridge over the pool (he is very accident prone!!), and has a lovely red 2 inch scar on his head now - currently covered by his hair, but if he loses his hair like his daddy, he'll look like a thug when he grows up!!!!!

The hotel accomodation, staff, food and service were all first class. We stayed in a room overlooking the pool, and had sunshine on the room until it set at around 7pm. The rooms with a sea view would not have had sunshine through the day (it was September). We were able to get a sunlounger around the pool every day, no scrums required. There were also plenty of loungers in the garden area near to the pool. It was mainly couples, with a few families with children under school age, and all in all a good atmosphere.

The English based (First Choice) entertainment was not very good. The Jetair rep (a Belgian) provided more varied, personal and frankly more suitable adult entertainment for her guests.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would recommend the hotel and resort.

Our family travelled late September early October for our 1st All Inclusive holiday.

We came back not disappointed.

Hotel, staff and the Greek people in general are very welcoming.

Food was very good no complaints apart from a very fussy 3 year old. I must admit to putting towels down at 8am just so that we could get the sun all day as one side of the pool lost the sun behind the trees in the afternoon.

A special mention must go the Reps who work tirelessly from 10am till 11pm.Steve-O,Jay,Leeanne and Toby special mentions to you four, your manner and patience with the kids(and big kids like myself)goes beyond call of duty.

Alex, Marios and the rest of the staff can't do enough to make your stay more pleasant.

All in all a hotel that we would visit again as a couple or with the family.

The Hotel was superb we had a "Suite" on the second floor which consisted of 2 single beds, T.V Free of charge, a family sized fridge, cooking facilities, toilet. Which had a balcony with table & chairs that overlooked the sea. There were stairs down to a large bedroom with 2 single beds plenty of storage space and a bathroom with shower over the bath. This also had a balcony which over looked a children's play area and outside restaurant, pool etc. Air conditioning was controlled separately in our suite both upstairs and downstairs. They were cleaned daily and towels were changed. We kept our room up until we checked out at 01.00 without any hassle at all.

Staff very friendly and there were plenty of choices of food. They even had a children's menu mainly chips, pizza, chicken nuggets and fish fingers.

Kids club reps were brilliant great entertainment for children our 5 yr old especially liked the mini disco held each night 20.00 - 21.00 along with movies at night.

We had booked as half board, but on arrival asked about upgrading to all inclusive, it was 17 euro per day, per person and the kids were free, so after being charged 8 euro for two pints and two cokes, decided to upgrade, the best decision we made. You could eat and drink as much as you wanted all day, I would recommend doing this.

The hotel is very clean, always someone cleaning, the rooms are cleaned 6 days a week.

The food was good although there was a lack of fresh fruit, and a lot of repetative food. The hotel is more in Trianda than Ixia, the beach is only 50yds away, but very pebbly, although it's sandy when you go in the sea underfoot.

The pools were nice but they could do with new sunbeds. Most of the staff are quite friendly.

The entertainment wasn't to bad, Iv'e heard worse, they tried anyway.

We were there for a wedding, and it was also my wife's birthday and our anniversary, the staff made her a cake(although I paid for it)and there was a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit from the management, which was quiet nice, would go back sometime.
