1. The transfer 10/10 fantastic brilliant, from touching down to being sat on the beach supping beer-less than 45 minutes thats checked in and luggage in rooms, if you have a young family this is the place to go.
The hotel is immaculately clean and the staff worked their socks off to keep everyone happy.
The food was better than expected after reading some of the reviews I was not expecting much but was pleasently surprised their is lots of it and constant fresh being brought out, the childrens buffet is very samey the usual chips, spag bol etc.
The entertainment is not the best although the entertainment team does try, its the usual bingo, elvis tribute, miss doreta, mini disco. The outside bar is great for watching the sunset and you can see turkey which is only 12 miles away and the bar is only 27 steps from the beach.
The pool area can get very crowded but there is plenty of beds to go round and beach is close however could do with more umbrellas.
The rooms are poor bed, dressing table and fridge and thats about it, take a kettle with you.
There is a lot of aircraft noise but nobody who I spoke to was bothered by it and the majority of the kids loved looking at the planes.
To summerize had a great time and would recommend but a little bit to "British" for my liking.

Arrived early hours and from that point on no looking back- had a great holiday. Sum it up by saying the view from our hotel balcony was fantastic - pool, beach sunny skies and Turkey!!
The Hotel was immaculately clean.
Food was acceptable and very well presented even if it became a little boring and repetitive by the end of 14 days.
The hotel staff were brilliant nothing too much trouble and very friendly.
Entertainment was the big let down - exceptionally bad Elvis impersonator and boring bingo. However, my teenagers thoroughly enjoyed themselves as made loads of friends and ventured to the Mambo Bar over the road!!
Pool and beach lovely - only thing was sunbeds - must take an alarm to get up about 4.00 a.m. to get a bed by the pool - 7.30 at the very latest to squash in. It became a standing joke between holiday makers as some people reserved up to about 12 at a time.
Yes I would visit again and I know my family would - it was exceptional value for money and Rhodes is a lovely island to visit.

The hotel was really clean and the food was nice even though by the end of the 2 weeks it was starting to get a bit boring.
Eventhough the location wasnt great the hotel had everything we needed so we were happy enough and on a night there was a really great club where kids could go to and have a dance.
Its a friendly hotel with great staff and my kids made a great group of friends and were happy with the entertainment !
All in all the holiday was a success and we cant wait to go back next year!!!!

Food was ok, entertainment at night was for kids until 9.30pm nothing for adults, can get noisy at night.
Hardly noticed aircraft at night or day.
All round a very popular hotel and helpful staff.

Saying that we had a great time, the hotel was very clean, my two year old made loads of friends and always had something to do.
If you are travelling independently don't pay for a transfer, just get a taxi, the airport is literally ten minutes away from the hotel.
The pool was fantastic and there is plenty of room if you want to stay in the hotel grounds or on the beach to sunbathe.
On the downside if you don't like aeroplane noise don't go here, the planes literally pass over the hotel when taking off. Although you do get used to this and it becomes background noise.
If you don't like kids then this is not the place for you. This hotel is for families with young kids, all the entertainment is geared towards kids so obviously families tend to come back year after year.
This coast is also very windy (which can be very handy because it is also very hot) so get used to seeing lilos winging their way up the beach. The water is not suitable for young children as it banks steeply down within a few yards of the edge. The beach is also very pebbly (although it looked better than the beach at Ixia) so it can batter your feet trying to get in and out of the water.
Couldn't complain about the food although there was a definite improvement in choice in our second week.
In summary I have been to a lot worse but I have also been to better. As i said though this is a 3* hotel at best.

When I looked at all the bad reports for this hotel I did wonder what was instore for us ! Upon arrival (early hours of morning)the reception staff were helpful, the room was very basic and the reports about the beds are true they are hard !!! but didnt spend much time in it as all the other facilities were great and made up for the dissapointment.
Excellent swimming pools helpfull bar/restaurant staff, food lovely not repetative but could have done with breakfast being a little later.
Dont expect to get a sunbed much after 8 o clock as people were reserving them. The entertainment was a bit wierd but my 4 year old enjoyed the mini-disco which was held every night.
Dont go for the transfer option, we paid

The first impression you get of the hotel from the frontage is it "Looks a little tired" and could do with a repaint! Once in the doors and you're greeted by friendly staff and surroundings.
Our room was very basic and most of the furniture had seen better days but it was clean and comfortable with much needed air con. The hallways and corridors from the first floor upwards could also do with a make-over. The public areas of the hotel were very modern and spotless. Adults food was spot on with something for any taste. The chidrens menu was not so good as they only had two choices, one was spag bol which was offered every night!
As for the location don't expect too much. There is only a handful of shops and bars but then Tholos is one of the quietest resorts on the island.
Hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Evening barstaff were very friendly and entertaining.
The pool area at this hotel is really very good, if you can swim that is. The main pool is very deep with no traditional deep/shallow end so the kids pool can get very busy with sunbeds at a premium! The kids entertainment was good. Our two, 5 and 10, were kept entertained most afternoons and evenings by the resident team while we watched on. The adults entertainment was not so good with "Bingo" played most nights. Ok if you like that sort of thing..

On arrival we were a bit shocked as to how close it was to the airport, although the planes stopped at a certain time at night, come 6.30am they were coming in thick and fast until the evening. After a few days we sort of got use to it.
The hotel room was very clean and tidy but the double bed we had, had a great big dint in one side of the mattress, so we took it in turns sleeping in the single bed that was like a concrete block on your back. The view from our room over looked the pool area although when you looked to your left you could see the power station.
The main bar/entertainment area was clean and tidy and big open spaces so you didnt feel closed in. The entertainment was your bog standard holiday stuff but was ok. The staff throughout the hotel were polite and very friendly.
The Snack bar was burgers, chips etc.... but if you asked them for a sandwhich they would make you one there and then.
The resturant was clean and you were allocated a dining area on your first night. In the evenings they asked if would like a drink with your meal, but it took so long to get it, we were on our desserts some nights before they arrived.
The food was the worst food I have ever tasted and seen. There was no choice what so ever, if your a veggi you will starve. There was no fresh vegetables or fresh fruit. The meat wasnt cooked properly, and everything we had tasted exactly the same.
Across the road from the hotel are a few shops, bars, and resturants, they serve up some good food and great English breakfasts, at a reasonable price.
The beach area was very dirty and stoney, and could have benefitted from someone clearing up the dog mess before allowing children to play on there. Watersports were well over priced. No life guard on the beach either.
Watch out for the bridge over the pool, its a hazard.
The safety deposit boxes are in reception and not in your room.
To be honest, on the whole it was a good holiday apart from the food, that was terrible. Out of 10 on the whole, I would rate this holiday place at a 4.

Our room was on the fifth floor so we could see the sea, and was keptimpeccably clean by the friendly maids.
We did not spend much time by the pool area as it was quite busy but there were plenty of bebs on the beach and the bar was still close!!
All of the staff were friendly...we have a designated waiter and waiter in the restaurant and they really looked after us! (Thanks Kiki).
The food was average, but a major plus point was that all the vegetarian options were labelled such (very unusual) and there were at least two choices every time we visited the restaurant.
The hotel is only ten minutes from the airport so there was some aircraft noise but not enough to keep you awake at night and hey...you know this when you book!!!!The location was a great base for visiting the other parts of the island.
Didn't bother with the entertainment on the evenings as it was more geard to families but enjoyed sitting around the outside bar in relative peace (most of the kids were inside!!)
Overall we had a great holiday at Doretta Beach and would return again if the price was still good.
