I have to stick up for this hotel. We think it was lovely. The room - although basic was clean and comfy, the hotel was large but well kept (the entrance outside could have done with a lick of paint!).

Reception was friendly and had folders full of information such as places to visit and bus timetables which were really handy to have.

The hotel has a lovely swimming pool with a bar, snack area and games room very close by. A few steps away and you are ontop of a lovely beach where in the evening you can watch the sun go down. The hotel is on a flight path so you do see the planes go over every so often but it did not bother us.

The dining room was superb and so was the food. There was a huge selection to choose from, fresh and well cooked. You had your own waiter who was always friendly and polite and the restaurant manager was very professional. The food and drink was flowing all day long so you never went hungry

The bar staff in the evening were very entertaining, throwing the bottles around like Tom Cruise in the film Cocktail.

Didn't see much entertainment during the day apart from one or two pool games and table tennis. The evening entertainment was okay, people seemed to enjoy it but don't expect professional shows.

The location was really in the middle of no-where with a few shops and karaoke bars on the street opposite. There was a regular bus service to Rhodes town which did not cost much from across the road.

We did end up hiring a car for a day so we could see the sights but that wasn't too dear and we had a good day.
Overall, the staff and the other guests were great, there was no trouble, we had a lovely holiday and would visit this hotel again.

When we arrived we were dealt with politely and efficiently. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day and clean towels provided.

The dining room was again very clean and the head waiter ensured we were well looked after. Some guests complained about the food but all i can say is that we always managed to enjoy our meals.

During the day if you were hungry there was ample choice of snacks. The bar staff were very friendly even though they worked long hours. The pool area could not be faulted. Our biggest critism is that there was not enough sun shades and this does need to be adressed as if like me you like a shade then you have to be quick.

Aircraft noise does occur but was not a big prolem. I would certainly return to the Doreta Beach but PLEASE sort out the sun shades.

nice hotel, nice staff, shame it took too many people, too, toomany children although we have our own! thank god for the beach, could not sit around the pool unless we had got up at 6 am to reserve beds. Entertainment too loud for those who didn`t want it thank god for Billy`s Place over the road where we found a very relaxing atmosphere and friendly service to which we could relax & enjoy the ambiance of bieng in Greece!

The one bedroom apartment we had booked turned out to be a studio. It was cleaned everyday and the lady that cleaned the apartments was a gem.But there was no bedroom, which we had stated when we booked in feb.The location is very isolated, if you like a nice walk in the evening round local bars and sites then you are going to be disapointed. If you love butlins your in the right place,Bingo every night,in greece! What happened to good old culture like plate smashing. The staff are friendly enough, they do there best to help you,the dining room manager is a scream Dani Divito to a tee.We had to upgrade to all inclusive, the food is boring and the same at all meal times.

I returned to work today (13/05/04) from 14 nights at the Doreta Beach, which I had previously read rave reviews about from this website. I couldn't wait to put things straight. So here goes!

The pools are fantastic, you will no doubt have seen many photos of these on websites and probably think to yourself that looks nice - it does and they are, but that's where it ends.......they obviously spent their entire budget on the pools.

All I can say is this: If you haven't booked and are thinking of doing so, DON'T. Try to book somewhere SELF CATERING in the Lindos area of Rhodes.

Now about Doreta Beach. The food was at best poor; being dried up, either under or over cooked, repetative, unfresh and simply awful. My family ended up having to Hire a car for 5 days just to get away from the place, which is how we discovered Lindos, which is one of the nicest places I have ever been to.

The entertainment was non-existant on our 1st week, but very good on the second week, which almost made up for the rest of the holiday.

It's just a shame that we paid for a 2 week All-Inclusive holiday but actually had 1 week SC and one AI.

The hotel states that it is 4 star although our tour operator stated it as a 3 star plus - it is neither! At best it is 2 star.

The rooms are adequate and clean and the maid service is excellent (everyday).

We still had a great holiday and would consider going back to Rhodes, but unfortunately had to hire a car to achieve this, if you are looking to spend nothing whilst out there on your all-inclusive holiday you are in for a bit of a shock. If anyone would like more details please feel free to contact me KRHall@nmm.ac.uk.
