Vroliminos has a beautiful sandy beach and an excellent beach taverna where you could easily think that you were in the caribean as you take in the view.
Nearby Kolios is quieter and has a sand bar and beach taverna which are open in the evening.

My friend and I travelled with my parents and were looking for a holiday of late night clubbing! Skiathos town fit the bill perfectly and was just a short bus journey away. The beaches are close by and are fantastic. There is also a very wide range of restaurants. I couldn't have hoped for a better place to spend my holiday.

Skiathos has an excellent bus service so it is easy to get around and visit lots of different beaches. We would also recommend the boat trips from along the harbour.

Skiathos town is lovely. The harbour is great and lined with some nice tavernas and bars. Not rowdy at all and the old town is pleasant to walk through, lots of twisty, cobbly streets. Sheer pleasure to be in. 2005 we even saw the arrival of Posh and Becks to one of the yachts. Lots of show biz people stay there on their luxury yachts, some massive ones some owned by Greek tycoons. Bus rides or water taxi's will take you to the numerous beaches.

we stayed at according to our brochure at kolios but we found that to be a couple of bus stops further on to where we stayed at the hermes. there were 2 lovely beaches. nostos and vromolimnos. it was early may so the beaches were very quiet and there was no charge for the sun beds.skiathos town was a 10 minute bus ride away with plenty of shops and tavernas.

We hired a Suzuki Jimny to get to the out of reach places, from a friendly guy Tommy at Mamamaras Tours Skiathos Town car hire near Bus stop No 1 the New Port of Skiathos. The main tarmac road is 14 miles long and runs from Skiathos Town to Koukanaris and has 26 bus stops. The rest is just one big adventure! Get a free map from Skiathos town and start exploring don't forget to explore the old port/town you'll get lost. Taverna Portabello (in town)do a mega breakfast, eat all you want from 8.30 till 12.30 for just 7 Euros (not sure if its like that all season though). Get a boat trip from the old port at Skiathos to take you around the outside of the island, beeeautiful! when the water is calm. Seen the Dolphinos. How clear is that sea?! Last thoughts... we'd go there again tomorrow if it were possible.

Skiathos Town is an excellent base for the whole island of Skiathos. The town is clean, numerous tavernas & shops. With the old and new harbour always plenty of activity with people, sailing boats, ferries etc. Transport around the island is no problem bus every 20 mins, water taxi to 3 nearby beaches 1-50 or 2 euros, boat trips round the island stopping off for swimming or sightseeing, and full day boat trips to Skopelos & Alonnisos, well worth 20 euros, if only to watch the dolphins. The resort itself is the entertainment. Ate at a different place every night, from harbour front to 3 streets back not one bad meal & good house wine. 25 to 40 euros 2 courses & litre of wine for 2 people, and take as long as you want.We felt totally safe and comfortable in Skiathos can't wait to get back.

This was our first visit to Greece. We chose Skiathos as we wanted a scenic island where we could relax for a week in September on picturesque beaches. We were not disappointed, and look forward to returning one day. The options seemed to be (1) stay in Skiathos Town and travel out to the beaches during the day, or (2) stay in one of the beach resorts and travel into town at night for the bars and restaurants. We chose the former, and used the excellent bus service to travel to the beaches, Banana being our favourite. We experienced a few showers and the odd thunderstorm, which are to be expected at the end of September. However, we still managed to enjoy the beach, get a tan, and swim in the sea most days.
Skiathos Town is a charming place with an attractive harbour area and narrow pedestrianised streets. It felt very safe, and everyone was polite and helpful. Our favourite restaurants were Dionysus and Asprolithos. The food and service were excellent in both, and the prices very reasonable.

This is not a resort - just a hotel a few kilometers from town with no shops, bars etc nearby.

This is a really friendly resort where English is the second language but if you can muster a few words of Greek ('please' and 'thank you') this is very much appreciated.
The beaches are some of the best in Europe but be aware that the appraches may be littered by tourists.
We have visited many times and intend to go back.
