Location
Went to reception and upgraded to a room with aircon. All was fine until the next morning when we realised our room was behind where they served breakfast and was awoken by tables being set up and clashing of pots and pans. No need for an alarm clock!
The room was basic and clean. The room boys were very good and nothing was a problem. Breakfast was fruit juice and tea/coffee and toast, although you could purchase a cooked breakfast.
I was not too impressed with the waiters who appeared to be arguing about who they should serve, and level of service appeared to depend on how much tip you give. The reception staff were always friendly and helpful.
I cant comment on the entertainment or food as we were out in the resort each night. I would return to the Osborne, but not in the same room.

We found the food in general a little more expensive in the hotel than at local restaurants. Same goes for the drinks. Of course compared to prices at home they were still really cheap.
The waiters and rooms boys were great, very friendly and helpful and always smiling. However, the reception staff were not so good. Everything was a bother for them. Interestingly enough you were only allowed access to your safety deposit box up to 8.00pm each evening.
Entertainment, which took place in two of the three phases while we were there was not great by any means. But again we were out most nights so were not too bothered by this.
Would definately go back, if fact awaiting details on purchase of an apartment there.

I can't speak for the food at the hotel as we only use it as a base. Breakfast is included but this only consists of toast and tea/coffee, anything else is payable. We always eat breakfast out either at Babute's on the corner or Teama's on Candolim beach road.
All in all, a good budget hotel in a good, central location. We would definately stay again.

Rooms very basic but clean, fresh towels and sheets daily.
The only bugs were
1) the constant selling of their 'entertainment nights' by the bar staff - we did not want to be mithered whilst at the pool or having a drink at the bars, and in the end we avoided going there
2) the room boys trying to catch you every day for payment of the mini bar in your room - as we were often disturbed just as we'd got back from the beach and were in various states of undress!! (the hotel needs to work out a better system)
3) after rinsing out our beach towels one night and putting out on the balcony, we were firmly 'told' by a phone call from reception that they had a laundry service and to use that. My partner took the call and I rang back stating that I was very aware of this; we'd used the laundry 3 times already and needed our beach towels daily. I think they gathered that I objected to the way they'd spoken to us and quickly changed their tune, saying there was no problem at all.
Breakfast was not worth hanging around for, as there are plenty of better options.
The room we had (DD6B) has a sliding door to the next room, I think so they can be joined and used as a family suite. This meant that we could hear everything from next door and this could be quite uncomfortable at times. I recommend changing if you get allocated this room.
Hotel situated in a nice quiet part of Calangute, which was perfect. There is a taxi rank outside, which the hotel recommends you use(so you're not ripped off)and we got to hate the daily walk past the resident taxi drivers hassling you for fares. Use others just up the road by the supermarket - much more polite and don't give you the constant sell whilst taking you somewhere. The taxi rates in reception give you a clear idea of what to pay.

Breakfast is just tea and toast so we went 2 mins down the road to Zicos instead which was great.
Location is excellent - quiet, right in the middle of Calangute and Candolim. Hotel taxis were good and not much more expensive than down the road.
Would use it again as a base.

The staff were helpful though and after looking at 5 rooms I settled on what I considered 'the best of a bad bunch'. However once I had unpacked and spread all of my mess around the room it seemed a bit more 'homely' and despite being offered the chance to change resorts we decided to stay.
After the initial shock the hotel was okay, we got used to the room and settled in nicely.
The pools are small but clean but there are not really enough sunbeds.
Breakfast was okay although all that was included was coffee/tea and toast - eggs were extra!!!
Air con and tv's available but it is about an extra

Normally we prefer a first floor room, for security and privacy, but had the ground floor this time due to an injury. Near the bar and very noisy, but so what, you're on holiday. The boys who cleaned the room always made the towells into decorations, birds, fish etc, which was a nice touch.
We didn't use the security boxes this time, but somepeople advised bringing your own pad lock.
The pool was small but deep enough. We only ate there a few times and the food was good, and fairly cheap by hotel standards.
Fairly frequent disappearance of water and electricity, but this is Goa. One day the hot pipe from the geyster disconnected itself but this was soon rectified.
Entertainment OK. All in all more than adequate as a base to explore the Candolim/Calangute area.

Hotel very clean.
Didn't eat much at the hotel, plenty of eating places all around, reasonably priced too!
Hotel staff were very helpful and I would definitely visit this hotel again.
My only complaint would be air conditioning at extra cost, and you really need it.
