We knew it was up a side street, no problem, the enterance is uninviting with dead shrubs outside.
Reception is small and we found the staff on the desk helpful. The lifts worked during our stay.
We were given a self catering apartment at the rear of the hotel although we did not book it, this was a bedroom, separate lounge with kitchenette and bathroom.
The room needed refurbishing but was clean with poor furnishings, not 4* The towels were very thin as were the sheets, they showed the matress through them. We found the room cleaning good. Our small balcony overlooked the shell of a new building 20 yards away at the most.
There was a small pool below our balcony with a couple of sun beds.
The indoor pool was closed and is about 3 stories underground. It appeared to have a good gym and fitness room.
The main pool is on the roof, nice views. The sunbathing areas are on 3 levels. Most sunbeds were either broken or in a poor state as were some of the sunshades. The pool area and sunbathing areas were washed down each morning.
The pool snackbar and bar.
The bar was ok but the kitchen of the snackbar was dirty, I had a chance to look in, It would have been closed down in the UK by the health inspectors. It was the usual beefburger and chips and did not look very appertising. One problem was poor or broken tables in this area, bits broken round the edges which left sharp jagged edges.
The lack of rubbish containers in the sunbathing areas for cans etc was rectified during the week with two dustbins
The mainlounge was dull and uninviting it all had a bad smell which I can only describe as a dirty floorcloth smell all the time.
The carpet in the lounge and the passage to the diningroom was never hoovered during the whole week. Dirty glasses etc collected from the lounge after the bar had closed were left on the bar all day until the bar opened the following evening.
The dining room is large with plenty of room, it is mainly carpeted, this was not hoovered during the whole week, crumbs and food from the tables left on the floor for a week.
The staff in the diningroom on the whole were good sometimes standing by your table to wisk your plate away with the last mouthfull
THE FOOD !!!! Rubbish usually overcooked, no imagination and poorly displayed, although usually hot
Breakfast, coloured water to drink (fruit juice) cereal, fryup, or cold meat etc. One very small container on a table for the diningroom with brown or tomato sauce and a teaspoon.
Lunch was salad and some cooked meat and a pasta with potatoes and one veg. Sweet acouple of cake things and RED JELLY cut in squares and was like rubber, the same RED JELLY was also on again for the evening meal the whole week, obviously its the only colour in the Soreda, maybe someone is colour blind.
Evening meal was of the same pattern, salad, cooked meat and veg and the same ort of sweets, bread and butter pudding was on 3 days obviously to use up the left of bread.
I have eaten better in small 1* hotels.
One other point at the entrance to the diningroon is a notice requesting men to wear longe trousers ans a sleeved shirt for the evening meal, about 40% of the guests took no notice of this and came in in shorts etc. This would nver happen in a 4* hotel.
In over 25 years of taking 2 or 3 holidays abroad every year this is the worst hotel we had stayed in.
I had previously booked the Soreda for a Christmas and New Year holiday, On our return the first thing with did was cancel it. It was worth losing the

My wife and I stayed at the Soreda in May this year (2008), having been frequent visitors to Malta in the past, however not in the Qawra area. In short, while Qawra is fine, and does exactly what it says on the tin, we will never be staying at this hotel again. A claimed four stars, when in reality it should have an absolute maximum of two.
On arrival we were greeted by a very stressed out receptionist, surprising considering that we were the only two checking in. However there was a

My wife and I had the good fortune to stay at the Soreda from October 24th to November 7th and can honestly say we had no complaints whatsoever. Not that we

Very clean and the maid for our room was top class and very friendly and helpful.
Also the other staff were all polite and attended our needs. The food was OK, nothing special but have certainly had worse and there was plenty of it.
The indoor pool was good in my opinion - at least it was big enough to swim in rather than the size of a paddling pool as many hotels have! We liked the hotel... well maintained with a nice bar.
The entertainment was aimed at the older generation in the main but we ventured out locally most evening's anyway!

The hotel staff where courteous and well mannered. The swimming pool on the rooftop was good and there were plenty of places to sunbathe overlooking some beautiful aspects of Malta.
I would definately go again to this hotel and enjoyed my stay there.

I heard moans about everything but I had a great holiday, with always something nice to eat, lovely soft fluffy towels, changed daily and, really nice friendly staff.
I loved it and will definitely be back next year.

There was a large sunny balcony or nice cool lounges downstairs. If you want to go out for the day, the staff will pack you a nice picnic lunch. There is entertainment every night or you could stroll down to the sea (which is just 2 minutes away) and watch the sun set.
I thank the hotel very much for my holiday.

The hotel was dirty carpets never cleaned, the bedroom was dirty especially the bathroom.
The food was the same items everyday how boring and it was tasteless.
The location was awful no views at all, hotel located on a scruffy street looking at building work.
Some of the staff on reception were very rude and miserable. And we got woken up every morning at 6.30am with building work going on next door, right next to our room.
The Indoor pools were both closed and the basement pool was very very hot and dark and you had to pay if you wanted to use it after 5pm.
We had to pay for the safe in the room when it stated it was free of charge and the Italian Restaurant attached to the hotel was shut all week.
