Location
The only bad thing was the beds and the pillows, they were very lumpy and old, but we never let it spoil our holiday.

The food is very good. Probably the best we have had in Malta. Plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner, always served piping hot.
Some in the hotel thought the location was not good but if you explore the back streets there are plenty of bars and various ways to walk to the sea front.
The hotel staff were pleasant but we did not need to 'test' them as everything was ok through our stay. The entertainment in the evening is a bit old fashioned but then all the hotels in Malta seem to have the same team of singers doing the rounds.
A more modern approach would be nice, (can we ban 'Tie a yellow robbon and Knock 3 times on the ceiling!)Saying that we didn't stay in the hotel at night but wondered around the area

The hotel was mediocre clean, could have been better.
The food was appalling, greasy, and unappetising. The location was poor, a 20 minute walk to the town, and the walk is not a pleasant one, dirty and dimly lit pavements.
The hotel staff were good, very helpful. The entertainment started at 1100 and finished at 1125, poor.
Would not go back to Malta, never mind the allegedly 4 star hotel.

Staying on a Half Boadr basis was brilliant at this hotel! the food was always good and something different most nights which was really nice.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Any question you need about the nearest sandy beaches etc they are more then help to help with same with taxi ordering etc, as to young women on our own it was nice to feel comfortable in the taxi's the hotel uses.
Hotel location was good just 2 back street then onto the main road and down then bang you are in the centre, must be all of about 5-10 mins walk.
The enertainment we saw was ok pretty much what we expected for the money we paid for the week at the Topaz, the male singer was good and it lasted for a good couple of hours, hotel bar staff were very friendly and nice when they get your drinks before asking for them, good bartender skills.
I would good back again and take any of my friends and family one of the best beach breaks i have had.

The reception staff were not very friendly. We were all inclusive, the salad bar was good plenty to choose from.
My Grandaughter said that the childrens food was very repetitive chips, chicken nuggets, pizza or burger every night.
The pool bar which also became the entertainment bar at night, didn't believe in giving decent measures every thing seemed to be watered down, although the food throughout the day freshly made.
Our room although very dated was spotless, we got fresh towels every day. The Bathroom was cleaned every day, beds made, room freshened every day.
Didn't find reception staff very nice at all. The Kabin bar man very friendly. Room maid very nice.
Entertainment basic Free and easy a couple of nights.
Other nights, just a man and his guitar.

The hotel and rooms were very clean - our room was cleaned every day and fresh towels provided daily. We could not fault the reception staff - they were friendly and polite. When we arrived a cot had been provided instead of a bed. When we asked for a bed to be brought to our room, it was there before we had actually got back to the room ourselves. The hotel is very well situated for families - away from all the hustle and bustle but central enough to walk to the seafront, bus stops, St. Paul's Bay etc.... The reason why I have only given the hotel a score of 2 for entertainment is that we never stayed in the hotel to see it - there was a kids club if you wanted it which could come in handy every now and then!
All in all, for what we paid, we thought to Topaz was very good value for money and we would not hesitate to re-visit.

The reception was ok and we got our keys no problem. We were directed to the lifts down a ramp under road, there the smell of diesel fumes was awful and lingered in the lift.
We where on the fifth floor in the annexe. Our room had an adjoining door which enabled us to hear EVERYTHING that was happening next door. We had a constantly dripping tap, which was annoying and a shower curtain that didn't reach the inside of the bath so consequently we flooded the floor every time we had a shower. The balcony was very small, had two chairs but no table. The rooms were made up each day, with fresh towels available.
The entertainment was not the best, but for the age range there I suppose it was adequate.
The hotel food was varied with plenty of salads but these were not labelled so you didn't know what it was. The veg was always cold and on one occasion I had curry that was cold, was taken to be reheated and returned not much warmer. Some of the food was wrongly identified as in one night the roast was on the menu as veal but was infact gammon and pea and ham soup was mushroom. The fruit juice was was watered down cordial.
The indoor pool was ok you couldn't swim in it because of it's dimensions and the Jacuzzi wasn't working.
The hotel was about ten minutes walk down to the sea and along the front and surrounding area there where plenty of bars and cafes.
The hotel staff were ok and fairly efficient. Given the choice I think I would give this hotel a miss.

The staff weren't very helpful they gave us the keys to our room and said follow the signs, which at first was a bit of a maze down the ramp down the lift, along under the road up the lift to top floor. I wasn't impressed.
Four beds in one room, SC appartment. When I asked my rep to move he said there are only one room appartments. We had booked Half Board.
The room was clean but floors very dusty, never sea the maid in our room but beds were made towels were folded and bin empted everyday. Food was good but they billed us twice thinking we sc.
Location was ok the buses was great. The entertainment was ok at first. Towards the end of week it was boring. As for those dancers they looked liked they were pole dancers in those outfits (the men had a good time though).
There was lots of Italian students which was fine but I felt they got better treated than us especially in the restaraunt.
Oh yes the lift broke down on last day which meant up six flights of stairs. They did help us with suitcases down the stairs.
Overall enjoyed my stay but wouldn't go back.

The hotel was spotlessly clean with fresh towels every day and beds changed mid-week, our room was quite big and roomy and overlooked the pool.
The food was very good and there was plenty to choose from at both breakfast and evening meal, we took our 3 year old grand-daughter and there was always something for her.
We liked the position of the Topaz, it was about 10 mins walk to the sea front but it was very quiet at night.
There are pleanty of bars around the Topaz if you don't want to stay in at night and drinks are very cheap, we went twice to the cinema just round the corner from the Topaz all the films are in English and are all the latest. It is lovely to walk round St. Pauls Bay at night, beautiful sunset.
All in all we had a fabulous time in Bugibba and would go to the Topaz again.
