More of a 3 star than 4 but very clean and staff could not be more helpful. Location not spectacular but only a few minutes walk to the seafront.

do not go to this hotel if you want any sort of holiday
food is plain if you like chips then this is the hotel for you
rooms are 2 star not 4 star as quoted, damp smell is everywhere you go, linen is wet to the touch, plaster work is falling down in rooms,
just got back from topaz oct 1st 2003 has put me off malta for life will never go back,
island is run like a construction yard roads bad to worst cranes everywhere you look
we paid 524.00 for allinclusive but to be honest we stayed as much out of the hotel as we could because of early morning construction and damp smells
do not go to this hotel they need to knock it down and replace it with a field and then call the field 4 stars

My wife and I stayed at the Topaz from 30/09/03 to 14/10/03 and had a wounderful holiday. While I admit it is not 4 star by British standards the hotel was spotlessly clean.
Our room was excellent with clean towels every day and bed linen was changed twice a week. It was of similar size to most hotels.
The restaurant was also very clean with an excellent choice of food.
Staff were very friendly and helpful throught our stay.
We will definatly go to Malta again and stay in the Topaz.

We have just returned from staying at the Topaz. Definately not 4*. Rooms basic and cleaning non-existent. We had to complain just to get the bedding changed! Did not eat there as we were not all inclusive (thankfully). This was a last minute, cheap AOA deal or we would have complained even more. Pity the poor people who have paid full price for this place.

We loved this hotel, it was lovely, it was about a 10 minute walk to the beach front but that isn't a problem as it's nice to do some exercise after all that food and drink. The food wasn't fantastic but it was well presented and there was always a good choice. The entertainment was great every night. Our only complaint was that the owners son used to run up the corridors shouting outside our bedroom door. Once he was put to bed it was fine.

On arrival at the topaz hotel we found the reception staff not very friendly or welcoming.
We stayed on a ten night all inclusive, the food we found was very good and plentiful also. The staff in the dining area were always very friendly and helpful, the wine with the meal was good.
The entertainment was'nt very good, we did meet up with other guests and made our own entertainment.
The pool area was always kept clean.
I suspected the shorts we watered down i.e.: brandy, the beer was very good. On the whole we had a very good holiday, we would go back to the topaz, and hope there is no building going on around the topaz.

I have just come back from 2 weeks there and I found the hotel excellent, the staff were rally nice and friendly, the food was great, and there was plently of evening enterainment. In general the hotel was really clean. There was plently for me to do in the area and I love every minute of my holiday. It was great going all inclusive without the need in having to worry about playing for the food or dirnks it was well worth it as I saved so much money by doing it this way. I would go back. Well worth it.

If you don't get this holiday for next to nothing then you are going to be very disappointed. Unhelpful and miserable staff, food quality poor and repetative (15 other groups went down with stomach complaints). Rooms with generators above them (capable of waking the dead), failing lifts and entertainment driving people to bed early.

March 2000, last min booking,ad as a 4*,no waymore like 2*. Room v basic, no shower tray so bathroom flooded every time , food awful (bland, cheap cuts of meat, little choice), swimming pool too cold to risk in March, gym a joke, Royal Oak Pub OK, partner happy as they showed footie.Overall poor hotel, generally filled with the mature tourists, not families/couples
