We visited here in August 2000. We are going back in September 2002. This All Inclusive hotel was unbelievable!
The island is 2km sq wide and there is one hotel and the bungelows in the other bay only on this island! The staff, food and hotel were brilliant. You can use the hotel boat as often as you like, but it runs on a time table so you have to plan your getting back to the island or you will have a long wait.
There is an entertainment team which provide water aerobics and various things to amuse you. They provide evening entertainment which was nothing outstanding but a couple of nights were pretty good! (After the lovely dinner a nice walk round to the bungelows and a drink in there bar or to sit on the terrace with a nice drink watching the boats was a nice thing to do.) The hotel has about 10 tennis courts which are superb (but sandy so my new trainers got very dirty! I know to take my old ones this year!) table tennis, a very small gym (dont get too excited as it is very basic), canoes, pedelos, windsurfing, volleyball, small sailing boats, scuba diving (thats why we are going!)
The locals are allowed on the island and have a deal with the hotel where they stay for the day and have lunch, then get taken back to Malta at about 6pm. (This only really gets busy in the restaurant at lunch time so we used to eat from the snack bar.) The hotel is round a couple of bays from the Blue Lagoon which is popular with day trippers. Many a day we would pop down there at 8am where we had the whole place to ourselves and watch the boats arrive at about 10am with loads of visitors - so we would then disapear for breakfast and spend the day somewhere else - you have a whole island to live on and explore!
The only fault I think I could say is that we had to come home!
The transfer was pretty long but worth it. Coach from the airport and then the hotel boat to the island. (Over 2 hours I seem to think!)
I hope our return trip is just as good!
