Lovely resort especially with children, the beach being the largest on Malta.
The lido at the hotel was excellent and residents had free use of the sunbeds and mattresses.
Plenty of watersports would recommend the lido booking office for boats trips etc, a lot cheaper than travel company’s equivalent.
Comino boat trip was great but glad we only had 2 hours as there are only so many people you can fit onto a small lido and not much shade, however most of the time was spent in the sea.

We didn't go out of the hotel very much but the times we did it was ok. Streets were a bit dirty but not too bad.

Resort was very pretty but nothing to do or see, not that clean either.
The best resorts we went to was Buggiba, Sliema and Valletta which is great for shopping and entertainment.

Only gripe was that te hotel was a bit out of the way and you had to walk on the road to get to the shops - though bear in mind that there isn't many!

Mellieha Bay has one of the best sandy beaches in Malta. It does get very croweded at the weekend with locals who pitch tents and light bbq's. It is mostly families and it is nice to watch and get involved.

Mellieha is the most beautiful area I have stayed in on Malta, particularly because of its lovely beach. You have to walk out in the sea quite a way for the water to reach your chest, it is perfect for swimmers of every ability.
The sand is fine and clean too. There are toilets and a spotlessly clean sandwich takeaway, there was also a fruit barrow selling sliced melon etc. You can stay on the beach all day and not starve.
There are plenty of restaurants and bistros all eager to serve you dinner in the evening, you can enter most of the hotels too for a meal.
We didn't find any entertainment, but then we weren't looking for any!
I don't think we had a bad meal anywhere in this town.
Although the main village and shops are up on the top of the hill (you can take the bus up) they are well worth a visit. Also the resort is on the main bus route to the ferry point to Gozo, about 10 minutes away. And also to Valletta, calling at all towns and villages on the way.
I highly reccomend it and we have returned and will do so again.

Mellieha is in the North of the island and is perhaps a little quiet for the holidaymakers who are looking for "beer and skittles".
Mellieha Bay is one of the only safe sandy beaches on the island, and we found the beach bars, etc. offered good food and good facilities at reasonable prices, not the rip-offs that you get in other Mediteranean countries or indeed our own.
Lots of history to the Country, but the landscape is a little brown!!!

Melliha Bay was very picturesque. The beach was dirty though and overcrowded. Melliha is very much for the locals which i liked. They would line the coast at night for BBQS with the whole family. Maltese people are extremly friendly and curteous.
The excursions offered by the rep are a waste of time and money."the best of Malta" was a horrible day of a suffocating bus, deplorable dinner in the worst hotel in the world. The fernades boat trip reminded me of a refugee ship you would see on the news. we were cramped in so tight there was no lying in the sun, even though they provided mats to do so.
There were 2 great points to the trip.
1. Zefirinos restaurant in Melliha is well worth the trip. Food and Hospitality were 1st class every time.
2. Sicilly trip was a long day but really enjoyable. Mt Etna was awesome and Toarmina was beautiful.
The trips in Malta needs to realise we do not want to be shipped to gift shops and glass blowing factories in a 40C heat.
If you do go to Malta, Stay at the Meriden Hotel in Valetta - we will be the next time. Central location for anywhere on the Island. 40cent only on the bus for all over. Valletta is well worth the days visit as well.
