Mellieha village is up a very steep hill...we were told it would take us 15 minutes to walk up it....we took the bus as it was very hot....took us 30 minutes to walk down it!!!!
Once in the village there are just a few bars and restaurants, nothing to write home about.
Mellieha Beach - when we first saw the beach we were very dissapointed, it was dirty with rubbish floating in the water and ciggarette butts everywhere, however this was mid afternoon on a Maltese public holiday. When we returned the following day the beach was clean...but the butts remained..although not a lot you can do about that I suppose, can't have a 'no smoking' beach!!
Places to hire sunbeds and brollies - 4 beds and two brollies was 7.50 LM...about £13, also places to get a sandwich and ice creams and drinks etc on beach. It was particularly hot when we were there, even the locals were suffering so you had to wear shoes as sand was to hot to walk on. Beach gets very busy, family report that they saw more sea life swimming off the rocky coastline in Bugibba than they did swimming on the sandy beach....saying that he beach is good for younger children as it is very shallow.
Plenty of bars and restaurants on the road from the luna down to the beach although pavement was non existent in some places so you had to walk in the road. W e did not use the bars but kids had ice creams in the Tunny Net which they said were very good.

The resort of Mellieha is a very small village with little or no entertainment, you have a mile walk from the beach to the village itself which is up a very steep hill from start to finish.
Gourmet dinning virtually non existant mostly snack bars with very high prices, chicken goujons and chips 2 mineral water = £20.00.
Buses stop running at 8.30pm to capital ( valletta) no enertainment outside of hotel which was very dated, maltese people very friendly, but nothing to see or do on this island for children or adults alike.
Very expensive for very little.

We stayed in the resort of Mellieha which is a small village. It has some very nice restaurants and bars. There is a good bus service and the lovely beach is a 20 minute stroll or a five minute bus ride(though expensive for a one stop journey) I would recommend staying in Mellieha if you're looking for a quiet base just try a different hotel to the Maritim!

Mellieha is more of a working vilage and is not over run by hotels. There are shops bars and restaurants along the main street.
The main feature is the church which is very impressive from the outside.
The people are very friendly and helpful.
I like this village that is why I have been there three times now.

maybe it was just the fact of winter time, but the beach was very dirty. apart from that not much to say, cause there is nothing here. 1 gift shop, 1 supermarket on another complex. and there restuarant was full of ants and fly's. and again, cold food. the only good attraction was popeye village, a must see for the kids

You need a good pair of legs to get around Melliaha Bay and beyond, the footpaths etc are not people friendly and can cause numerious problems for people with walking difficulties. There is a good, cheap bus service to other areas of the Island. Malta buses are an experience in themselves, be warned.

Mellieha is a beautiful old village with some fascinating areas to walk around. Great value restaurants abound, our favourite was l'Escargot at the top of the hill. Our favourite spot however, was the Sea View Cafe (No I'm not kidding!) on the seaward side of the church, where you can get a beer, a bottle of wine and food whilst enjoying one of the best views in the Med, especially at night. The bay itself is safe to bathe, the water is clean but I would imagine can get v.crowded in summer. My strongest advice to any visitor would be to buy season tickets on the buses (6Lm in Oct 2005) and a map listing bus routes for the cheapest travel around. Beware however that bus timetables only list times of departure from the route terminii, so make a note of when they pass your stop for future reference!

Melliah village is on a hill overlooking the bay. There's a lovely church that dominates the bay. Village has plenty of bars and restaurants. You would get to the village by car, bus or taxi. But if very very fit could walk it...

The resort on the whole was good, everthing there from a number of restaurants to water sports. you could walk a long way out in the sea before it got too deep safe for the kids, very warm as well.
The best restaurants we found were the punta prema just a short walk from the apartment. There are a lot of restaurants in mellieha village a short bus trip up a very big hill.
Would recommend getting the bus passes a good way to see the island they vary in price depending on how many days you would like.
Best value to comino was with the English rose cruises lm3.75 per adult half price under 12 they were just as good as the captin morgan and a fraction of the price.
When going to gozo barter a price deal with the taxi driver for a tour we managed a 5 hour tour of the islands main sights for lm25.
