Sliema is very tired and shabby. BUT I like that. The pavements and roads are a mess as are most roads in Malta. But there is a nice prom and it is lovely in an evening, after eating a good meal,to stroll along the prom and people watch.I hope Malta does not become too commercialised as it will spoil its old world charm

With over 10000 English permanently resident on the Island, you do notice a very English feel to Malta. All locals speak English, they even drive on the left.
Other than this I do not to dispose from their own very rich culture, a visit to the tiny Island of Gozo is a must for sightseers.
Valetta also so rich in culture and history, avoid the horse carriages they will hassle you but it can be expensive about 15ml about £20.
Buses are unique but cheap no more than 25c to travel from North to South of Island about 50p.
Very nice food warm welcome from everybody fully enjoyable stay.

Resort is clean, central to travel and the swimming is nearby in clean water.

There is a very tiny beach opposite the plaza which is good. Rest os Sliema is a rocky area but is suitable for sunbathing. Resort is very cosmopolitan with good bus services to other resorts.

Sliema is not the place to stay if you want a beach side holiday. It is an ideal point to base yourself if you do not want the bustle of an out and out summer beach resort and want to see other parts of the Island. It has excellent transport links to other parts Malta(Buses, boats and taxi's are widely available). Shopping whilst good is a little expensive when compared to Valletta.

Sliema was a very clean resort, with beautiful walks aound the shore.
I never saw one scrap of litter the whole time we were there. Entertainment was better than average, although beaches were poor - not because they were untidy - more because they were virtually non existent!
Very small sandy areas usually populated with kids. But then we didn't mind, as we weren't beach lovers anyway.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, and would come back without hesitation.

Sliema was great; safe, pleasant, really good shops including designer wear, and nice pavement cafes. Boat trips to everywhere a couple of hundred yards from the hotel. Didn't find a beach there-was there one?
