Whether young or old there really is something for everyone in Cancun. As a couple of young at heart 40-somethings we could relax at the hotel or take in the show at Coco Bongo (still spectacular). we were treated like family at Congo Bar, which became our "local". A tip for you - if you want to take advantage of some spectacular excursions, go to www.britsincancun.com. A Brit expat called Al Mason will sort out your trips at a much cheaper price than the reps and they are excellent. Chichen Itza, Jungle Tour (speedboats), diving and deep-sea fishing etc were all cheaper through Al, who also arranged for us to renew our Wedding Vows for a fraction of the cost. In short Cancun is the best place we've ever been and we will be going back!

Cancun was very mixed in it's appearance, next to plush marble floored shopping malls were run down crumbling buildings. It's very Americanised in that there is a Hard Rock Cafe, Hooters, Charlies, Bubba Gumps. There is a few nice Mexican restaurants however to sample the local cuisine.
The nightlife is good, there is quite a few clubs, however a lot of the bars also charge a cover charge of say $15 which includes an open bar, so you feel you're a bit tied to stay in that bar, whereas we would have prefered to have a drink in a few different bars. I guess when a resort is full of AI hotels then little bars can't really stay afloat like they would in some Med resorts.
I would recommend Coco Bongos for a night, it was an unforgettable experience, and the drinks tasted much stronger than at the hotel! We also did a trip to Hooters, just to say we'd been really - didn't eat but the food we saw coming out looked nice.
I would recommend Cancun as a holiday destination to anyone!

Our first stay in Cancun itself and a nice experience, it's modern, clean and although not cheap by UK standards now , still good to shop in, we have visited many times for days but not nights, the clubs are heaving with mainly Americans who get very drunk but no more than the English in Spain etc. A visit to the Hard rock cafe is always a treat and the planet hollywood and senor frogs restaurants good too.

The resort itself is very clean and safe.there is plenty too do in the resort if you want to do things.i found that there is nothing for kids to do it it orientated for adults.the beach was cleaned every morning and throughout the day when needed.we would definately visit this resort again.

All of the bars and clubs are located together so you can get a bus from the hotel zone for about 40p to the shops, clubs, downtown. The clubs and bars are always busy and noisy. Most places do a cover charge deal so you pay say 30 dollars but you can drink free all night. You can go in and just pay as you go if you dont want to stay in one place all night. All clubs have an entry fee. Shops are mainly tourist things and I found the clothes to be cheaper in the UK. Most hotels on the beach clean them of seaweed each day. There is lots to do and I found Cancun to be fun but if you want to just lay on the beach you can.
Of course the best thing about Cancun is even in winter the sun shines and it is a safe destination.

The hotel zone is a short bus ride away. Outside the hotel there are buses every 5 minutes to take you down town to the party zone. 6 pesos is all it costs!!!!!!

To be totally honest we did not spend much time in Cancun, as the Moon Palace is about 15km from Cancun and is pretty self contained. We did a shopping trip into Cancun on the free transport organised by the hotel. We went to a shopping mall, but it was very exclusive and virtually deserted. We spoke to people who went to the flea market and that sounded better. We also went on one of the First Choice trips, called Dolphin Discovery. A bit expensive at 199 dollars each, but was worth every penny. You swim with the dolphins, get the foot push, dorsal tow and huggs and kisses from your dolphins. Then you go to Garrafon for snorkelling on the reef, like swimming in an aquarium. Also there is a zip wire, not for the faint hearted. All food and drinks are included and your transport in a cataramran. A truly memorable day out and if you only do one trip, do this one. We drove around Cancun and it looked very cosmopolitan, big hotels and a section where the fishing boats were based, steak and lobster restaurants all along the seafront. For the kids there were a few McDonalds and a KFC, but these were very discrete and not in your face. Go and try it for yourself and experience the Mexican hospitality for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

My 2nd visit to Cancun. We visited Coco Bongos this time, which was good, but it is only a show and not a nightclub as we were told. If you go, try and get there really early (better to get tickets on the door - Not through your rep), and if you pay the waiters €20 then they will get you a table at the side so you can watch the show without getting trodden on.
There are loads of excursions - we went on the Pirate ship for my bday and I must admit it is the best and most memorable bday I will ever have. The show to the lobster dinner is fantastic. We also went on the Jungle Tour which again was brill.
When going to the shopping malls be prepared to barter if you want to get things cheaper. They will normally drop 50% in price at least. Also, go to Bubba Gumps if you like shrimp. This meal cost £40 for 2 people including drinks so value for money and the shrimp was the best ever.
