The teeny tiny room (210) on the 2nd. floor at the Baltum made it all the more fun!
We stayed from the 20th. to 27th. September '07 and a fantastic time was had by us both. The revellers didn't bother us at all, in fact once the balcony door was closed it was nice to faintly hear people in Bar Street enjoying themselves, we are in our 50's and coped pretty well!
There were market stalls directly under the balconies selling handbags, sweeties, nuts, trinkets etc. It became quite a novelty just to sit on our lovely little balcony watching life going on around us. We never used the bar as it was closed most of the time, but if course Albufeira is full of bars anyway!
I loved staying at the Baltum and would return tomorrow. The weather was beautiful.
Just another little plus.. There is a label which you can hang on the outside door knob, asking for your room to be cleaned, or not, whichever you choose. This can be very handy if you overdid it on the Sangria the night before, and need that extra hour in bed!!

I stayed in the Baltum from 2nd-9th July 2007. It is a small but very clean hotel.
I only had breakfast once, which was the usual bread cobs with ham, cheese, jam, tea, coffee and orange juice etc, which was ok. Didn't have evening meals so I cannot comment on the food they serve, hence the 3 stars for my one breakfast, which I'm sure is much the same in lots of hotels there.
The location is excellent, being in the heart of the Old Town. You can hear noise from the pubs and people passing by but it isn't that bad at all. Didn't bother me anyway. The room was air conditioned too which proved very useful. The rooms are very small but all you require considering we only slept there, spending most of our time being on the beach etc. But it's only fair to point this out.
All of the staff were pleasant, polite and helpful and spoke enough English to get by. Nice people.
No entertainment as far as I was aware in the hotel.
I would go there again if only for the superb location. Not that I'm personally bothered, but there are no steps to climb at this location, whereas on previous visits we had countless journeys up and down stairs to reach our apartment.
