As we drove up to the apartments we thought our worst nightmare of a first holiday abroad had come true, it looked shabby. Once we were inside however it improved drastically.
We had a one bedroom apartment and although not totally modern it was ideal. We had been warned renovations were going on but to be honest we only were troubled the once when the workmen came in to reseal the balcony doors with a minimum of noise and fuss.
Lower floor pool facing excellent, exactly what we asked for on booking.
Staff friendly and helpful had to ask for new bedding once due to youngster but not a problem within 10 mins bedding delivered.
Outdoor pool freezing, no kids club on so indoor pool was a godsend. Kids loved it always had it to ourselves although it was closed last 4 days of our hol due to Easter holidays starting and outdoor to be used only.
Staff helpful at all times although in house entertainment left a lot to be desired.
Close to everything though, lovely beach 10 mins walk away as was the strip. Plenty to do. Would recommend the jeep safari had a wonderful day up the mountains.
Zoomarine is superb and Algarve zoo is also worth a visit.
All in all price reflected what we got but at the end of the day we would pay more to go back again to same apartments
ps Eat out very cheap as cooking facilities are very basic.

When we arrived at the Santa Eulalia we thought it looked a bit cheap, and there was a bit of graffiti on the wall opposite which didn't inspire us. The rooms were not ready for check in so we had to dump our bags and go for lunch. The room still wasn't ready when we got back, but after a glass of wine they gave us our key.
The corridor to the room was dark and dingy and a bit off putting. I was thinking "oh my god what kind of place is this?", but when we got into the room we were pleasantly surprised. The one bedroomed apartment was a really good size and really clean. The furnishings were a bit shabby but did the job. Be warned, the kitchen facilities are very very basic, there was no electric kettle, toaster, microwave or grill or oven and the utensils were a bit sparse. All there was were two rings. We didn't care that much as I have never cooked a meal on holiday anyway, but if you go self catering it would be nice to have the option.
The bar area in the hotel was nice enough but there was nobody else in there so we felt like billy no mates. Drinks are not that cheap either but the barmen were nice and friendly. The so called entertainment was bobbins!! A dodgy parrot show that the kids loved and a large screen for the footy.
The outside pool was freezing and the inside one was full of scally kids running riot so we didn't take our five and one year old in there.
The hotel was ok for a base in which to travel, but it is miles away from the centre of Albufiera, and although we enjoyed our holiday we wouldn't choose this particular hotel again. It was alright for a cheap deal though.

Although we have rated this hotel quite poorly, we would go back if we got the same kind of deal (ie price it was really cheap).
We had two one bedroom apartments which were really quite a good size, but they definately needed decoration. We managed to cook for the five of us on quite a few times without too much difficulty in the small kitchen.
Entertainment: Was rubbish, the Karaoke was a joke, but to be honest we didn't stay in that much as the bar lacked any atmosphere, it was OK for a drink before you headed off somewhere else. There is also so much to do round about this area with plenty of bars and restaurants
Staff : They were OK, we didn't have much dealings with them. However, we did hire a car from the reception desk and this went very smoothly. Although, be careful we later found out this was very expensive as it was from Avis there are lots of cheaper ways to hire cars in the area.
Outdoor Pool : Was clean but freezing, so we didn't venture in.
Indoor Pool: Was far to small.

We visited this hotel last year and to be quite honest, I found that the amenities actually held within the hotel itself were extremely limited, there was virtually no entertainment(apart from a karaoke which was held once a week)and directly facing our apartment was a building site, (incidently we were never informed of this by the tour operator before we went).
The Direct Holidays rep at this hotel was disinterested in any complaints which we had and I can honestly say I have absolutely no idea how this hotel has a three star rating.
Apart from the hotel, the area of Praia D'Oura was fantastic, the local people were very friendly and the Montechoro strip was definitely the place to be, something for everyone there!
In short I would definitely go back to the area but not to the hotel, the larger Club Praia D'Oura would have been a fantastic place to stay.

Despite a few irritations, I did have a pleasant holiday at Santa Eulalia Aparthotel.
I found the apartments of better than average size, basic, and clean. The snack bar only provides basic chips and toasties.
Located 15 mins walk downhill is an excellent beach. This would not suite anyone with walking difficulties.
A 15 min walk in the opposite direction you will find the bustle of Montechoro "Strip" with its many bars, bar discos and restaurants, some of which were excellent.
P.S. Don't bother trying Piri Piri ..... it's overrated!
Loads of varied restaurants to suite all pockets scattered throughout the resort. I recommend Paulo's (Itallian) and The Cockerel (British) for excellent food and plenty of it at reasonable prices.
Now for my two complaints:-
1)Despite the presence of cleaners every day, the public toilets in the main reception area of the apartments constantly smelled ... disgusting!!
2)Unfortunately, the residents, mainly British and Irish indulge in booking sunbeds from 2am.
The holiday rep warned us at the welcome meeting that the hotel staff would remove these towels but this did not happen to my knowledge. However, a small resistance force seemed to enjoy disposing of towels in the early hours, up palm trees and into the pool. However, this didn't seem to deter the selfish idiots who appeared to like climbing trees and having wet towels. I witnessed some sunbeds with towels on lying till midday before being claimed, and others lying all afternoon empty while the users went shopping etc. If only people used the beds when they actually wanted them, there would be plenty to go round. The hotel must do something to stop this practice!!!
Finally, be prepared to fight of timeshare touts who are everywhere with scratchcards promising gifts of cash, camcorders and luxury holidays.
Overall, I would consider going back.
Happy holiday!!!
