We were half board which meant continental breakfast in mornings with toast, cereal, cheese, ham, boiled eggs and croissants. Dinner consisted of very limited choice of small selection of salads, soup, one meat and one fish main course and one dessert. In saying that food was piping hot and delicious.
Could not fault cleanliness of apt or hotel as maids came every day.
Hotel is based in two sections with a main road between with linking bridge - bit of a nuisance and quite slippy to walk over in rain. It is a straight 10 min walk to town which I have to say is very quiet.(Black stove bar very good for entertainment - Maria's bar v good for food).
Taxi to hotel from town centre - 4 euros, to Prias da Rocha 5 Euros and Portimao 5 Euros - worth the taxi to see the area. Shopping very mixed in Portimao but some excellent cheap shoe shops!!
I would return to this hotel aqain and stay half board purely for the quality of food however would recommend packing thermals if travelling in the winter.
The hotel is being refurbished with airconditioning and tv's etc and repainted between Dec and Feb 06 which can only be a good thing!!
PS it you are arranging your own transfer to airport Best Days in main street offered transfer for 40Euros and you can easily get public transport from main bus stop in town to all markts etc without paying crazy prices with hotel rep. Day into Portimao with rep 15Euros each - in taxi 10 Euros in total

The maid service was appauling it was dirtier when she left after apparently cleaning it. We did not get our towels changed once in our 7 days we were there.
The food in complex was ok pretty basic but edible. The location was quite good about a 10 min walk in to town. Hotel staff were pleasent enough Phillip in the bar was always cheery.
Entertainment rather poor, Andy tried his best with kareoke nights bless him. What was a godsend for us was kids club,my daughter loved it, Katie and Rachel worked really hard even though it was the last week in club they did everything to please the kids.
We will not be visiting this hotel again.

We were given our room straight away and were even offered a lift to our room by the reception staff in the hotel mini bus. When we entered the room we were really pleased with the size of the apartment and the cleanliness.
We were staying in a two bedroom apartment with four of us in and a one bedroom apartment with the two others in.
Both apartments were very spacious and the only difference was the extra bedroom. Both apartments balconys overlooked the pool on one side and the road on the other. There were plenty of bedding, kitchenware and towels available.
There was plenty of furniture also, the only downfall being the beds were a little bit hard and very noisy! The pool area was clean and tidy and although the water was slightly cold it didn't stop any of us going in.
There were plenty of sun beds for this time of year but I imagine there may be a shortage in the Summer months.
Having said that there are grassy areas around the pool area which can also be used for sun bathing.

Poolside resteraunt good value for money during the day. We only ate once in the complex resteraunt, preferring to go down town, but could only praise the quality and value for money for the night we did eat there. The bar staff are the tops; friendly and efficient.
There were plenty of children and teenagers round the pool which was wonderful for our boys and they had a ball. Kids club wonderfully run and our young men made loads of friends. Evening entertainment for the adults though was harmless (bordering on boring!) and needs some serious thought and rejeuvenating.
There is a resident rooster next door, but he was mannerly enough and only managed to wake us once!
The beds, while comfortable, were terribly squeaky!!! and just turning over was enough to wake the dead! Not a place for honeymooners!!!!!
For our baby there was a sand area - well kitted out with wendy house, slides, climbing frame and buckets and spades. Beware though, unless something has been done the gap at the side of the gate is big enough for our 10yr old to get out through! and babies move faster than you'd like when it suits. Also at the side of the pool the stairway is very steep so beware of wet steps etc. The pool was always spotless and during the day the competitions organised were a great laugh!

The apartment had a large bedroom and a very large living/dinig room with a pull out sofa bed. There is plenty of storage space in the apartment and on one of the balconies there is a storage area beneath the stairs to store inflatables.
All I would say about the apartments is they need a bit updating.
The pool area is very busy on the reception side, so I would suggest that you got to the other pool which has a grassy area and is much nicer. However, be warned the pools were ffffreezing!!!
The daytime menu was fabulous and very good value but we only ate in the hotel restaurant once and weren't very impressed as the food was very basic.
There are loads of steps to the apartments, so if you have buggies or mobility problems, it could be a problem.
However, we managed with 2 buggies. One piece of advice is if you have buggies, you can access the other side of the resort by road, rather than trying to struggle across the road bridge, which has loads of steps.
The staff are friendly and the faciliites are good. There are 2 swimming pools, tennis courts, a small entertainment area for the kids and a playground for toddlers which has little tikes play items, however, the area gets little shade.

When we arrived the staff were very helpful and offered to give us a lift in their mini bus to the other side of the complex (which is split in two by a main road). When we found out which block we were in, we where greeted by what seemed to be a never ending flight of steps, we were on the 4th (top) floor.
The rooms where very spacious and clean with a large living room, good sized kitchen (with cooker, fridge, microwave, sink etc.) a large double bed room and 3 yes 3 balconies from which you could see the sea and the pool.
The day time food was good with a large selection of English and local foods but being half board the evening menu was very limited with only a choice of 2 main courses, so we ended up picking between going it Alvor (10 mins walk) and staying. We ended up going into Alvor for food about 3 times during our 7 night stay. There are also 2 supermarkets on site but both could do with a little more choice.
The resort did put on some entertainment from about 8pm onwards in the resorts bar, things like bingo, quiz's, live singer ect. with the main prize being a bottle of wine. But the best entertainment we had was with the bar staff whom we got on with very well.
All in all the Hotel/Apartments where of an ok standard but the very friendly staff, which spoke very good English made it a very enjoyable place to stay.
This is not the place to go if you have difficulty with stairs.

The hotel is very clean and the food served in the restaurant is very good value for money. They have a good selection and cater for everybody's tastes.
Although the apartments are situated on the outskirts of alvor it is a short 10 min walk down into town.
We were there at the start of the summer season there was still entertainment on every night and we are sure that it will go from good and keep getting better, maybe some daytime entertainment would help.
All in all we were there for 2 weeks and have plans to make a return visit to alvor and hopefully Club Alvorferais will be our base again.

A little noise from the "farm" but more from the room above! Ladies please remove high heel shoes as they make a real loud noise on the floor.
Not a place to take children in the winter as it is more for the oldies like us!
Would not visit again because we want to see other places and not because it was a bad place.

We stayed at the Reception block which was away from the farm. We could still hear the Rooster but thankfully it didn't wake us up at night.
There was no childrens entertainment when we went although there was something on every night at the bar; bingo, karaoke, quiz night.
We really liked these apartments and would like to return in the summer.
