Location
apartments a little walk from alvor about 15mins. a well kept supermarket on site, money changing facilties, clean swimming pools.
snack bar serves its purpose with games and pool table nothing to shout about.
on the down side the only bad thing that i would say is to request a quiet room as can be quite noisy if suituated by the stairs.
kids club well run and reps excellent.
i was worried about the bridge over the main road and the saftey of children, but this was fine and would not put me off.

Thankfully, I never ate at any of the cafes or restaurants on site, and after reading some reports, I don't think I ever will!.
I was a little disapointed to find that we had been placed by barking dogs and cockerels especially as we had asked for a quiet room, but nevertheless would stay there again.

The down side of these apartments was the bridge over a main road which linked two complex's together, this did cause trouble when arriving and departing, shifting heavy luggage across to the otherside.
The restaurant was very good and the food reasonably priced, although the staff here were not too friendly. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The kids reps were well fantastic, they made our son's holiday, absolutley dedicated.
The walk into Alvor was quite pleasant there were a selection of restaurants, bars and shops, although again, quite a few had closed as it was coming to the end of the season.
I enjoyed the few days at this complex but wouldn't go again.

The hotel is quite large in 3 storey blocks seperated by the local road (really a motorway, extremely busy), we were located on the older side of the complex, but to get to the bar where the entertainment was you either had to neogiate a bridge with very steep steps or the very busy road. Not buggy friendly either one!!
The apartments are very basic but large if you have kids, a must to have some space. However the reception was across the road from our apartment and the swimming pool.
Never ending stream of buses and taxis all day and night at reception, impossible to sleep. As for the swimming pool , in 25 years of holidays I have never had to queue at 8am in the morning to get a sunbed at the pool - 5 minutes later and forget about it. MADNESS!!!!
Overall a very disappointing complex, which did not live up to its family friendly description. But credit to the Airtours kids club reps - they really made an effort and had lots of activities (even if most were at an additional cost).
Pool area was very cramped and congested, worst to come was the pig farm directly behind the pool area and the smell in the evening - undescribable.
Airtours hold your head in shame for this one.

It was a 15 minute stroll into the town of alvor which is a beautiful place. would definately go back but choose another hotel/apartment only because of there being no entertainment and night.
Our daughter loved the kids club they even provided a evening club twice a week a pyjama party.

Very, very quiet! The weather was great initially for late september, however it rained for two days and there is not a deal to do at all on resort. The apartments are massive but very very dated and not the most clean- forget room service you're on your own here, we stayed for two weeks and got the sheets changed, that was all.
The staff were great and all spoke fluent english.
My main concern was lack of TV/Radio. I know some of you go away to get away from this but if its pouring with rain its not great to walk all the way to the other side of the resort just to sit in a old school cafe style surrounding with background noise.
I would go to Alvor again but not this hotel.

The resort area on the way to the beach is a building site.
The most important thing to note is that I highly recommend you do not eat at the main restaurant by the pool. We both had what looked like a number of small maggots in our dinner! You have been warned.
They had the biggest apartment I have ever stayed in. However, it's very noisy (stray dogs barking, cockerels all day & early in the morning) and bit of a slog back from the beach.
Very limited evening entertainment and fair walk into the main town of Alvor to find a good place to eat.
,The beach is a fair walk too through land under development.
It's all just my opinion - I must say many people love it. personally I would never go back.

I was on the other side of that busy road but I took ear plugs and slept very well. Michael's bar in town was very friendly and welcoming and, as I was there on my own, Michael introduced me to ex-pats staying out there and I was invited to a barbeque and looked after. He and the staff did a hilarious karaoke to get the evening going and then it was over to us!
I booked it as a last minute bargain so I didn't expect much but I was really, really pleased with the apartment and town and have just booked to go back in a month's time. It was a magical and memorable holiday for me.
Yvonne is right about that bridge which I had to cross to get to the shops. Wear flat shoes and don't go over it when you're tipsy!!
