Location
A little out of the way but easy to get taxis which are cheap and no sooner have you asked reception to get you one and you are out of the door a taxi is waiting. Being out of the way means no risk of gangs of teenagers making a noise at night outside so excellent for families.
Do the jeep safari - I am a real coward and didn't want to go but we had Stefan in the open top jeep and we didn't stop laughing and screaming all day - he is just brill - my 10 year old just loved it and she is a girly girl so don't be worried and go for it - the best day of our holiday probably.
Zoomarine bit dated (but it was our 3rd time) but we swam with the Dolphins this time which was just brilliant - better than Discovery Cove in Florida in terms of the time you get with them.
Take some time to venture out into the real Algarve - even if you are a sun worshipper like me it is nice to get away and see the wonderfully simple way the people live and you can understand why they live so long and are so happy - we could learn a lot with our fast paced, materialistic way of life - the Portugese have got it just right, slow, easy, relaxed, eating healthily, enjoying the warmth - lovely!!
I love Portugal!

The room was really well equipped and clean, as was the rest of the complex.
We went self catering and didn't cook a single meal! The hotel restaurant was ok, if a bit expensive for what was on offer. The mini market catered for everything and was reasonable.
Although the hotel was a bit off the beaten track, we didn't find this a problem and think it was probably a bonus as there was no all night noise to contend with. Taxis were cheap and plentiful.
The staff were great, particularly Bino and Chris (all round entertainers!). There were activities on offer day and night and the hotel bar had a family friendly atmosphere.

The appartment was very clean with a great balcony area looking over the swimming pool. I shall warn you though, if you dont like freezing cold swimming pools dont even stick your feet in the water!!!!
If you have got kids then Chris and Bino will entertain them with activities throughout the day. They even make the adults join in.
The location isnt great but a cab over there only costs around 4 euros normally. If you have one excursion then make sure its the jeep safari. It costs a lot of money but believe me its worth it. The only rather bad thing though about the safari is that you didnt get long enough to look around the small mountain village.
If you dont like strong stuff then dont try the firewater. OUCH! Although your rep will probably tell you this, the staff at the restaurant will talk to you and sneekily put bread and sardine pate on your table. What they dont tell you is that you have to pay 10 euros for it!
Fernando was very helpful and if you have any questions then he is the man to ask, he will explain everything though at the welcoming meeting on the first morning of your holiday.
I really enjoyed this holiday and miss it like crazy. My family are booking for next year as well. A ten out of ten resort! If you are thinking just the adults are saying that they really enjoy it, I'm 13 years old!

Hotel was always clean & tidy, reception staff were really friendly, entertainment staff (Chris & Bino) were great, always trying to get you to join in even if you didn't want to.
There wasn't anything to do in Praia da Vau, but Alvor & Praia da Rosha were nearby, taxi only 6 euro, or car hire is fairly cheap.
We booked excursions at the hotel reception at a fairly good price, go on the jeep safari, great day out, try to get on the jeep that Victor is driving he's crazy, just hold tight!!!!

Well appointed, spacious and immaculately clean apts... Even the TV had programmes you could watch, BBC 1, 2, and 4, not just the usual eurosport, news and foreign.
The on site facilities are excellent, the restaurant is amazingly good and cheap, we were s/c but visited most nights, although that was mainly because it is a fair walk to the others in the neighbourhood.
The only problem with vitors is the distance from other places, it is a little isolated and you would be better off with a car (if you can stand the mad Portuguese drivers) because the walk to the nearest places of entertainment is boring and hilly. Unless you like golf, most of the area is taken up with golf courses and golf 'resorts'.
Neither does vitors have air con which might be a prob in the summer, although we were there in Feb. and it was quite cool but gloriously sunny all week. We had 2 huge balconies overlooking the pool and they were suntraps out of the breeze.
First choice do a good standard of bargain trip if you persevere and book as late as you can, their website is quite easy to use and amazing deals pop up if you are not too fussy where you want to go. We paid a total of

The rooms are immaculate, roomy and very adequate.
The food is really nice and a nice alternative to going into town. Although further from a town than I usually opt for, the pleasant walk of about 30 mins to either Alvor or Roche forms part of a pleasant evening, and a taxi back at

The apartment was clean, spacious and had all of the necessary facilities that we would need. Whilst we didn't spend too much time at the complex during the day (there was too much to see and do!), it was a fab place! The in - house entertainment team Nuno, Phil, Bino and Cris were all spot on and really friendly people. Reception staff were also great and very smiley people. Carlos and Pedro were great barmen, and were always really funny.
Vitor's is set back from the main resort of Praia Do Rocha (about 30 mins walk / 6 euros taxi) and the same disctance from Alvor, a delightful fishing town with plenty of traditional Portugese Cuisine on offer. Some great excursions are available, and we recommend the 4x4 tour of the Monchique montains.
Overall, great hotel, great people and we can't wait to go back.
My girlfriend and I will certainly be returning.

The complex was constantly being cleaned but this did not get in your way at all. Bino and Cris the entertainers were brilliant at keeping the adults amused day and night as well as the children and would not pass you without having a word or two. Having two grown up daughters with us (22 & 17) it was a pleasure to see them smiling all the time and feeling completely relaxed with the surroundings.
The location was a bit of a distance away from the beaches and nearest fishing village but with only time on your hands this did not cause any problems. Taxis were available outside the complex at all times and the fare to Alvor, Praia De RochaVau and Portamao a standard

The restaurant was amazing, Maria and Paulino were excellent waiteresses and the rest of the gang, snack bars, bar, club, smiley faces all the time. Receptionist spoke good English. Rooms were fantastic. I cannot fault this place everybody involved at Vitors Plaza am sure are very proud of themselves. I would definately go there again and again.
This is what a good holiday is all about, it's great for the kids, although I don't have any. This place is a BUZZ. Loved every minute of it highly recommended.
It was a pleasure - unfortunately I had to come home...
