Location
We enjoyed our visit so decided to go again as a couple. We enjoyed our time again but found things very quiet the middle of September. The hotel was mainly full of over 60's and there was more life in the cemetery than there was round the pool most days.
The food was not a patch on what it was last year for some reason.Again even with hotel half full it was difficult to find an table as there are not enough staff to clear the tables when others had finished.
The entertainment in the day was none existant and at night was the usual stuff you find in this sort of hotel, not that we used it much.
Sorry to sound negative perhaps its because this was our 4th visit to Es Cana in 5 years and the novelty has now worn off and also we are used to peak season holidays.

The hotel generaly is of a very good standard, the rooms are comfortable with tv a bonus.
The location is fine being just a stroll to the beach and all ammenities. The day before we arrived a storm had washed up an emmence amount of seaweed onto the beach which smelled quite a bit, this took a few days to clear so we took refuge around the pool area which proved a real bonus as our 3 yr old loved it, pool, play area, drinks, ice cream, rosa the barmaid is a one woman show.
The hotel food was very good, plenty of choice, soups, salads, meats, fish the onlt critisism was not much veg on offer.
All in all a very good hotel.

I cannot compliment the hotel staff enough they are always eager to please and nothing is too much trouble for them. The cleanliness of the rooms are second to none and they are cleaned every day apart from a Thursday.
The food is generally good but can be a bit repetative, but nevertheless is always hot and well presented.
The location is excellent for access to the resort of Es Cana and if you want to venture further the bus stop is close by.
The only disappointing aspect of the holiday was the entertainment or lack of it! In previous years the reps have organsied the entertainment and there was something for everyone during the day and night. However, the hotel now employs their own entertainers who try hard but do not do enough to encourage people to take part. After speaking to the Rep Jon he confirmed that JMC are taking over the entertainment again next year but this may be too little to late for regular customers as a lot have already said they will not visit again.
Overall we had a fantastic time but had to make entertainment ourselves.

The staff were very good.
The rooms were cleaned every day except Thursdays, could do with a hairdryer in the rooms. Safe to hire 2 euro a day, fridge to hire 3 euro a day. We had connecting rooms out the front of the hotel but we did not have a good view and the balcony had no sun until about 7pm (so ask for a pool view).
Food was very good lots of choice, always soup for starter, salad, 4 main meals(curry, kababs, chicken casarol, fish, burgers, lasagne, chips, rice, kids choice, buffet so you can go up for more. Chef carved meat from the bone 1 night in the week we were there. You do have to pay for drinks at evening meal which are 1.70euro for a bottle of water. Breakfast you had every choice you could think of cakes, bread, toast, cheese, ham, cooked breakfast, cereal, yogarts, fruit.
The pool was a ok size but I would imagine it would get busy in peak weeks. Plenty of sun beds could still get a bed around pool at 9.30am. 1 min walk to centre and beach.
Chidrens club ok but only 8 to 1 adult so when the 8 spaces have gone you can't get in.
The only downfall with this hotel was the entertainment it was not great (ok for kids) parrot shows, singer bingo, quiz,(drag queen was the best) kids disco. Games room was ok but it was cheaper to play the games on the computer, 1 euro for 10 mins which kept my 11 happy.
Would not go back to this hotel only because we do not go to the same place twice. Over all a good 3* hotel.

Found the hotel very nice. Good location, about a minute walk to the beach.
We asked for a top floor room (floor 5) with seaviews which we did get, and it had a view of the pool, did get sun from mid morning to late afternoon/evening.
The pool area is good, lots of sunbeds and well spaced out, not on top of each other. Did not see the "reserve sunbeds with towels at dawn" There are sunbed areas a little away from the pool if you want a little peace. We hired a fridge which was really handy.
We stayed b & b and there was a good variety of food at breakfast, including english breakfast, fruit, continental, self serve.
The room was clean, but could have had a bit more storage space for clothing, we struggled as there was three of us. Was surprised there wasn't a bidet in the bathroom, we usually get one when we have stayed in a Spanish hotel, also as mentioned in a previous review a hairdryer would have been useful. Air conditioning wasn't working when we got there but next morning we reported it and it was sorted out within a hour. TV channels a bit limited, Sky News and CNN for British guests.
Reception staff were very helpful. We arrived late at night and they were ready for us, and were quick, and we were in our room withing 5 minutes of arriving. Card key for the door and electricity. One payphone in reception.
Regarding the entertainment, we did not go see the shows but we could hear some from our balcony in the middle of the top floor when they were on the outside stage. The main entertainment started about 10.pm which we thought was a bit late, especially if you wanted to settle down for the night, or if you had to get up early for your flight next morning and were kept awake by the noise.
There is a rule that guests should think of others when they were coming back late, but this wasn't adhered to, and did get the "ignorant" ones rolling in at all hours. Did annoys us a bit when children were still being allowed to run around the pool area at 12.45am screaming and shouting. Apart from that we found the hotel really good, ideal for families and couples, ideal for the beach and the resort.
Would stay there again, and will recommend it to others.

The hotel is fantastic after its total refurbishment in 2005
the hotel was very clean and the food also very good
the hotel is away from the main road but only 200 yards from the beach.
The whole staff were very friendly watch out for Rosa the drinks waitress with the swiveling hips very funny.the entertainment was ok kids disco followed by a show.
We would definately go back . Our son spent most of the time on one of many computers on a night chatting to all his mates back home, how sad is that.

Hotel is in a great position two minutes form beach and bars, very clean food this year was excellent much improved on the year before.
Entertainment this year was not as good because Thomas cook no longer do the evening entertainment the hotel employ there own staff, but Vanessa did try very hard but she needed someone else with her to help, maybe this will improve as the season goes own, but dont let that put you off as there is plenty of bars nearby that also allow children and most hotels welcome non residents as well to watch there entertainment.
Must mention Rosa the barmaid she is a star. Drinks in the hotel are very cheap and the Sangria a must!
Would recommend you try booking direct as the we paid half of what Thomas cook travellers paid for one week and we went for ten days.

The hotel is very clean.
The food we found to be reasonable but not as good as we,ve had elsewhere.
The entertainment was reasonable and as you would expect in this sort of hotel.
The main asset of the hotel is the enormous sun terrace, you could get a lounger at any time and there was none of the 8 o clock rush for a lounger.
We had our 15 year old daughter with us and had a great time after making lots of friends her own age. The hotel attracts families with all age groups.
All in all a great holiday in a good hotel.
