We are Thompson Gold regulars and have stayed at all three Thompson Gold hotels on the island of Ibiza. All three hotels have their plus and minus points. The main plus point for all Thomson Gold Hotels- no children under 16!
So what about the Hotel Ses Estaques? Firstly it is in a very good location. On one side of the hotel is its own rocky beach although it should be noted that there is a public right of way going through this area. It is here that all of the sunbeds are located.
There are more than enough for everyone but that still does not stop people from making sure that they have their own particular spot reserved by putting towels on the sunbed at eight o'clock in the morning!
At the front of the hotel there is a large grassy area with a reasonably sized pool plus two Jacuzzi style hot tubs. Also in this area is the outside bar which also serves snacks at lunchtime.
The rooms in the hotel are of a fairly standard size and are kept immaculately clean.
The same can also be said for the rest of the hotel -- everything is kept spick and span.
One thing however that you should be aware of is that unless you have a superior room (basically a standard room with a few extras such as bathrobes, flowers, fruit and wine on arrival and a free safety deposit box) there are no tea and coffee making facilities provided which for a three star hotel is pretty poor!
If you have a room at the front of the hotel you will overlook the pool area where as rooms at the rear of the hotel overlooks the entrance area and the tennis court.
Rooms at the rear are the quieter choice because the stage area is located near to the swimming pool. The outdoor stage is obviously only used during the high season.
So now then we move on to the restaurant. This is bright and airy but it could do with being rather larger. I think cosy perhaps best describes this room.
The food itself is, like all Thompson Gold hotels, served buffet style.
For breakfast there is an excellent choice of cereals, fruit, pastries, fruit juices, toast and marmalade etc plus a variety of tea and coffee. Absolutely first rate.
However, those wanting a cooked breakfast every day I think will find it rather repetitive.
For instance there are fried eggs, bacon, sausages, beans and this never varies. Yes you can have an omelette or a hard-boiled egg. But there is certain sameness and the hot foods are not of the best quality in our opinion.
Dinner is served from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m... Once again it is of the buffet style. Each evening there is a choice of soups followed by hors d'oeuvre then the main course followed by a choice of sweets and finally cheese and biscuits. There are two soups to choose from every evening and these are really delicious.
The hors d'oeuvres as well are plentiful with a lot of variety and very tasty. Perhaps this is just as well because the main courses in our opinion are nothing really special. The meats in particular, with one exception, are rather ordinary. The exception is the roast pork which is served from the carvery once a week and should not be missed. For those who like it there is always a choice of fish dishes.
The choice of sweets is rather mundane as well. The cheeses however are excellent and there is always a blue cheese plus Cheddar and Brie with some local Spanish cheeses on offer every evening.
If you like wine with your meal may I suggest that you avoid Spanish white and stick with the red wines but they do cost from around

All staff were friendly, attentive and helpful at all times and the Thomson team well exceded expectations.
Our room was clean, comfortable and well tended daily by the cheerful and attentive 'cleaners'.
A superb restaurant offering an ever improving buffet selection is a definite plus (look out for the Champagne at breakfast)
Comfortable and easily accessed bar and lounge areas made this particularly appealing and after a stroll to the Marina or Beach after Dinner it was a pleasure to return to settle down for some really good shows!
Andy is the dark horse here-a star in waiting. Thanks to Andy and all 'your' team you made our stay!
Our booking is already confirmed for 2008.

This was a brilliant holiday. The hotel was spotless, food wonderful, views from our balcony the best and staff were so obliging, happy and polite.
The Thomson reps were amazing. Full of life from morning until late night. Always had a smile for everyone and time for a chat. They could not be faulted!
Everyone staying talked to each other and many new friendships made.
There were plenty of sun beds, umbrellas, tables and things to do in the area.
This was the best holiday we have had and will definitely be back.
Ses Estaques deserves more than three stars and we will be back, very soon.

The variety of food was excellent and very fresh. Yummy desserts.
Cleanliness of the rooms was also very good.
The entertainment is more for the over fifty's, but was good in its content, not that we stayed to watch very often, too much people watching to do!!
The hotel is at the end of the marina in a very quite location but only five minutes walk into the main town.

All the food is piping hot with loads of choice, the puddings are to die for!
All the hotel complex is spotlessly clean, the pool area and the private beach are all spotless.
Loads of sunbeds and brollies there is no need to do the 7am towel dash here!
Rooms are cleaned everyday and fresh towels given. All rooms are air conditioned too, with a mini bar which is refilled every morning ( prices are ok too )
The only thing that we didnt stay for is the entertainment, as we are only in out late 20s we noticed that a lot of the other guests were older than us, so if your 50+ youll love it, but I wouldnt let that stop me from coming again, what we did see of the entertainment was geared for older than us.
It is brilliant to go to a hotel and not hear any children for a week pure bliss!
Like I said I would come back here again if just to sample the food again, and for the cleanliness and frienliness
this hotel should be a lot more than a 3 star
RECOMMENDED.

Public areas were always clean and tidy, pool lovely. Plenty of sunbeds, never had any trouble getting one any time of day.
Entertainment was o.k. not fabulous but, well entertaining!
Hotel situated in a very quiet position at the side of the marina. About 200 hundred yards to centre with all the shops and bars etc. A lovely place to stay.
