My husband,myself and our 16 year old son have just returned from a great holiday at the hotel Panoramic. We had a lovely week. Just a few points. The hotel did not have airconditioning in the rooms which was a bit uncomfortable at times as the temperature was in the 90's. The reception and dining room areas have though. It was the first time we went half board and we were pleasantly surprised. The breakfast is buffet style and excellent - loads of choice. The evening meal was also very good again loads of choice. The waiting staff were quite friendly. The reception staff were too but the bar staff were not.
We had a pool/sea view room and sitting out on the balcony was a delight. There was entertainment every evening by the pool which started with bingo which was good fun when you got into the spirit of it! Then there was entertainment each night which was average. Sitting out there near the pool under the stars was
lovely. If youre not fully inclusive then you cant use one of the bars after 8pm.
The entertainment finished at midnight so the music stopped but could be quite noisy until 1 am as the bar didnt close til then. Also there is very noisy drinks trolley which can make a racket up til 1.30 am.
The situation was nice, a nice little beach with shallow water just in front of the hotel - good for snorkelling.
The pool is nice - but you have to be up before 7 am if you want to secure a sunbed or chair in the shade!
The hotel shop is closed on a Sunday. There is only one other shop in the vicinity, round the cove past the `red rum` restaurant where you can get bottles of water etc. (The bottled water machine by the pool was empty quite a lot)
The lovely old town of Alcudia is a 5 minute taxi ride away. ( only 5 Euros) and the reception will phone for one if you ask them. The port is nice too (about another 5 mins from the town) with lots of pretty boats and restaurants. We took a taxi to the Inca market on the Thursday. Its true that there are loads of stalls (hundreds of them) but there are only 4 or 5 basic types of stalls hat/watch/sunglasses/jewllery/bags. Many selling exactly the same thing. The Alcudia market on Sundays and Tuesdays is smaller but much better.
A mixture of Germans,Spanish and mostly British were at the hotel.
It was on the whole a fantastic holiday - I would definately go again.

We visited the Panoramic hotel last June and had a wonderful 2 weeks.
The hotel room was always clean and fresh towels were always provided. They even cleaned up our stuff for us and respected our privacy if we put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door. One day we had a ridiculously long lie in until 3pm and still they changed our bedding and sheets for us.
The hotel food was always well presented and catered for our taste. It was always hot and someone was one hand to fill up the empty trays as people munched their way through their tea.
The location of the hotel wasn't great as it was quite an expensive taxi ride to the main Alcudia resort but as we were all inclusive we didn't really have any reason to leave the hotel and therefore were OK. If not however, you may struggle as the nearest shop, about 10 - 15 min walk away, stocked only necessities. If you do go into the main town make sure you don't get a mini bus taxi on the way back as it triples the price!
The hotel staff were always friendly and more than willing to help, and the entertainment team were exceptional, making you feel welcome throughout the day and always taking the time to talk to you. Although the activities in the day were mainly child orientated we were always more than welcome when we joined in and, at times, I think we had more fun than the kids!
The variety of shows was good but as we were there for 2 weeks we saw the similar shows 2 weeks running! However they were good so I wouldn't say that was the major down point.
My favourite part of our stay was the day we went home on which the staff were exceptional. They stored our suitcases away for us, gave us a late check out time, and even provided us with the essentials for a shower before we left, although you did have a queue to use it! But it's the thought that counts!
Just one thing if you are going here and venture onto the beach watch out for broken glass, and don't try and sit on the sister hotels sunbeds as you get kicked off by a rather rude Spanish man!
Apart for this a great holiday and hotel but would only go as all inclusive again not half board, great for all ages and suits all tastes.

Stayed at Panoramic Hotel; Sat 13th until 27th July 2002.
Good points;
V.good variety of food avalible.
Bus stop outside the hotel; no matter how old you are or how local you are going it's 1 Euro per person.
From the Old Town of Alcudia you can get on an air conditioned bus to Palma for around 7 Euros...a taxi was quoted at around 56 Euros.
Taxi's good prices, and my family found that on a few occasions the taxi was cheaper than the bus.
British Newspapers avalible from Hotel reception.
Wide choice of activites to choose from; entertainers are brilliant, if you win your activity your recieve a certificate, and 5 certificates gains you a gold medal.
Bingo is hilarious; 1 Euro 50 a card. Fivety-Five. Eighty-Eight-O. The Entertainers should get a Pay rise as they are excellant.
Swimming pool, which is a good size.
Evening entertainment is excellant, and each evening the audience is also involved.
Local supermarket is 5-10 minutes away.
Bad points;
Distance; 20 minute walk into old Central Alcudia,
45 minute walk into Port Alcudia
Bottle bank straight outside hotel; used though out the night, and is v.noisy.
Airtours rep. is not bothered or concerned by anything; more about this further down.
Beach at the rear of the hotel is bascially mud and concrete.
Hotel staff are helpful.
Info;
When at the markets, (there is two in the Old Alcudia on Sundays and Tuesdays) always haggle/barter with the owners, my family was able to knock a few items down to half the original price given.
Dont ask the price of something on the markets unless you actually want to buy it, or you WILL end up buying it!
Inca Market (Thursdays) is great for bartering.
Watchout for:
Thiefs in the market places.
Thiefs in the hotel it's self; my Mum's bag was almost taken one morning while we were eating breakfast in the dining hall, while sat at a table. Once we had the realised the bag had gone the woman who had taken it dropped the bag and fled with another woman.
Be warned that a lady who arrived a few days before us had her bag taken 10 minutes after she had arrived at the hotel.
These people are not from any hotel, they are locals who can just walk into any hotel, look like tourists, eat food and walk out with some ones bag.
The 2 women are also part of a team with a Moroccan looking man and a 20 -ish year old man who waits outside the hotel in a car.
Once we had recovered the bag having told the receptionist, who immediatly informed the police, the airtours rep was not bothered didnt ask if we were ok, or anything, just telling us she had 'been informed' . Another lady had her shopping bags stolen on a Palma trip, the rep did nothing.
Even when we arrived at Palma airport there wasnt an Airtours rep insight to say where we had to go for our bus. Having found an Airtours Cruise guide (about 20 mintues later) who didnt have a clue where he should be, never mind us! It took reps from another British holiday firm to tell us (by now there was around 10 people who also didnt have a clue)where we had to be; door 3. Which was a 10 minute walk away from where we had collected our cases (no case trollys made it worse). Have finally found an Airtours rep it was an annoying discovery that 'our bus' was in the direction we had just come from...and furthur away.
Needless to say we were not amused.
Once at the bus, we ended up waiting around 45 minutes to wait for others to also find the bus.
AIRTOURS : SORT YOUR REPS OUT!!!!!
If you are going to the Panoramic I'd advise you to get one of the safes...it's the best thing possible to do.
