Hotel Cala Bona is exactly as described in the brochure overlooking a lovely harbour.
Our room was large with a seperate area for our daughter (Room 308 if you're booking)and was cleaned every day and towels changed when asked for.
Food was varied and fresh with several different choices every evening.
The pool was never overcrowded and sunbeds available (which could not be reserved and if not used for an hour towels could be moved) although the pool could be cleaned better.
Bingo every night and entertainment which was standard 2 star fare but very enjoyable.
Short walk to the more lively Cala Millor, not a young persons resort though.

It is now 30 years we have neen going to this Hotel. Things have changed, the harbour is bigger and the 'local' beach has sand 'no more'!!
Every year we think we will not go again but we book for the next year & even the year after!
The reception staff are wonderful and the 'Family' who own the Hotel are always very welcoming.
We have never been ones to recommend a Hotel but friends have come with us & have always booked again!
Cala Bona is so relaxing, & there are no problems with youngsters running riot etc!
That's why we always enjoy our three weeks away there every year!
Only drawback is the 'dreaded Euro' which has made our holiday more expensive, but it's worth it!
We always book direct with the Hotel, so we can choose our room for how many nights we want.
So many friends come back to CB at the same time every year so we have a great get together!

Another good week at the Cala Bona hotel. Most of the staff are the same, couple of new faces behind the bar, obviously being trained in the Cala Bona way, very friendly and efficient!!! Food was fine.

Entertainment every night, not always to our taste but the bar was packed every night so a lot of people did like it!!

One disappointment was that the bar Jemica along the road has closed. Most people used this bar as the last stop before bed for a coffee and brandy.

We will certainly return.

Nice Hotel. Rooms were a bit dated but really clean. Linen changed daily.
Paid extra for room upgrade to harbour view and was well worth it. Food was excellent and varied. Different entertainment every night.

This is our fifth visit to the Cala Bona Hotel and as usual found it most enjoyable, only one small blip this time on arrival told the hotel was over booked and we were put in a harbour facing room only to have to leave it after two and a half days, we were a bit put out as we had booked 9 weeks before our holiday.
We have found this hotel to be most pleasant in every way, staff are first class and the atmosphere brilliant.
I wouldn't hesitate in recomending this hotel to anyone and we look forward to returning for many years.

If you are single forget this hotel. I stayed for a week from 13th July for a week, nightmare. I had what can only be described as a cell, but overlooked.

My room constisted of two bed on of which was against the wardrobe, therefore you had to move it to open it. One fan, and one socket that the fan was fitted to. A round mirror which was the other end of the room. I guess they must only have bald guest as there was no hairdryer and as there was only one socket you couldn't have a hairdryer on and the fan, and good eyesight to see yourself the other end of the room.

No full length mirror. Once you opened the shutters as you would for light, god and his dog could see in.I had to get changed in the bathroom.

I asked to be moved, Management stuck there heels in, no chance, even though I offered to pay an upgrade. I asked for some net for the window for privacy, a simple no. They said there were no more rooms. A guy walked in off the street, viewed a room and said I'll take it once that had cleaned from the last guest, obviously wasn't a single room.

There was nothing in the least appealing about the room, I couldn't wait to go home.

The food was ok, entertainment was quite good providing your not above it, or back and above, which finished about 1pm, not that I was in a hurry to go back to my room.

They do have other rooms that were an improvement on mine, I could see these from my room, in fact I could see myself in the room across the road, unfortunately not well enough to see how I looked before I went out.

Also if your single they put you to the side of the restaurant like some kind of leper. Perhaps some may like to be left alone, personally I go expecting to meet people no segregated from them. (As from the film dirty dancing, no-one puts babe in the corner) except the Cala Bona.

Believe me the photo's you see of the rooms are certainly not the single

Tomson gives this a 3star, what a joke

My family ( the wife, 2year old jacob and the in laws ) and i have just returned from our holiday at Hotel Cala bona and i wanted to make sure everyone who wants to visit Cala Bona knows about this hotel.

Lots of good points such as the great staff, the cleanliness and the location. We had a family room which was a good size in the reception part of the building which had aircon which was ok whereas the people who give this a bad review have probably been accomadated at the front of the hotel - therefore if you go in summer make sure you get an aircon room.

The food was always varied and catered for everyone even the fussy people like myself with the breakfast being the favourite. Because we had 4 adults and Jake we didin't have to share so if you go in a pair you will have to eat with another couple.

The pool was clean and tidy with the baby pool great for jake who probably spent most of his time splashing around making lots of friends with other kids - the only critism was the towels on the sunbed scenerio .... although the guests were probably 99% British you had to get out early to lay your claim to a bed although the hotel management displayed signs advising removal of towels would be enforced if people took the mick.

The entertainment was good but they don't cater for children so we found a Thomson Superfamily holiday hotel behind the hotel towards the sunwin resort which was great so we had the best of both worlds

The resort of Cala Bona is great for young families who who want to be able to entertain the kids and have a relaxing drink overlooking the harbour once the kids have finally decided to go to sleep in the prams... you don't get any hassle with bar touts or any drunken idiots just a really nice , small resort with freindly people and a few classy bars and restaurants.

It says alot about the place when the people you meet round the pool have returned year on year, in some cases 10 years.

All in All a great part of Majorca, a great hotel and a fantastic resort.

Handy tips:
We booked our flights and rooms separately
Flights through Jet2 via Newcastle ( Sundays are quieter )

Hotel room through - www.greatlatedeals.co.uk
and probably saved alot of money - if your in need a transfers from airport use the Resort Hoppa.

Just booked to go back to Cala Bona at Easter this year. Just found this web site and thought this write up might be of use to some people.

I was in cala bona last year and would just like to comment on what a fantastic, safe and frienly place it is. Hotel was great, food good and staff very friendly.

Entertainment was varied some nights good some nights not so good. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we ventured out to a bar we had read about on the internet before we arrived, and were also recommened by other hotel guests and staff. It's called the Sanddancer bar and is one street back from the hotel next to the bank. Its run by a lovely geordie family who go out of their way to make sure you are happy and entertained.

The kids were kept happy in a safe area at the back which included a free cinema!!(fab) we could then sit back and enjoy the great entertainment by Faz(the loony!)The best reccomendation we can give is that we went back most nights, which is something we never do.

Just remember to take a jar of Lloyd Grosemans tomatoe and chilli sauce....you will understand when you get there. P.S remember to wave to the bin men!

All in all we would recommend this resort for couples and families. Something to do for all ages! Great!

This was our first visit to Hotel Cala Bona and after a very shaky start to our holiday being told at 3.30 in the morning that they had no reservation for us, we were eventually allocated a room at 1pm (none of this was the fault of the hotel may I add, but of Med Hotels who had messed things up)

Anyway, we were given a room situated in another block to the main part of the hotel and I was slightly disappointed that we didn't get a sea view (although it was never guaranteed that we would) but the room was fine and cleaned every day.

We were half board but would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, especially a couple of the waiters who were a good laugh.

I'm quite a fussy eater but have to say I enjoyed the whole experience of eating in the hotel as I could always find something I liked. They also have a nice little system whereby you can buy a bottle of wine and if you don't finish it, it is re-corked and you can finish it the next evening! We never had to share a table as there were three of us and I must admit I was glad about that. I saw a few couples seated with strangers who looked slightly uneasy - others got on well together.

I can't report on the entertainment as we never sat in the bar and watched any of it. It seemed to consist of Elvis/Lionel Ritchie impersonators but from the bits I heard, it sounded pretty good and passers by were skipping past singing along!!

The location is excellent and I would probably go back again.
