I have recently returned from my 3rd stay at the Cala Bona Hotel and AGAIN had a fantastic holiday. The hotel, although some parts dated, is exceptionaly clean and the staff extremely friendly.

Accomodation:
My Mother and I (me being 23) stayed for the second time in the Azul block of the hotel which is on the plus side is a later addition but situated a few minutes down the road from the main block.

Our room was spacious with a good sized bathroom with full size bath and shower attachment. The room itself comprised of 2 single beds and a sofa bed, large wardrobes, dressing table etc and plently of room.

Food:
I am quite a fussy eater when on holiday and generally don't eat meat unless in England or the States but always find something to eat at the cala Bona, even trying the meat on occasions which was cooked to perfection. Plenty of salad choice and vegetables, heaps of deserts and icecreams, fresh fruit etc.

Entertainment:
To be honest I can't comment on this as we never experienced it, generally went to bars in the resort as the entertainment on offer in the hotel seemed to be geared towards older generaions... although heard rave reviews about it the following mornings by the pool!

Location:
The hotel has an excellent location. It is situated right on the harbour which has been newly pedestrianised and improved, with plenty of rooms having either stunning sea views or as we did, lovely views of the mountains behind. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants only a minutes walk away if you want to venture away from the hotel.

Cala Bona is linked to the livelier resort of Cala Millor by a lovely prommenade, ideal for a stroll after dinner and a browse round the shops. Cala Millor is also home to a better beach than Cala Bona, but never went to this as the pool at the hotel is lovely.

Staff:
The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful, some of the women on reception are English which was helpful when I got really bad sunstroke and ended up having to go to the hosptal in Palma! They promptly called the Doctor out to our room and he arrived in less than 10 minutes. When I returned the next evening they were extremely helpful, offering for the Kitchen to cook me anything I requested which was lovely of them.

Will deffinately be returning to the Cala Bona Hotel
again, many of the guests are regulars and I can see myself going back there for many years to come.

This was our second holiday at this hotel, and we were hoping, that things would have improved, sadly this was not the case. That said, the hotel itself is lovely, very clean, maybe a bit dated in parts, but there is much room for improvement.

To start with the food is very poor, we were offered fried eggs with the breakfast, two or three times in a fortnight, the rest of the time we were offered scrambled eggs, not a good idea, on a buffet style servery, they just end up all congealed, and rubbery. Sausages were served up very occasionally, very nice they were too. The bacon, well what can one say, it was like tissue paper, and you had to have four slices (I would not insult rashers) to get a decent piece of meat, the rest is just fat. The cereals are acceptable, though not quite Kellogs, and the bread is fine, even when toasted. Evening meals? Well that is another matter, if you like lots of green beans, peas, the odd serving of carrots, mash that is runny, roast potatoes that have been fried, and creamed spinach, this is definitely the place for you. Don't get me wrong, what was served up was edible, it was always hot, contrary to what other people have reported, just not to our taste. The desserts, though very, very nice, and well presented, were the same every night, ok you also get lots of fresh fruit, including various varieties of melon, but sometimes you just get fed up of the same old stuff, and when do we Brits eat cold rice pudding? It was on every night!!

That said, the soups, were really good and wholesome, though I personally would have liked a gazpacho or two, though I suppose they have tried that in the past, only to be told it is cold, I suppose they can't win. The other thing I couldn't fault them on was the way they cooked the meat, everything from beef to lamb was perfect, it was just sooooo tender.

The entertainment in the hotel is ok, if you are over 60, they have this awful bingo, with a caller who might as well have not bothered. Then they do have the odd one or two good acts, such as John, he was really good, the rest remain nameless.

The waiting staff at night, are a waste of space, and I wouldn't pay them in washers, I lost count of the times my partner and I, sat there trying to get the attention of one of them. Are they not here to sell us drinks, to increase the revenue of the hotel? Maybe it's just me being picky, I don't think so, I'm not that kind of person, all I want is a nice holiday.

That said, I would never come back to this hotel again, which is a great shame, as it has a prime location, right on the harbour, and ideal for all that that has to offer, ie sailing, fishing, people watching, all the things we like. I'm sure Sebastien the Manager, would like to know all these things, he probably does! But as long as us Brits put up with it, and pay our hard earned cash to him, ( I bear him no grudges, lovely guy) nothing will change, is this really what we want, or am I in a minority, (or do we just accept it?).

Thought this was a very good hotel for 3 star as we had an room with an excellent view overlooking the harbour, although some rooms only had a view of a side street.

We really enjoyed the entertainment and never considered going anywhere else in the evenings, it was in my opinion far better than some 4 star hotels we have stayed at( lager was about 2.40euro a pint).

Food was good although the table sharing system in the dinning room was a bit unusual, although we were placed with a very nice couple (hope they read this)for veggies there was a special menu with a choice of about 10 meals providing they ordered before 11.00am.

Having booked a Thomsons 3* AoA late deal to Majorca we were half expecting to be sent to a Magaluf Mega Hotel for the week. We were therefore surprised to be ushered off the coach outside a caf

All the staff throughout the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was good quality catering for English taste buds. The hotel overlooks the harbour and I would recommend a sea view room. The hotel was very clean. The entertainment was lively and encouraged guests to get on the dance floor.

The Cala Bona hotel is a family run hotel, the staff are always welcoming, helpful and polite.

There is a really good atmosphere, the rooms are very comfortable, we have been going to this hotel for the last 11 years, and other people return year after year.

There is a great view of the harbour from the rooms with sea views, the food is good and plentiful and the dining room staff are frindly and helpful.

My wife and cannot speak highly enough of this hotel, and entire resort. And I would reccomend that once you have been, you WILL want to go back.
