Basically we used Holiday Truths website to give us an idea of the hotels we were looking at. The comments came in really handy and put us off some of the hotels whose websites looked good. The comments on this hotel were positive and I booked on this basis. It was vey good value in every way. The hotel was probably built in the 70's and yes does need updating but it is very clean and tidy, well maintained. No TV's in the bedroom, fantastic, two weeks of peace and quiet. Location is quiet, pefect for families not so good for (young) couples. Food, excellent, great choice for breakfast and dinner. If you can't find something you like then you have a problem. The staff were very good, from reception through to the maids. The bar staff were comical and the entertainment staff were excellent. The evening shows were good for kids and adults alike. Daytime activities are there if you want them. This is a good value hotel and we would go there again.

We arrived on the 28th July, we got off to a bad start, hotel said we didnt have a booking and at midnight this the last thing you want hear as we had a 2 year old wanting his bed. After showing confirmation and sence of humor failure, we got a room. We were supposed to be in the mastines, ended up in the chihuahua.

In the end was a good thing. On the bus on the way to the hotel we had returning guests, and had told us how good the hotel was, food, view, etc, also had read reviews on holiday truths, as per reviews hotel was dated. But we slept in room so it was ok.

Only 2 lifts, on busy times breakfast, dinner, was hard to get a lift.

Breakfast was good, all you could expect, dinner again was ok, kids menu was non existant, spag and tomato sause and pizza, smell of the cheese could kill.

The pool there where 4 pools mastines had the big pool nad a kids pool and chihuahua has a pool and kids pool. The adult pool was same depth all round which was good, there was plenty of sunbeds, like all hotels early bird gets the best ones.

Views from all rooms in Chihuahua, were unreal, there was a lot going on from kids clubs to sports, as from past reviews we decided against sending our child to any, but from what I could see, they where well supervised, for adults thay had darts, shooting, vollyball, french bowls, which I admit I didnt bother with, I played water polo with other guests, competitive, but sporting, and if you were in the winning team, they gave out certificates in the evening after the kids disco and before the main show. We only watched one show, on the friday night, which was the monster show and to honest wasn't very good.

To other people it could have been good, all in all the hotel is good, and I would go back, staff were good, only downside, to many bored teenagers at night, throwing tables and chairs in the pool, I know we are all young once, to many parents enjoying themselves not caring what there children where doing.

Oh the beach, a small sandy cove on the left of the hotel, or go right and walk the beautiful walkway for half a mile or so, and you have the choice of 2 sandy beaches.

We stayed in Chihaushuas May 2007 (Mastines next door is closed for refurbishmentit appears)

The hotel staff are friendly although reception staff not that organised and took forever to check-in.

The rooms are very clean, and rooms are bigger than average. Air con in our room, and 99% of rooms have sea view is seems.

Food is great for a 3 star hotel, and plenty for everyone. Always a soup, a pasta dish, pizza, few hot meal choices, meat, fish. Then a large salad bar, abd wads of desserts for afters. Breakfast is usual fare although sausages and bacon are not British they are OK. We mainly stuck to water melon, cereal and croisants and a few coffees.

Entertainment = pretty good, something for everybody day and night. Evening they bring in professional shows (but now just twice a week rather than every night like last year). Magician show and a Motown group.

Basically night time entertainment in very large basement bar seating 400 I'd guess.

8:30 kids mini disco
9:15 certificates for adult sports winners during day
9:30 free bingo
10:00 main stage show for adults (most kids stay and watch too)

Day time there is a variety of different sports - pistol shooting, archery etc.

3 different aged kids clubs as well. age 1-4 years, 5-12 , and 13 years+
The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome.

Location excellent on cliff side about 5 minute stroll in to small town centre.
1 huge swimming pool, 3 small swimming pools, indoor pool, hairdressers, library, shops and snack bars. Lots of sun lounges and places in garden grounds to sunbathe.

We visited this hotel the week before half term and only the one hotel on the site had been opened. rooms basic but very clean and spacey, plenty of room for a family of 4.

The food was very good, especilly the breakfast, with numerous selections each day. good selection of food for children, even fussy eaters.

Entertainment not too clever for adults but there was a very good magic show the evening we arrived.

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful and our room cleaner even tidied up our shoes and the childrens toys each day.

Plenty of room around the pool areas but this may be a problem during peak times when both hotels are open.

Nice park for the children too. I would think carefully about the hotel run childrens club though as I took my daughter once but chose not to leave her as it was very unorganised. The doors were left open so children could wander off. You weren't asked to sign when dropping off or collecting your children and the young reps running it didn't even seem to know how many children were present. In light of recent events I was not happy to leave my 5 year old there, despite her protests.

Setting of the hotel is fabulous with stunning views of the coast and probably the best view from the pool area of any hotel I have stayed.

A walkway runs from the hotel around the coast to the beach (about 10 minutes away). The views from this walkway are stunning and as you round the corner to the view of the beach coves it is breathtaking.

I would say resort is ideal for young families and older couples as there are lots of bars and restaurants around and things for the kids to do(mini golf, small fair) but not for youngsters looking for a wild time.

Just got back from Hotel Sol Chihuahuas in Calas de Mallorca. Read the reviews before we went and were concerned about a few comments. However, there was absolutely NOTHING to complain about.

The hotel is lovely. Fabulous views from every room - they all look over the pool and the sea.

Rooms are clean, bright and airy with plenty of storage space, are cleaned every other day with comfy beds which were made every day. Lots of clean towels. To some, they will be a little old-fashioned but who sits in their room every day while on holiday!

The food was delicious - plenty of choice. We only had one bad meal but that was due to our tastes and not that the food wasn't good!

Staff are friendly, helpful and extremely welcoming.

There are four pools - two large and two kiddies pools. The largest pool is very deep at one end - 3.5m. However, there is a lifeguard stationed at all times and they are all cleaned every morning without fail.

Entertainment on a night is provided by the Spanish reps who are all lovely. They also run the kids club, 10.30 - 12.00noon and 3.00 - 5.00pm everyday but Saturday. Mini disco for the kids at 8.30pm, bingo at 9.30 and then shows at 10.00pm. The Motown Night and the Fantasia Show (which they included all the kids from the Kids Club in) was particularly good. Veronica was excellent - all the kids (and parents) loved her! Good luck to her with her studies.

We were not impressed with Airtours this time and we have been away with them a lot. The rep in the resort was fine but our flights were dreadful and Palma Airport on a Saturday morning is a nightmare! The welcome meeting did however consist of the Rep trying to sell you phone cards and to get you to prebook your flight seats early so that you sit together! We didn't prebook our seats for our return flight and were still sat together!

All in all, a fabulous time and we would go back (which is something we don't normally say!).

Enjoy!

I have been going to this hotel since I was 12 and now I am 18, so that say all.

The hotel staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, usually the same staff every year which is nice to see the same faces.

The rooms are very clean, and certain rooms are very spacious. but in the summer when its very hot when you are near the top the rooms get very hot at night.

Food is great, something for everyone, the chefs come and change the food regularly, and if there is something you want cooking they will do it for you.

Entertainment= Very good, something for everybody day and night. Evening they bring the clients into the shows and also have several professional shows.

Day time there is a variety of different sports changing throughout the day, people all different ages can join. different age kids clubs as well. The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. Keep up the good work!!

Location excellent, huge swimming pool, small swimming pool, indoor, hairdressers library, shops and snack bars by both pool. Lots of sun lounges and places to sunbathe.

In May and September there isn't to many children either.

Keep up the good work!

We stayed for a week and were very pleased with this accomodation.

The rooms were spotless, the views and surroundings very well maintained, with excellent pool facilities.

The staff were very exrememly helpful.

An excellent place to stay if you have children.

Only negative would be that the menu does get a wee bit predictable, although the choice at breakfast was superb.

The hotel was very clean, but I have to say that it our room did look like something out of the seventies and was looking rather dated, also the bathroom was in need of a referb.

The food was plentiful but, yet again I have been in a lot better 3star hotels some of it you had to be careful because it was not cooked properly. I have been in other sol hotels and this was not too there best.

Be aware that the entertainment is inside and it was not that good a quality one evening they told all the children too leave as it was for adults only, this is supposed to be a family hotel and to see sex acts being simulated was not my idea of entertainment. In the daytime it was really good for the kids and adults to join in.
